Pride day 1&2
Ok so yesterday was just bringing this account back from the abyss, but today Iâll make up for yesterdayâs topic and include todayâs.
Gay is usually a blanket term for the entire lgbtqa+ community, however it refers to men attracted to other men, or people who are attracted to others of the same sex. Lesbian is a specific term for women attracted to other women.Â
These two communities form up the part that most people know of. Iâve also found that they are the most fetishized, with lesbian porn and yaoi/bl being quite popular amongst many with usually harmful effects on the actual lesbian and gay couples and people because it causes others to view these types of relationships as heavily sex based or âdirtyâ compared to straight relationships.
Happy pride month!!!! AND THAT INCLUDES ACE/ARO, TRANS, NON-BINARI and BI people!!!!!

Happy Pride Month, Tumblr!
For the next 30 days, weâre shining the spotlight a little bit harder on all different kinds of LGBTQ+ voices to celebrate what being queer means to them. We have Answer Times planned with celebrities, artist highlights with incredible members of the Tumblr community, and weâre partnering with our friends over at Huffington Post (@huffpost) to signal boost their celebration with prominent members of the community.
Wanna join in on the conversation? We hope so. This means nothing without you. You deserve to be heard every day of the yearâlet this historic month be a time to turn your pride up several damned notches. Share your story with your followers. Let âem know how you honor yourself. Is it with art? Poetry? Selfies showing off that beautiful face? Writing slash fic? Hey, itâs all valid. Tag your story and art with #TumblrPride so itâs easy for the community to find.
Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for a certain extremely #20gayteen Answer Time later this month. You donât want to miss it.
Stay proud, stay safe. You matter. Donât let anyone tell you any differently.

Tumblr
Since this month is pride month I thought it would be apt to post things related to pride. This month is for the entire lgbtqa+ community, but to make sure everyone gets a chance to shine Iâll be following one of the pride calendars, with each day representing a different part of the community. I hope you enjoy :)
Hi again!
You all might have noticed that this account has gone radio silent for a while now. Itâs because the school project that we were running this account for ended (and I moved across an ocean but thatâs a different issue).Â
Iâve decided to reboot this account as my own, since I was the admin this whole time and I donât really want to waste this platform. Everything from here on out is going to be just me.Â
Since I just moved Iâm still settling in, so posts might not be so regular (not like they ever were).Â
Thank you all for following and supporting this blog so far, and I hope youâll like the direction I'm going to take it from here on out
Mirrors
Given the power to make something disappear, I'd make mirrors disappear. Every morning, we all spend a generous amount of time looking at our reflections in the mirror. I won't say that everyone does it most of us do. There are two types of people who look at themselves in the mirror. Type 1: People who look at themselves and keep looking because they know they look good. The people who the second type of people look up to. Now Type 2 is the most commonly found group of people. People who look in the mirror and wonder what's wrong with them. It could be a teenage girl trying hard to fit in or a boy who's being bullied just because he's fat. It could be me. It could be you.
We spend hours in front of the mirror, picking out all the things that we think is wrong with us. We are all more obsessed with our appearance than we like to admit. But this is not an indication of 'vanity'. Vanity means conceit, excessive pride in one's appearance. This is more of an insecurity I suppose. I personally believe that mirrors give us low self esteem. We look into the mirror everyday to see if anything needs changing. We look to see if our shirt matches our shoes or if we need to change our favorite pants just because it's a colour that is out dated. Â We look just to see if we can change how we look physically but we slowly are changing who we are also. Looking at mirrors and picking on ourselves is turning into a deadly habit.
I think that it's about time we stop picking on ourselves and putting ourselves down just because we don't look a certain way or just because we don't conform with the society. I don't think I can go half a day without looking at the mirror and that might be the case with others too. The constant need to check how our hair is or if our clothes still match or just looking at the mirrors for the sake of it or because we are near one has become more of an obsession. We spend hours and hours looking into the mirror and telling ourselves that there are things that need fixing.
I think that once all the mirrors are gone, we are going to have a hard time. We'll feel insecure about how we look and we'll spend ages worrying about how we might be looking. We will not feel comfortable going out without seeing how we've looked. Living in a world where we don't know how we look at any given point of the day can be tough. It will be hard to adjust to. But I think that's what we need right now. We need to stop worrying about our appearance constantly. We need to stop searching for things to change. Stop comparing ourselves to others and beating ourselves up for not looking like someone else. We'll all stop finding flaws if we stop looking for them.
We tend to forget that what matters is really on the inside. We need to realize that it's okay being who we are and that's what makes us unique. We need to love ourselves for who we are not because it's what we have but because we deserve it. We need to know that being happy is not looking a certain way but being a certain way. Life is too short to spend another day at war with ourselves. I strongly believe that if all the mirrors do disappear, we will look past all our issues and love ourselves just the way we are.
You can buy your hair if it doesn't grow
You can fix your nose if it doesn't feel right
You can wear stilletoes if you are shortÂ
You can give all the beauty products a shot
But what if you can not look inside
What if you cannot love yourself
Remember perfection is but a notionÂ
Beauty lies in imperfections.Â
So love yourself
 You are beautiful
 Love yourself
 You are specialÂ
Love yourselfÂ
You are unique
 And live your life
Not worrying about what others say
Body Standards for Men
We have all heard of body standards for women. They are expected to be slender, with an hourglass figure, long legs, big bust, big butt, among many other qualities. But not all of us have heard of body standards for men, because there arenât many to begin with. Men of all shapes and sizes are generally accepted in society.
If I had to list down three standards that men face, they would be height, bod, and a jawline that can grate cheese, and even if they donât have these qualities, they are generally sought after. It is not the same for women, who struggle to change, and then maintain the way they look, and are shunned by society when they canât.
The point that Iâm trying to make here, is that men and women are hardly treated as equals. Women are required to reach heights they can only dream of reaching, while men are accepted for just being average. This stigma needs to change. Men and women are both beautiful exactly the way they look, and they donât need to put any extra effort into changing themselves.

