From what I remember of the books, David Talbot was “Lestat’s elderly human friend,” and clearly that role has fallen to our beloved Daniel in the series. I’m not taking anything away from it because I think it’s great—more time for Daniel to shine among the other characters—and David Talbot is dead, as Louis in the series made a point of stating (thanks, bro Louis).

So, to conclude, Daniel is in the body thief's sights... I mean, not literally in the sights, but Daniel will be there when the body thief's chaos unfolds, because, you see... the idea is for Daniel to always be around since he's the one who's going to interview the vampires in some way, so it would only make sense for him to be with Lestat when the body swap takes place... BUT David Talbot only switches bodies because he’s a member of the Talamasca, and like any member of that organization, he has powers, gifts, and abilities that have been honed over the years. Meanwhile, Daniel...? Daniel is lost; he doesn’t know how to use or control his vampire powers. I want to understand: if Daniel is targeted for a body swap, how will that happen?

That’s my main concern. Will Fareed help in any way? Will Raglan James help? Will Lestat help? Which body will he use? Into which body would Daniel be thrown? Would Raglan James enter Daniel’s body and throw him into some random body, using his body to get close to Lestat again or to escape, and then Lestat would kill him, just like he does in the books? Would Daniel’s body—that human body that was turned into a vampire—die a second time, literally, while Daniel is lost or temporarily stored in some other body?

I believe that if Raglan James loses his human body, he might come back—but in Rashid’s body, which would be the closest to the books. Or Daniel could end up with Rashid’s body, but then we have ANOTHER ISSUE: Regina.

When Claudia says she’d find a way to come back and then I see Regina, the only thing I can think of is reincarnation, but the books never went into much detail about that. Still, if there’s anything to be said about souls and spirits, we’d need witches or the Talamasca to help us understand what’s going on, so in conclusion, I’d say—and this is just a wild guess—that Regina is part of the Talamasca’s plans, but if she isn’t, then we can assume she’s an exact copy of Claudia or that she’s part of some crazy cloning scheme, just like Viktor was.

In short, if Daniel is going to switch bodies, I’d only accept Luke—otherwise, heads will roll and bodies will go up in flames.
