Who in your life has the most influence on your music taste? My moooooom. She grew up going to the Filmore East and that absolutely was bred into me. My dad as well, actually. He grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and was surrounded by the folk and beat scene and he turned me onto The Mothers of Invention as a kid.
Has anyone ever gifted you any type of media object, if so, what was the most significant? My mom gave me CDs of She's So Unusual, Like a Virgin, the best of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Supremes Gold, Leslie Gore gold, and like half The Beatles discography as a kid and I don't know where I'd be without it all. She also gave me cassettes of Nina Hagen's Fearless and Nunsexmonkrock, ditto.
What kind of music museum would you be able to have based on the music things you have in your possession? Not a very good one I'll tell you that. But I've got a home studio and I work on new demos all the time, I'm proud of that. I also have a Wooze poster and vinyl LP and a cassette tape of the Nov LT debut album.
Are there any pieces of music/bands/artists you wish you could get into, but you just don't click with them? Countless. Most prog rock ever if I'm being completely honest. But I respect the hustle.
Do you like musicals? If so, what are your favorites? LOVE. Anything classic, Singing in the Rain, The Young Girls of Rochefort, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and literally anything Danny Kaye, 42nd Street defined my early childhood, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Also Hedwig and the Angry Inch, obviously.
How do you feel about musician biopics? If you like them (or your don't) who's life story would you like dramatized? I loved Rocketman but I never need to see another one. Enough is enough.
