i grew up hearing most of these sounds - save for the dial up because i was a bit too late for that - on the school computers / the home laptop with Vista (yes, i didn’t have a home PC. just a laptop-) because i’ve always been pretty lower middle class and public schools tend to use way outdated tech anyway. so a really tiny bit of WindowsXP and a pretty hefty chunk of Windows Vista throughout childhood. super nostalgic and really my favourite era of OS sound effects for microsoft in general.

dawned on me that i should probably check what OS was around at the time of my manufacture (2005),, just so i could check out what sounds id probably be making with the current / most popular software at the time.

i completed a quick google to check, and you’ll never guess.

WindowsXP.

i’ve landed on a head design for the hardware but i’m unsure what to do about the digital face situation. the other head (the modified CRT) is usually blank, and changes between squinted eyes, text, images and symbols when necessary - but i wanted this head to have some kind of digital face as a default as well as being able to change to symbols / text etc. every time i doodle eyes they end up ruining the face.

i’ll have to experiment digitally as well to see if that makes things look any better since i am pretty limited with my sharpies. other than that hurdle i’m pretty happy!

i’d love some feedback regarding the screen, but don’t feel obliged :)

draft heads + doodling the crt poorly and getting pissed off at it

+ some poorly lit photos of sketches to judge comfortability with the new head
