Hey all! Been living the Twilight Renaissance recently and I did a painting for a scene from the lovely @donnotknow123 's fanfic which pretty much retools twilight and focuses on Charlie (and carlisle ofc). Looking back over the chapter, I did accidentally move the setting for this particular scene which was supposed to be a quiet office, not a living room, whoopsie...

Anyways, words can't describe how much I enjoy this fic but please heed the trigger warnings! [[link for the fic is as the bottom of the post!]] The fancast for this version of charlie is Dylan O'brian so I tried to follow that lol (his face is honestly quite difficult to paint but i think i got there in the end!)

"I'm older than you." he stated like that was reason enough to discourage that really young, really handsome man, as if he hasn't been watching Charlie's face for the last 5 minutes or so.

"You're still hot."

"You're very straightforward, Dr. Cullen." he felt his face get hot despite the cold touch of Dr. Cullen. "And I'm married."

Charlie finds out Renee cheated and Dr. Carlisle Cullen is more than willing to lift his spirits.

The crows feet around his eyes were getting deeper, he had more than a few grey hairs populating his head now. He looked down at his own hands as he flexed his fingers, his reflexes weren't as quick as they once were, his joints felt stiffer each day and his lungs definitely felt tighter as he drew in a deep breath.

He should've tried harder to stop smoking when he was younger.

Sighing, he rolled his shoulders in an attempt to shake off the innate tension he always seemed to carry. It didn't do much but it had become an habit somehow.

The wind outside rustled the branches of the tree sitting in his backyard, one of many, it scratched the windows and the moonlight cast eery shadows on his bed and worn out sheets. A shiver ran through his spine and he tried to ignore the sinking feeling in his gut, like he was being watched somehow.

His fingers ached as he drew the curtains closed. "Man I feel like I'm a hundred years old." he muttered quietly to himself, running a cold hand over his own neck, a feeble attempt of self soothing or whatever...

Once his head hit the pillow, however, his whole body relaxed. He was safe there, under his checkered wool blanket, the fancy mattress with memory foam supported him in all the right places and his brain slowed down enough to drift into slumber.

Soft steps echoed below him, his eyes were still closed shut but his heartbeat picked up a little, he was semi conscious, just enough to shiver with the cold gust of air that came with the blanket being lifted quickly, the mattress didn't move but his nose caught a familiar scent, soft lips planted a soft kiss to his temple and he hummed, content, shifting his head from his pillow to rest his head on Carlisle's strong and sturdy chest.

"You're late." he whined, his own arm draping over the doctor's waist, bringing him closer.

"Had a heart attack come in with 10 minutes left on the clock, I needed to do the initial treatment before sending him to surgery." Carlisle nuzzled the top of his head before kissing it too. Charlie felt as his chest rose with a deep breath. "But I'm off tomorrow so we can sleep in."
