This one's for the #DungeonsAndDragons players who follow me: Something crazy just now in our game: One of our players is a goblin sorcerer. Goblin sorcerers, according to Volo's (Booyahg Booyahg Booyahg) triggers wild magic with every cast, period. Said goblin sorcerer is currently using a homebrew wild magic surge table from Reddit and got an 8, which has the effect of "Weapons in 60’ radius turn to food for 1 minute". Among the effects, my paladin's pike became a salami. We determined the wild magic doesn't know the difference between carried weapons and body parts that can be used as weapons and our tabaxi's claws became bugles. A chemical thing that was basically butter went the opposite route and became alchemists fire. For the surge list, the odd numbers are from the PHB, the evens are home made, by my understanding So I decide, food weapon or not I'm going to attack. I cast Thunderous Smite to do damage regardless of what else happens. We agree to treat the salami as an improvised weapon with a d4 of damage. I Nat 20 the attack roll. The orc I'm fighting Nat One's the saving throw. So I not only roll the damage dice twice, I send the orc warchief flying across the room and leave him bewildered he just got smacked in the face with thunder salami. I also gained proficiency with salami as a weapon. The whole thing was so ridiculous we couldn't stop laughing
