A little trip to Nara♪
The rainy season has arrived, bringing with it days of soft, overcast skies. On a day like this, I felt drawn to the quiet beauty of hydrangeas and decided to visit Okadera Temple in Nara.
Throughout the temple grounds, hydrangeas bloomed in every shade imaginable. They lined the pathways, surrounded the ponds, and appeared around every corner, as if gently guiding visitors toward the Buddha.
As I wandered slowly through the temple, stopping from time to time to take photographs, I began to notice the subtle details around me—the lingering scent of rain, the moss-covered stones, the distant songs of birds carried through the still air. Before long, it felt as though my heart was being quietly cleansed as well.
When we slow down and look carefully, we often discover beauty that would otherwise pass unnoticed—small moments that gently touch the soul. Capturing those fleeting impressions, both in my heart and through my photographs, felt like a quiet luxury.
Temples are, in a sense, places apart from everyday life. They offer us a chance to pause and reconnect with something we often forget in our busy routines: our true selves, our values, and the way we wish to live.
The hydrangeas simply bloom, asking nothing of anyone. Yet somehow, they seem to whisper:
“Why not slow down for a moment?”
It was a peaceful day of photography—and a gentle reminder to appreciate the beauty that quietly exists all around us.
