This week is special. Its holidays, winter is here and the Christmas is coming. Today we are releasing many new additions and some improvements in GehriRoute. GehriRoute was initiated with an intention of bringing friends together, not just online, but in real. Our aim has always been to make GehriRoute more social,more useful and more personalised.

Here is a summarized list of new things that you would experience next time you log into your GehriRoute account.

    1) Follow - Now you can follow intresting people from all over the world. This also means a more personalized RouteFeed. Now data from people you follow will only be visible to you. More people you follow, more variety of routes you get.

2) Share your routes  - We have added some share buttons on your Route page. Now you can easily share your creations with you friends out of GehriRoute.

4) Better Maps - We have tweaked our maps. Now just in terms of speed, but also in terms of design. We have always aimed to a design that keeps things simple yet provide a better way for viewing routes.

      5) Bio - This might seem like a very small thing, but we love this one. Describe yourself in 6 words. This will appear in your profile under your profile picture. Now you can see other people's profiles. Now we can surf people's profiles, see what routes they have created.

The journey has begun. Yesterday we sent first batch of invitations to the people who applied for the private beta. Lot of bugs have been uncovered in such a small time and we have received lots of suggestions for our future releases  First of all I want to thank you all for your support and love. Your every reply gives us more enthusiasm to work nights to get you the best.

If you are missing all the action, be sure to apply for the next batch. We will be rolling out next update and invites on 16 December 2013. So go on gehriroute.net and enter your email for the invitation. We are currently giving invites on first come first serve basis. 

Those who are already in the private beta can contact us either by sending their suggestions on user voice or by directly contacting us at [email protected].

  In our daily life, we travel through many routes.What's a route you ask? It's basically a collection of landmarks which will help us to reach our destination. These landmarks can be a crossroad, cineplex, appartment, station etc. 

Gehriroute allows you to create a route,like and share it. Lets see how to create a route.

Click on 'create new'.

Add your starting destination

Keep adding the landmarks using 'add button'.

End with your destination and click go.Here, you will get an option to either post you route or create another.You can also see your route on the map.

If you wish to post the route you would be asked to name it. Remember, there  might be others who took the route, so, be innovative and informative in naming your route.

Following that comes the description.- It can be a short story about the places, or it might be some history associated with the places. Whatever they might be, the better the description, the more it catches people's eyes.

Save the route and its available to be shared,viewed and liked.

We have been talking to you people personally till now (Those in the private beta). But Now we'll be posting our updates here.

GehriRoute is a very popular term popular among the people of North India. Especially among the youth. You can see this yourself by searching "gehri route" on Facebook. You will see lots of Facebook pages on this.

"Gehri" has a Punjabi slang attached to it which means "A short drive in the city". Taking some time out of their busy lifestyles, Everybody loves to go out with their friends on short trips. Everyone has its own favorite spots in his/her city. Your Favorite restaurant, favorite meditation spot, favorite park etc. A gehri is a combination of such spots.

For example: "Ron and his friends today went out for some fun. First they went to the XYZ club and played some pool. After that they went to ABC shop to grab some snacks. In the end they went to the lake and enjoyed the evening cool breeze with the sunset."

Here Ron will create a route with locations.

We are creating a platform where people can share their favourite locations in form of routes and post their crazy hangout stories.

Here they can create and share routes, checkin with their friends, share their life stories and pictures of their travel.

Currently we are in private beta phase and trying to expand slowly.
