the school's star volleyball player is struggling keep her grades up. her friends are kind enough to help her get a tutor.. but it turns out to be her ex boyfriend. what happens when she and yuta cross paths a second time?
"we need an intervention," nobara says, sliding into the booth beside maki. "this is going too far."
yuji glances at her, then back to his burger. "what is?"
"yn! she's barely around us anymore! i swear it's because of him."
"because of yuta?" megumi asks, and maki raises her eyebrows. "he speaks."
megumi huffs, and turns his attention back to nobara, waiting for her answer.
she squints at him. "don't think just because you're friends with him that i'm not about to talk shit. that man knows just how i feel about him, and especially when it comes to him and yn."
yuji hums in agreement. "it's true. it's been, like, two weeks since we've all hung out. and that was only because she passed. it's kind of sad without her around."
maki watches them, then watches as they all turn to her. "your input, boss?" yuji asks, making megumi snicker.
"i think.." she starts, looking past the group at the table. she sees a couple in the corner of the restaurant, smiling sweetly at each other. she looks at nobara. the same lovesick smile.
"i think if he makes her happy, who are we to do anything about it? it's not like we haven't been blowing her off lately.
"besides, they were friends before they were anything else. just because they're hanging out doesn't mean it's romantic."
nobara deflates. "i guess. i guess that's logical, or whatever. but if she gets hurt again-"
"if she gets hurt again, then we can be there for her. but she's in a good place right now. she's happy, and she's healthy, and she's able to do what she loves. just let her live."
the topic passes, and the conversation continues, but it still lingers in the back of nobara's mind. just what is yuta planning with her friend?
