Training season could get rough. Working too hard was a habit all the skaters seemed to get into. One good thing about having Victor Nikiforov as his coach meant that Yuuri was offered more chances to rest. Though Victor always pushed him, he made sure Yuuri wasn’t overworking himself, that he wouldn’t burn out before a competition. After all, Victor knew all too well how it felt. It was a slow day, Mila skating slow circles around the rink as Yakov yelled at Georgi who apparently hadn’t been working hard enough on his posture. Yuri looked burned out but was still doing his best to run through his routines, mentally berating himself every time he made a mistake.

Yuuri was leaning against the barrier, staring out the window absentmindedly. There were a few seagulls flying by, heading towards the beach. Yuuri wondered what it was like out there that day, if the waves were strong, if there were many people enjoying the sunshine. Russia’s weather had taken some getting used to. The Summers weren’t nearly as hot as they could get back in Hasetsu, a nice mild temperature. Sometimes he’d still slip on a coat and Victor would question how on Earth he wasn’t sweating up a storm when it was such a warm day. He definitely needed to get himself accustomed to Russian weather.

It was a warmer day in St. Petersburg. A lousy day to be stuck inside running routines no matter how much you loved the ice. Victor seemed to notice how tired everyone looked as he called out to the room at large, “Alright everyone! I officially declare this a beach day. I expect to see everyone there in twenty minutes. No excuses!” He looked directly at Yuri, smiling as the Russian fairy scowled.
