Final ART 103 A
The Plan:
Find a design that is likable to put on a product or make something creative out of.
Create my new stamp.
Brainstorm ideas in AI, such as Firefly AI.
Find a website for what product I wish to create such as a mug or a totebag.
Make something marketable.
First, I found the design I wanted to create by brainstorming and looking online. I decided on two mushrooms with a gravel design below them.
Second, I created my stamp using techniques we learned earlier in the year.
I used firefly AI and different prompts such as "Two mushrooms with a gravel floor and forest theme. Lots of balance and rhythm throughout the lines used. " and "Two large mushrooms with complex lines and a lot of flow." to come up with a more refined design for my final product.
Website brainstorming: I used websites such as,printify and custom ink to brainstorm what product I wanted to make with my design. I settled on deciding to make a totebag because I enjoyed how that turned out the most. But, lets go through the process of how I created by product first.
First, I used printify. I saw this red and blue tiedye and thought it would compliment the colors of the muted green with something more vibrant + the red. It did not turn out as expected, I didnt like it at all.
Next, I tried a crystal tiedye design from printify. I liked this a bit more, but I think going with a more muted toned red to compliment the green might be a better desicion.
I didnt find many other interesting or standoutish products from that website, so I moved on to my next one: Custom Ink. Custom Ink has many options for custom printing clothing, stickers, totebags, ect. I decided to go with a muted red totebag and see what it looks like. I liked it a lot, but still found the red daunting. Maybe a pink will look better with the more muted green since it is a bit more yellow.
And finally, exactly what I wanted! Something that compliments the colors of the design well while being functional. I love it! I think the muted pink goes well with the muted green and the yellow tones like I mentioned before. Here is my final product:
Make something marketable: I wanted the product to market not just to me so I can learn and grow how to continue selling art in the future. Certain pointers we have been given throughout the semester on this such as selling in person using square have been helpful. I plan on using these tips in the future.
Final Product: The final product used unity, rhythm and pattern to implement different design elements and use them together. I think the overall balance of my design really shines through in the final image. The mushrooms carry a sort of forest-like ambiance and the changes in line show form throughout the piece and showcase depth, overall there is a sense of unity and harmony throughout. I think choosing a product where the color balances well on the color wheel with the colors in my stamp was a good choice too, and helped to unify everything, as well.
Reflection on assignment: I learned through trial and error that not everything turns out exactly the way you plan for it to just because you try hard or think something will work out. Multiple times in this assignment and throughout the semester I would have to trial and error new AI and art programs to get the exact effects I was looking for. When looking for what product I was going to make, I had to trial and error different websites with different products to see what would have the most customization options.
