Wandering around Joshua Tree, CA I visited High Desert Test Sites, but could not find any sign of artwork. Since the sun had set, me and my friend decided to setup camp there instead of navigating the sand roads at night back into town.

During the morning the next day I took a hike around some of the land to look at the joshua trees up close and I came across a trail that led me to a structure. It was the work I had been looking for.

At first I thought it was someone’s house off in the distance, but walking up to it its this triangular house that you can climb inside and sit in. Its done by Halsey Rodman called “Gradually We Became Aware of a Hum in the Room”.

Each side has a cut out of a circle that composes the landscape outside and each room is painted a color that represents the opposite side of the sky during sunset.

After another late night in the studio. I've been inking three color prints that are quite slow to make, but the outcome is really great. The main idea is to see how to make these images look like they were made 100 years ago.
