I feel like a lot of people just don't understand Dhalsim's character and it frustrates me. "Miserable, boring, weirdo character with zero traits that actually stand out." If you don't like him that's okay but I can't stand it when SF fans call him any of those things. If you cared enough to actually look into (for example;) his world tour dialogue, you'd see what makes him the way he is.

Acting like he is a 'miserable' character is ridiculous when there are pretty obvious reasons as to why he doesn't open up much and only does so when the player gets closer to him. He has passions!! Hobbies!! And he never gets the chance to talk about any of it!! Because he's such an important symbol to his country, and people WORSHIP him by the time SF6 takes place. He's not just some yoga master anymore lmao he's got his own temple and everything. Also please, for the love of god, why are you expecting a monk to be unserious and whimsical all the time? A monk who has witnessed people starve and suffer and die from horrible illnesses- if you'd rather have him act like some goofy old man all the time his character just wasn't made for you. Simple as that.

Not to mention, his Outfit 3 description mentions he is quite sociable. And, as I've mentioned, he DOES share quite silly memories with the player if you strengthen your bond with him. But yeah, sure, miserable old man. Ok.

I finally got my hands on the 1994 Street Fighter II Comics (cuz god you can't find any full scans online) and GODDDDD Dhalsim actually talking about his past and mentioning that his skulls protected him... Oughhghg. I hate Ryu so much for destroying them I don't careeeee. Also may I mention their fight went on for almost a full hour?????

Thinking about how much suffering Sim had to endure,,, and yet he still believes he doesn't do enough. "I will return home and see how else I can help them" oh Sim do you ever think about your own well-being ?! He's so selfless, I hope he knows how loved he is.
