It’s official!
Cinematographer Gyula Pados posted this on his instagram account with official wrapped for production.
Plus, the first look of Ben Ainsworth as Link. And OMG this is so fucking cool!!! His outfit looks similar to the Hero of Twilight.

Okay! Couple things here!
First, that’s not actually Ben Ainsworth as Link. That’s painted concept art of what they wanted Link to look like. So the chances of Ben looking exactly like that in the film are slim. We’ve already seen photos of what Link looks like and while he is dressed similarly, it’s nowhere near as gritty and angular as that art is. So please take that with a grain of salt, it was likely just concept art used from pre-production as art for their clapper as shown in the picture.
Secondly, now that filming has wrapped the movie is headed into post production. Post production can be a very lengthy process, depending on how much needs to be done. This is when shots are finalized and sent off to visual effects studios to add set extensions, crowds, 3D animation and monsters and other visual effects.
This is also when reshoots are done. Because no matter how well you plan your film, you’re going to miss something and you won’t know what it is until you start editing the film together. So don’t be surprised if we hear about some reshoots in the upcoming months. That’s perfectly normal for making a film.
Post production work can usually takes between 7-12 months to complete. With a 2027 release window, we probably are looking at a 8-9 month planned post production schedule. And even that is probably on the low side.
warm up drawing.... Zelda with a bow!
I’m so disappointed in Zelda lore theorists on YouTube. Their constant distain for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom makes watching their videos impossible in my books. They’re some of the least imaginative people I’ve ever seen and it pisses me off that they spend so much time complaining about what needs to be “fixed” than actually using their god damn imagination to craft theories.
It’s been several years now and they’re STILL bitching about all the Shrines from Breath of the Wild disappearing between games even though there are many good explanations for why this is. They just actively refuse to use their imagination.
You can tell how many video games “journalists” fundamentally DO NOT understand how the movie industry works.
So many of them are surprised at Nintendo for revealing images of the Zelda movie after there were leaks, because that’s not how Nintendo tends to operate with leaks to their video games.
But for anyone who’s been in the movie side of things, this is like… perfectly normal? 9 times out of 10 when there are behind the scenes leaks movie studios treat it as a P.R. opportunity and release their own photos. It’s even speculated that at least half of those leaks are done by the studios themselves.
Watching all these games journalist bending over backwards flabbergasted that Nintendo would ever DO something like this is wild… these guys need to get out more and experience more than just video games. This is brain rotting behavior.

Just a reminder… the Zelda movie is going to be focused on Link, Zelda, Ganon, and the Triforce. There might be side characters here and there, but since this is the first ever Zelda movie, they are going to play it very very SAFE and make it the most bare bones generic Zelda storyline ever. We didn’t get Mario Galaxy until we had Mario Bros. The Movie first, you know?
I just…
I want people to temper their expectations.
If you are going into this thinking it’s going to be a 1:1 retelling of your favorite Zelda game, you are going to be disappointed.
If you’re a lore purist, you’re probably going to be disappointed too as a lot of the visual/storytelling elements are likely going to be pulled from multiple games.
Please do not freak out. It’s going to be okay.
This is a movie. The emotional depth of Link and Zelda’s relationship is ALWAYS going to be more important than the Easter eggs. We need to actually CARE about these characters as characters first and foremost. So whatever story they concoct, it’s going to be centered on their emotional journey and arcs FIRST. And then on the side there will be references to other games and lore tucked away here and there.
That’s how the Mario Movie did it and it made a billion dollars for Nintendo. They aren’t going to try and break the mold, they’re gonna play it safe.
Just please… temper your expectations. Heck, maybe in the end I’m wrong and it will be even more amazing than we ever could’ve imagined! I just feel like starting from a middle ground point of expectations always works better than if you start off WAY TOO HIGH and then fall when your expectations aren’t met.
Just from a mental health perspective it’s better for you.
of all the bad takes nintendo fans have, "link shouldn't talk because 30+ years ago different incarnations of the character writen by unsupervised third parties were cringe" might be the one i have the hardest time wrapping my head around. it's incoherent on every level
First official look at Link and Zelda in the upcoming live action movie!
Looks like they’re keeping Zelda’s blue color schemes from Breath of the Wild. And Link is wearing his white undershirt from Ocarina of Time. I think in a lot of ways like the Mario Movies this will be an original story that borrows elements and moments from many different Zelda games to craft its own story. I hope fans don’t get too caught up in the minutia of that aspect…
First Images of Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in 'THE LEGEND Of ZELDA' (2027)
Looks pretty standard fantasy to me.
I always enjoyed the illustrations in the SNES manual as a kid, and it saddened me to find out these weren’t actually part of a real animated promotion for the game. So I decided to take those illustrations and re-create them as if they were! Enjoy this long-lost VHS promotion for the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System!

Linktober! - Nostalgia - Color Sketch Studies of Princess Zelda from the animated series!
Always loved this Zelda’s outfit design. These are fantastic!

Guess who finished ALTTP!
... after 2 years.... (The amount of times I got lost is incredible)
Little Ramble:
I got super inspired from Katsuya Terada's works when scrolling for the official arts. Out of the whole Zelda aesthetics, era of Legend is my fav for it's medieval fantasy + folklore-ish style (OoT & Majora seconded). Tried to reimagine the Triforce room + mixing Zelda's ALBW and ALTTP design (more medieval! More "grandma's heritage" heavy gold accessories!).
I recognized the style immediately! You did such a good job with your own inspirations!

Sorry this took so long. Had a lot of things get in the way of completing it.
I always enjoyed the illustrations at the beginning of the NES manual as a kid, and it saddened me to find out these weren’t actually part of a real animated promotion for the game. So I decided to take those illustrations and re-create them as if they were! Enjoy this long-lost VHS promotion for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link on the Nintendo Entertainment System!

Making my way through the Zelda 2 NES manual, despite all the recent hiccups and health issues.
Just wanted to give a small update since it’s been almost a month since I began this project. Animation takes time, you know?
In the meantime while I work, you can watch my Zelda 1 NES manual commercial here.
Zelda II definitely needs the love! This looks so cool already!
