Lady walks in we already have a group waiting she’s pregnant too.
Me: Hi, Mam, it’ll be about a 10 to 15 minute wait until we get you seated.
Another group walks in after her and she says she has 4 then walks back later and is like oh I have 7 now. I said okay, let me talk to my boss first about this. There are four booths opening up in 5 minutes, and there is one big table that can sit at least 10 people. I ask my boss if what to do, my boss said seat the seven first at the big table since it’s open and the booths we’ll be open in 5 minutes.
Me: I’m sorry mam, there will be a few booths opening in just a moment, but as for right now I will have to seat the table of 7. If there is any problem please consult my boss, for I unable to do be of help.
Lady: GREAT SO YOU’RE GOING TO SEAT THE 7 BEFORE ME?! THIS IS BULL SHIT HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
Her husband: Honey please, they have to do what they can to..
Lady: NO NO NO THIS ISN’T FAIR THEY’RE GETTING THEIR FOOD BEFORE ME BECAUSE OF HER.
I turn around, I’ve been working at this restaurant everyday this week no off days because we’re short on people until everyone is back from vacation. The lady continues to yell at me.
My boyfriend who works with me says, oh so the boss basically made you deal with the situation and lets you get yelled at that’s great..
I walk back over to the lady because I tend to speak up for myself. My whole voice changed into a deep tone from my polite tone.
Me: Mam, I already said to you, I’m going by what my boss said. I’m getting paid 7.40 an hour, I don’t get paid enough to sit here and be disrespected by a total stranger. I was polite to you and provided you as much customer service as I could. Now there are many different Mexican restaurants in this area and even a Taco Bell, you have those options or you wait.
She waited, and the seven ended up eating after her anyway because their table was still waiting on people to come in. After that, a customer walked over to me and gave me a 10 dollar tip and said, you’re right I’ve worked in the food industry for years, it’s about time someone said something to a customer for being rude.