Plus Size Models
Our world is wrecked with unhealthy standards and seemingly impossible goals of how we should maintain and keep our bodies. The internet is filled with innumerable âbody-shamersâ who seem to find fault with every single individual they see. The most affected among them are people who are oversized, constantly being made as memes, jokes and trolls while the world insensitively ignores their particular emotions and feelings about it! In this 21st century, challenging the notion of being plus-size, a brand new stream of modeling - plus size modeling, has evolved. These models brave the whole world and stand undauntedly proud of their body and happily flaunting them even. This concept was started as early as the start of the millennium. To be precise, there was a spectacular show by plus size models, for an unconventional brand, for the first time in the 2003 Milan Fashion Week. As there is gradual growth to non-conform to society, people have finally started to accept, agree and believe that all kinds of bodies are beautiful and striking in their own way. This has changed the very notion of how we perceive beauty. The sustenance of little or more extra fat is being encouraged, celebrated even. The most notable plus size models taking the scene by storm are Ashley graham, Chrsti Faza, and Brandon Carnegie. These ârole-modelsâ are making that plus size body a new fashion statement, converting the orthodox skinny model stigma to a fundamental fact that anybody can model, whoever they are, whatever they look like and wherever they choose to be.
Vanity Sizing
Vanity sizing, is best explained by associate professor, and chair of fashion at the State University of New York, Lynn Boorady, who said that its the artificial lowering of the size on the label, with the intention of appealing to the customer's vanity. A recent study, looked at a thousand pairs of size 4 pants, and found as much as an eight and a half inch waist differential between them. That's right, it's not you, it's the women's clothing industry, the women's clothing sizes, which are extremely inconsistent. The problem doesn't start here though, it goes way back. Readymade clothes were initially used by soldiers, for their uniforms. Assuming the soldiers bodies were in proportion, their chest sizes were enough to determine measurements of the rest of their body. But for women, no single measurement could be used to predict the rest of their measurements.Due to the varying chest and hip sizes, it was much harder to summarize with a single number. When the first standardizing chart for women came out in 1958, it was mostly built out of poor, malnourished caucasian women. Now that there is a much wider Demographic to cover, the retailers are picking a certain group of people to sell to, honing in what works with that group and what doesn't. This means that even brands owned by the same company, will have inconsistent sizes. From 1958 till 2011, the smallest size for women's clothing, has gone down from a size 8 to a size double 0. So when Abercrombie &Fitch,Code or Banana Republic decides to make a dress, they're thinking about a specific body type, not about mine or yours. The problem isn't women's bodies, we are fine just the way we are, these are just random numbers that mean absolutely nothing, put in place, to appeal to us. So if we don't like the number printed on the tag, we take a pair of scissors, and just cut it off.
What is Body Shaming?
There is a very fine line between constructive criticism and body shaming. The difference between the two lies in the way the message is conveyed, and the underlying intention behind the message.
While constructive criticism allows one to improve themself, body shaming highlights the faults of another without any empathy or reason.
In the present day and age, with the rise of social media, only one body type is promoted. Perfection is defined by the media when in fact it has no definition.
When young girls and boys aren't able to acheive this supposed idea of the perfect body, it lowers their self esteem and felling of self worth, thereby affecting them physically, mentally, socially, and psychologically.
What these young adults don't understand is that every individual has a unique body type. As individuals, we should imbibe the constructive criticism we receive to the extent that it allows is to make healthy lifestyle choices, but not to the extent that it effects our mental state.
Gender stereotypes are a two way street, and we should all do our best to remember that
