Zombie‼️

The trio was asleep, well, except for one. Charmander. He was still wide awake, he said he would ‘keep a look out.’ But he’s distracted…

Charmander leaned against a nearby tree, shiv in hand as he tried to focus to see if there are any nearby enemies, none so far. Charmander looked back at Squirtle, he was sleeping in his shell. Charmander gazed at his friend’s sleeping form for a moment longer than necessary before snapping out of it and turning his head away to look out for his teammates.

Speaking of Squirtle, Charmander’s thoughts kept going back to his turtle friend. How Squirtle made him relaxed for some reason… How Squirtle helped him even before they left the laboratory. Squirtle was always there for Charmander. 

Charmander scoffed, trying to focus again, what was he thinking about?! He can’t think about his friend like that. But yet again, Charmander has always been with Squirtle since… Ever! Both of them met when they were very young. Squirtle was always so loyal and kind to Charmander.. While Charmander was just… Mean. 

Well, mean is what most would call him, Charmander heard everyone he ever talked to call him that, even he could have sworn he said Bulbasaur muttered it one time, but of course Bulbasaur wasn’t trying to be rude. Charmander knows that. But Squirtle… He has almost never heard Squirtle say that he was mean, which was strange.. Charmander saw himself as mean and took pride in it, but Squirtle never saw him as mean. But why? Charmander had been mean all his life, even in the laboratory…

“Stupid…” *Charmander muttered, sliding down the tree to sit down on the grass, he looked up at the night sky. Then back at Squirtle to see if his friend was awake.. He wasn’t. Which made Charmander feel.. Disappointed? No, why should he feel disappointed? He doesn’t care if his friend wasn’t here to.. watch the stars with him.. 

“What the hell…” *Charmander growled, shaking his head, he needs to stop thinking about that, now! Charmander stood back up, he cringed at what he just thought. He shouldn’t- “..Charmander…?”

Charmander froze at hearing his friend’s voice. Squirtle. “How long have you been up..?” *Squirtle yawned, why did he care how long Charmander had been up? He shouldn’t care! At least that’s what Charmander thought. 

“I don’t know, it shouldn’t concern you.” *Charmander rolled his eyes, Squirtle sighed and patted the spot next to him* “Come here. You need to sleep.” Squirtle said tiredly, Charmander wanted to join his friend.. But something just made him stand still there.. Charmander doesn’t know what is making him stay still, but he feels weird… 

“I-I’m fine.” Charmander turned his back with an eye roll. “That’s a lie. Who knows how long you have been up, one hour.. three hours, five? You need to sleep.” *Squirtle sat up, Charmander turned back around to look at his friend, he refused to look at Squirtle’s face, why was he so nervous? He shouldn’t be nervous in front of someone he has been with his entire life!

“Come on, Char…” Squirtle stood up, stepping closer until he was now in front of Charmander. “Go to sleep.” Squirtle said in almost a demand. Charmander felt his pulse quicken for some reason, Charmander thought, ‘I must be angry at him… nothing else..’ he thought “What if we get attacked by those stupid worms?!” Charmander lashed out, Squirtle was unimpressed.

“They won’t attack us, it’s nighttime.” Squirtle said, just wanting to make sure his lizard friend got enough sleep for tomorrow, he knew Charmander would probably go fight some random pokemon — Or human — he encounters tomorrow. He cares for his friend. Deeply. 

With a frustrated sigh, Charmander nods. “Fiiiiinnne…” *He grumbled, Squirtle smiled. “Good!” Charmander could see the genuine care in Squirtle’s eyes, it made Charmander feel more… okay. 

Squirtle made Charmander lay down against the tree as Squirtle laid down next to Charmander on the opposite side. Charmander didn’t realize how tired he was until he laid down on the soft grass. Finally closing his eyes…
