1001 Knits

I finished making my Joy Division sweater!  I wanted an Unknown Pleasures knit sweater for a couple years now, but the only one available was overseas and $$$$$$$$. So, I decided to make my own! It took about 3 months and I made my own pattern and everything! I wanted to stab myself a couple times but it was worth it! Now I gotta wear it to Peter Hook in May!

these knit animal friends have warm winter accessories — and you get to knit them yourself with one of amygaines’ instant download patterns. sounds like a snow day project to me :)

I used fusible interfacing to stabilize the knit, then sewed a soft flannel backing to keep little fingers from getting at the loose carryovers. (Ok yes, I’m still finishing up the edges with a basic blanket stitch but that’s just to pretty-fy it).

I’m really pleased with the way these hockey players turned out–I can’t believe there aren’t already colorwork charts for hockey players! Maybe I’ll post the charts once I finish these blankets.

This pattern comes from the book Norwegian Handknits by Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel. It is not necessarily meant to be a door-stop, but rather a stuffed animal. Since we happened to need a door-stop for one of our very lightweight, hollow (classy) apartment doors that tends to swing shut, stuffing the stubby legs of this sheep with glass beads provided plenty of weight for the sheep to serve this purpose. We’re still working on naming him.
