So you’ve taken all your prereqs and you’re ready to apply. But are you? Here’s a general checklist i made to give you a timeline for applying. I can post my own personal timeline from when i applied last year, if anyone’s interested.

Summer before senior year - Take about 3 months to study for OAT.

July 1st - Application opens on www.optomcas.com. You can apply before sitting for OAT.

Mid August - Take OAT, I recommend writing the test before starting up school again. That way you can focus on school during school. If need be, you can retest after 90 days (as early as mid November).

September - About when applicants begin to hear back for interviews.

December - First deadline, i believe UCB is the first.

So i'm about to start Optometry School fall 2016 at the best school ever! I'm so excited, like, seriously, can't wait to post all my optometry school adventures and share them with you guys. All these great things are happening in my life and i wanted to give back. I remember how hard and stressful applying to schools was. I thought about how i didn't really have anyone to give me any good solid advice during my application cycle. I didn't have anyone to tell me what and what not to do. I had no idea what to expect on interview day. I did however speak to a lot of admissions people, and asked hundreds of questions. I'm basically an untouched bundle of knowledge. I want to help Pre-Optometry students get into optometry school. I think its worthwhile to have someone share their personal experiences. I think one, it helps motivate. And two, it helps you learn from their mistakes. So i thought, why not me? I made tons of mistakes! Or a least, there are a lot of things i know now that i didn't know then, that i wish i'd known...ya feel me?
