While the premise is one I found interesting, and there are a lot of points that speak to it, my main takeaway was the look behind the scenes of @linkedin and @paypal and the lessons learned along the way. 👍 I enjoyed this book, climate change is an area I’m trying to become increasingly mindful of. I think it can be difficult to feel like you can make much of a difference as one person. However this book does a great job or presenting facts and ways in which we can effect climate change for the better. 👍 I can’t say I’ve read/listened to many memoirs, but I found this incredibly interesting. You really get a feel for the journey @barackobama went on in order to get to the position he was in. I think if I was going to take away anything from this books it’s that while he’s clearly a driven man there was a figurative (and sometimes literal) army of people helping him along the way. So perhaps not only is it important to think about what we can achieve, but also to consider who around us helping us get there? I’d strongly recommend this book if you get the chance to pick it up. 👍 it’s been a while… and I’m mixing up the mediums again. This was a fanatic listen, and an amazing insight into how determination and drive can and will outperform talent. It’s as eye opening as it is inspiring. I certainly would recommend this if your finding yourself in a bit of a funk and need some motivation. Hello again! It’s been a while... so why not restart with something a little different (see what I did there). 👍 Different Seasons by @stephenkingofficialpage is a fantastic book consisting of 4 novellas. One of which was adapted into arguably one of the greatest films of all time #shawshsnkredemption. That being the driver of this read I was not disappointed with the other three stories. These are less horror based than perhaps I was expecting but overall I absolutely loved these stories. 👍 A brilliant read by the equally impressive @gregorymckeown. This book came along while I was trying figure out how to improve my focus. To me it made sense that picking what is essential was going to assist. The phrase that resonated was “Decide what’s really important to you. Then say no to everything else”. Something I try to do more of now. He also has a great @linkedin news letter, if that’s your bag I’d get into that too. 👍 every now and then it’s good to read some fiction, and like most of the #bookstagramers out there I read #stationeleven during lockdown. I loved it, the imagery it created, the tension in parts, the overlapping storylines it all kept me turning (virtual) pages. The scariest part was how I could empathise with some parts in the early chapters. There was a serious lack of emergency toilet roll purchases but I can forgive that. He also has a great podcast that goes VERY well with this book. 👍 seventeen wonderful short stories from @tomhanks all of which are enjoyable, but it’s hard to look past “A Junket in the Cory of Light” a story told by an actor Rory Thorpe who finds fame after staring in a yoghurt ad. I can’t help but think Hanks may have drawn on some past experiences! I love this book, but I am biased.
