RHYTHM FILM - TASK 1 RESEARCH
While working on the Rhythm Film task, I looked at a lot of Len Lye’s films and was really inspired by the way he combined image and music. My favourites were A Colour Box (1935) and Life’s Musical Minute (1953). I liked how he used simple shapes or lines to match short, sharp sounds, more complex repeated patterns for layered sounds, and twisting lines to show changes in pitch. Following this idea, I tried to match the beat of my chosen music with moving patterns on film. First I worked out how long one beat was in seconds, then marked that time on the film strip. Inside each section I drew continuous lines or shapes to follow the rhythm. Since this was my first attempt, I found that movements which looked clear on the film strip didn’t always come through strongly once they were digitized.
cool tutorial wanna try something like this for animation elective
