INTRODUCING BERLIOZ BONFAMILLE. A HUMAN FROM ECHO CREEK.
TW: MENTIONS OF KIDNAPPING, DRUGS, AND SUICIDE
Berlioz has always been a quiet guy. Even from birth he only cried briefly before calming down. He wasnât a vocal person and didnât express himself much growing up. He was often teased as a child by the kids in his neighborhood because he was so quiet and he tried his best not to let that bother him.
His mother-- Duchess, had pretty much coddled him from birth. He really only shared his feelings with her and, on occasion, his siblings. He was never close with his aunt Adelaide. She sort of scared him so he did his best to avoid her. She wasnât like his mother and he didnât find comfort in that.
It really bugged him that he never knew his father. He doesnât have a single memory of him and because Duchess was so hellbent on them not even saying his name he barely knows what the man looks like. Heâs only seen a few photos and he wasnât in any of them. Toulouse sure was though and that really upset him.
Heâs always been emotional and because he was so quiet he wasnât sure how to express his feelings in a positive way. Heâs a big silent crier when heâs alone and doesnât really share much of anything with anyone.
The Edgar thing fucked him up more than he can even say. He went completely silent for ages after that, not talking to anyone. Not even Duchess, who has always been his entire world. He shut them all out and if he did talk it was only to Thomas OâMalley. Thomas was an interesting guy, Berlioz thought, and though he didnât want to grow up to be like him he did respect and appreciate the man.
He only started coming out of his shell again once he started acting out post-Edgar mess. Sneaking out was only the beginning. Though when he did sneak out he didnât do much wrong, at first. Sometimes he only went as far as the roof of their house to look at stars. Sometimes he wandered the streets until the sun peeked over the horizon. Mostly, it was just a time for him to reflect and think. Berlioz thought about a lot of things on his late night ventures and most of the time it ended up with him feeling angry and sad.
The first first time he brought a skateboard home Duchess was mortified. She didnât want her baby getting hurt and she thought it was a stupid method of transportation. That only made Berlioz word harder at perfecting his skate skills.
School was rough. He didnât care because anxiety and depression had pretty much taken over his life because of the trauma he had endured. The only class he actually tried in was music. He was a natural at piano and it was his teacher at school that pushed him to try other instruments. So, he did. He learned the cello, guitar, as well as took a shot at clarinet. He always went back to piano though because it felt safe and he enjoyed the way it sounded.
Drugs are a tricky subject for him. As far as most people know he doesnât do them. Weed was the first one he tried but it wasnât really his thing. Pills though, those were his vice. He tried his hand at all of them. Ecstasy, pain pills, benzos, you name the pill and heâs probably tried it. Heâs really a fan of Xanax because it keeps him calm but also makes him feel...euphoric. He likes to drink and sometimes he mixes the two. He knows how dangerous that can be but, honestly? He doesnât really care. If his family woke up and he was dead one morning he feels like maybe it would be a wake up call for them. Itâs not that he actively is trying to kill himself, but if heâs dead he wouldnât really care. Heâs always chasing a bigger high though and he knows very well that could be the end of him.
Tried coke. Itâs fine for a party, but it makes him high strung and he prefers the mellowness of his xanax.
He really does enjoy his job playing the piano at different restaurants. He loves music, he really does, but sometimes he doesnât feel like itâs his passion anymore. Music has always defined him and heâs even tried to start writing some of his own lyrics. He wants to try his hand at some other things too though. He skates still, despite Duchessâ protests, but thereâs so much in the world he hasnât tried. Maybe heâll try surfing next! Or, even video games. He never really played them much as a kid but he doesnât mind sucking ass at a game on easy level. Duchess always told him they rotted his brain so he put his focus elsewhere.
He enjoys reading. Itâs a quiet past time and he locks himself in his room to just lose himself in a book. Itâs where he takes inspiration in song writing at times.
It truly pisses him off so much that his family acts like the Edgar thing never happened. Heâs stuck in the past and he doesnât know how to move forward. He wants nothing more than to live a normal life but he finds comfort in his sadness. Itâs strange because who would want to be sad, but change is difficult and he doesnât know how to make even the smallest of changes so he can live a normal life.
Overall, heâs still a quiet guy. Heâs a very emotional person and loves his family more than anything. He just...wishes they could understand him a little better. He loves his sister because she reminds him of his mother, and he loves his brother because he was able to get away and do his own thing. Duchess is still very much his comfort person but he feels like a stranger to her these days and he knows that hurts them both. He doesnât go to her like he once did and he wants to mend their relationship and be as close as they were before. She just has done things he doesnât agree with and isnât sure he can look past that. Heâs finally starting to learn who he is as a person and heâs not sure if he likes that guy or not, but heâs trying to. He just has to figure out how to show the world the real him.
