PEACH MAGAZINE

hey guys!! i wanted to share an art project i’ve been dedicating the past few months to…peach magazine!!

i made peach magazine so i could share things i was interested in reading and exploring. the topics in here are all really arts-centric, and in this issue, i cover topics such as visual art with a biography/analysis of andy warhol :~), cooking with an interview with a local chef of a french restaurant in DC (!!!!) and music with an article about my fav up and coming indie artists and an interview with one of my favorite indie bands SALES!!!!!!

i also wanted to give peach a unique aesthetic that i really liked. peach is pretty modern, with its simple palettes and bright n bold colors, but at the same time it has a bit of a silly doodly feel because of the way i did some illustrations, or the way i hand wrote little “omgs” and hearts and put them on the magazine <3 there’s also an anime influence in the magazine, since the 2 (fictional) ads i created for the magazine are drawn in anime style!!

with peach, i just want people to be able to find out something new about the art world, learn to appreciate more of the art world or just find a new interest within the art world. it’s really all about being able to expose people to more art. peach is also, in itself, art. it was technically an art project for me, and there are definitely aspects of peach that make it more like art rather than a real magazine–such as the fact that the ads are all fictional, and also that the whole magazine was really a one-gal show done by mee. so to me, peach is especially special because it’s a physical manifestation of my art (which is mostly digital!!) and it makes peach seem like a fictional little world (a bit), a sort of realm away from reality.

that being said, this was my first time working on a magazine, and i’m really proud of it!! this is the spring 2016 issue, and i’d really love it if u could help support my magazine by purchasing a copy here, sharing it with ur friends or even reblogging this post!! i hope to get enough support so that i can create a summer 2016 issue (wouldn’t that be cool?? <33)

if u are like me and had an absolutely lame valentine’s day (eating seafood noodle soup at some random korean grocery store with my parents and then not even buying the stupid dunkin donuts brownie batter donut that i wanted bc i kept hearing its ads all over the radio and they were haunting meeee) then these stickers are 4 U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look at how PINK and CUTE they are omg ggggg!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahhhhaahhhh!!!!!!!!

there’s literally three feet of snow outside my door right now but being the weirdo i am i had to draw something autumn related :’~))))))) heh

but it’s probably because i was totally totally totally inspired by this piece by @strangelykatie and the minute i saw it i just knew i had to draw it even if it’s the thick of winter right now. lol.

i’ve been thinking about things lately and i think that when i draw dumb things like this i take away from evangelion’s uber-DEEP message (or whatever) but at the same time look how cute rei and asuka are as POP STARS!!!!!!!!!!!

i was really inspired by bright, colorful outlines for this piece (think andy warhol!!!) and also baseball cards. like. u know. those weird things that boys used 2 like 2 trade around the sidewalk corner, and u’d sometimes find them on the sidewalk with gum stuck in them. so i made like a pop-art baseball card thingy with madoka and homura!!!!!
