I never would have expected things to turn out this way, given how last year went

Also, the interaction between Ren and Shion at the beginning really shocked me 😂

I knew it would happen, but they really seem to get along so well 🤣 PLUS REN NEEDS FRIENDS.

And as for "only the best for my wife"... no, Ren, unfortunately you heard right😔 I swear I think if the cat hadn't interrupted Shion, he would have kissed the MC

From that point on, events unfold much like the episode from last year, and they end up encountering the magpie

But this time, luckily, Mio is there and can lend his gadget to help her out

That is why they hadn't managed to help her last year.

And then Jin popped up 🥲 THAT WAS SO UNFAIR ZZG TRICKING US LIKE THAT

Anyway, after solving another puzzle, they get lost in the forest dimension and end up at another Tanabata festival, where they run into the girl from the beginning of the episode again; Luca decides to bring her along, even though Jin had initially forbidden it 😭 GO MY BOY

But after turning back, they discover that a dome has risen, preventing anyone from entering or leaving????

So they go to the Sky King, but he's crying??? JUST LIKE LAST YEAR

And thanks to Ren for speaking up—thanks to that, they managed to figure out that the magpie was a key point. It’s a good thing, too, because it seemed like he’d wanted to say from the very beginning that the watermelon riddle was an anagram

But does this mean that maybe last year's one was an anagram too? Now I understand why they're the real herders, Ren and Mio played a very crucial role (even though Ren just complained 99% of the time)

And Jin simply had to be there, since he realizes they need to go back to the lake dimension where the magpie turns into a bridge.

AND AWWWW SUDDENLY MC MEETS THE CHILD SKY KING🥹

“Get your hands off her" — Calm Jin, he is literally a child😭🙏🏻

BUT THEN IT'S ALL SO CRAZY BECAUSE IT TURNS OUT THAT HE'S REALLY THE SKY KING AND THAT THEY'RE ON ANOTHER PLANET??!??

AND THEY HAVE TO STAY THERE FOR TWENTY-TWO DAYS?

But it was worth it because MC and Sky King cared about each other so much 🥺

Also, the moment Ren told Mio "Mio, you're a genius" for building a sort of microwave was really sweet 😂

But after those 22 days passed, they had to leave and return to the moment they had disappeared 😭, and I swear I’ll never forget the goodbye between the Sky King and MC

“Even if you forget me... and I forget you... I will invent a secret code to let us recognize each other.”

When they return, they go straight to Sky King; he hugs MC and says he kept his promise.

The boys were so :00 🤣

So the woman starts explaining how it’s possible they didn't know about them before; it all makes a lot of sense, but I wonder if this logic ties into the “Tokyo Debunker” time loop. Also, if the meeting in the past never actually happened, what was the magpie's purpose? And why did the Sky King start crying—even back in last year's episode—before all of this?

The story then goes on to explain that when midnight strikes, the Sky King will be absorbed into a giant sphere filled with the alien population and will cease to exist; the boys therefore decide to destroy the sphere to ensure his survival

They manage to destroy it, and the Sky King leaves for the space, saying he’ll return to Earth every year to meet the MC and in the meanwhile he will help with the curse from space. That detail is so sweet—it’s just like Orihime and Hikoboshi 🥹

The episode ends with the MC overhearing Tohma and Alan talking behind the dormitory, near Naoki’s grave (please help me remember who that is); apparently, they are discussing how their alliance for the next month will force the spy to reveal themselves. They also talk about how Jin must receive the year-end award at all costs—something Alan agrees with. I hadn't noticed it at first, but perhaps this is a way to flush the spy out?
