For māgood buddy, Tara
Look at this. Look at that lonely loser.Ā
According to Ravelry, I created this project page June 25, 2017. I want to say this is my first completed sock ever during which I learned a lot of important things. 1) this yarn is not what I want to be knitting socks out of. 2) I really like toe up. 3) DO NOT LIKE DPNS. 4) US 2 is too big a needle for the fabric I prefer. 5) Two at a time or there will never be a second sock. And so on.
I was fully prepared to just let this sock be a testament to early sock knitting buuuuuuut, I guess now I have a reason to knit the second.
Pattern
I finished making my Joy Division sweater!Ā I wanted an Unknown Pleasures knit sweater for a couple years now, but the only one available was overseas and $$$$$$$$. So, I decided to make my own! It took about 3 months and I made my own pattern and everything! I wanted to stab myself a couple times but it was worth it! Now I gotta wear it to Peter Hook in May!Ā
THE DOOM SWEATER.
This has been finished (and worn, and washed, and wrinkled...) for about.... *checks ravelry* a month. This is the first time Iāve beenĀ ānot angry at itā enough to take pictures.
To be clear Split EndsĀ by Nataliya PolyakovĀ is near perfect as far as a top-down, raglan with shaping and cable details goes - and did I mention itās free? The pattern comes with many size options and is written in such way that adding length or adjusting the shaping should be simple enough for someone that knows what theyāre doing.Ā
Which I do not. At all.
A breakdown of my failures:
After two previous sweaters that both turned out far tighter in fit than I prefer, I decided I knew what I wanted. So I ignored a portion of waist decreases that I ought not have because tight as those sweaters were, Iām still a smaller size than I think I am.Ā
After two previous sweaters that both turned out too tight and too short in the sleeve - to the point that one is actually a little painful to squeeze my arms into - I decided I knew what I was doing. So I ignored all but like, five sleeve decreases and knit for what felt like an eon. I did rip back past the wrist and re-did the ribbing but the arms are still larger than ideal.
TL;DR
Iāve only knit three sweaters including this one and none of them fit right but at least this one is on the large size so Iām not too self conscious wearing it.
Pattern is an A+. Will knit again once I get gud.

Netflix and knit. Reblog if you agree.
The best way to eat Doritos while knitting. My fingers are never orange.
So I read this story and just HAD to draw it. I canāt even remember the last time I did a comic⦠It was so fun! Iāll have to do more. :)

Baby Blanket #2 is DONE
I used fusible interfacing to stabilize the knit, then sewed a soft flannel backing to keep little fingers from getting at the loose carryovers. (Ok yes, Iām still finishing up the edges with a basic blanket stitch but thatās just to pretty-fy it).
And just like that, my two true loves meet....
Iām really pleased with the way these hockey players turned outāI canāt believe there arenāt already colorwork charts for hockey players! Maybe Iāll post the charts once I finish these blankets.
Finished The Samwell Letterman Jacket!!! Iāve been working on this one for a while, and just in time for the Calgary Comic Expo!
This is the third piece in my Check, Please knits! There is also this Kent Parson Jersey and the Tater Toque! I am also working on a piece for the @omgcpwomen zine, so stay tuned for that!
A glance at my usual lazy Sunday and the disaster that is my coffee table.
Entralac Sheep
Today I give you the entralac sheep door-stop, which I finished just last night.
Painfully cute and useful to boot, this little sheep was knit using two skeins of a chunky weight baby alpaca yarn in natural and grey hues. The āentralacā or basket-weave pattern involved learning to knit from left to right (yes, backwards) in order to knit the triangles and squares necessary to creating the criss-crossed pattern working only on the front side of the sheep. The colors are both knit at the same time, and minimal sewing was required in order to close up the back and head of the sheep. However, despite my relief in realizing that each individual square did not have to be sewn to its neighbor to create this sheep, there were several points in the making this sheep when I had to stare at the instructions, walk away, ponder, consult the internet, and then slowly realize what it was I was supposed to be doing through trial and error. All in all, it was a really fun challenge, and I can now successfully knit backwards.
This pattern comes from the book Norwegian Handknits by Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel. It is not necessarily meant to be a door-stop, but rather a stuffed animal. Since we happened to need a door-stop for one of our very lightweight, hollow (classy) apartment doors that tends to swing shut, stuffing the stubby legs of this sheep with glass beads provided plenty of weight for the sheep to serve this purpose. Weāre still working on naming him.

no swatches, we die like men
Never swatch, never regret.
I went out to buy yarn today andĀ I felt like fandom would like to know that River City Yarns of Edmonton, AB has a new custom collection of yarn dyed in NHL-inspired colourwaysĀ and then hockey-inspired solids. Their RCY Exclusive patterns also include projects that show the yarn off to best effect, like the breakaway beanie, the wraparound scarf, and The Sweater.
