1. REMEMBER THE REASON YOURE DOING IT

ask yourself why you want to learn that language. is that for school? future job? travelling? whatever the reason might be dont forget it — if the reason is just because youre bored then youre most likely to study that language for one week and then getting over it.

2. LEARN THE BASICS

with the basics i mean the alphabet ( and learn how to pronounce the letters ), numbers, basic phrases, colors, the seasons, food— act like a kid with his first language and learn anything that a three year old baby might need to know!!!

3. WATCH VIDEOS IN THAT LANGUAGE

videos not films!!!! youtubers that do vlogs, travelling, skincare, or anything youre into. it will just expand your vocabulary and helps you form a coherent phrase.

4. BUY BOOKS W EXERCISES OR READ

either will be necessary! buy books that have exercises and teach you the basics — or read simple books in that language. if you cant afford them even reading here on tumblr, instagram, random google books will be enough <3

5. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, SPEAK

arrivederci = basically bye

grazie = thanks — or grazie mille = literally means thank you a thousand

per favore / ti prego = please / i beg you — we use it to enfatize a question

come stai? = how are you? orrr come va? = how’s it going? — we use both a lott

and you could answer:

tutto bene, tu? = everything’s good, you?

or

insomma, potrebbe andare meglio = it could be better — insomma we use it like “kinda” but more negative leaning

typical questions:

di dove sei? = where are you from?

quanti anni hai? = how old are you?

ti piace? = do you like it?

hai mangiato? = did you eat?

sei stanco? = are you tired?
