Alternate Jewish disability pride flag design: pendants ft. star of David.
calling elul-tishrei the "holiday season" both because it's accurate and because it will confuse and baffle goyim

kinda broad, but anyone have recommendations for hebrew tv shows or movies? looking for adding some hebrew practice into my downtime. english subtitles are a plus to be able to reference a translation
.
Someone recommended hapijamot- הפיג'מות- and I really agree
I'd say "the jew are coming"- היהודים באים- by kan 11 is a must watch for any Jewish person honestly, everything's on their YouTube channel and some stuff are with English subtitles
"The city"- העיר הזאת- is an INCREDIBLE rap musical in Hebrew, I also think it's pretty good to learn Hebrew from because it has a lot of word play and insights into Hebrew linguistics (יחיד מול רבים)
I'd honestly say browse kan 11/ kan digital YouTube's channel just to see what you might be interested in because they have some great stuff and at least sometimes with English subtitles.
Dead end- סוף הדרך- an animation series also in kan's channel, very very good and at least some episodes are with English subtitles.
This is sodom- זוהי סדום- incredibly funny comedy film about Sodom from the bible.
If I'll have more recommendations I might add but these were what I had from the top of my head
Bought myself an outfit for Rosh Hashanah today 🥰

Is the sparrow who hopped along to Avinu Malkeinu while I listened to it Jewish?
RATING: JEWISH
Is it the same sparrow that danced to Modeh Ani?
Not a sparrow, but I immediately thought of this bird that has a permanent kippah. It's a black-naped monarch (Hypothymis azurea).
Hi keziah! Your answer about Jewish folklore inspired me to ask, do you have any book and author recommendations for Jewish folklore collections? And also I'd asked before but I think it's been buried in your inbox lol, but do you have any recs for Jewish children's books for my nephews (they also love supernatural and fantasy themes)? Thank you! -🍒
Oops! I'm sorry I didn't get to your original ask. Things do get buried in there lol.
For Jewish folklore:
Howard Schwartz has several award-winning collections of Jewish folklore, which are a joy to read, including 'Leaves from the Garden of Eden;' 'Elijah's Violin;' 'Lilith's Cave: Jewish Tales of the Supernatural;' 'Tree of Souls: the Mythology of Judaism;' and so many more. I definitely recommend any of those works.
Yiddish Folktales - Beatrice Weinreich
Tevye the Dairyman and the Railroad Stories - Shalom Aleichem
Jewish Legends of the Middle Ages - Claud Field
Legends of the Jews - Louis Ginzberg (a collection of Midrash that is so very good)
A Treasury of Jewish Folklore - Nathan Ausubel
Pomegranate Seeds: Latin American Jewish Tales - Nadia Grosser Nagarajan
Jewish Folktales - Pinhas Sadeh
Mimekor Yisrael: Classic Jewish Folktales - Micha Joseph Ben Gorion
For Jewish children's books:
Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins - Eric A. Kimmel (I adore this book)
The Golem's Latkes - Eric A. Kimmel (I also adore this one)
The Magic Dreidels - Eric A. Kimmel
The Adventures of Hershel of Ostropol - retold by Eric A. Kimmel
The Keeping Quilt - Patricia Polacco
The Blessing Cup - Patricia Polacco
The Latke Who Couldn't Stop Screaming - Lemony Snicket
Marven of the Great North Woods - Kathryn Lasky
I highly recommend this reading list (and the whole website tbh):
I’ve been building a library of books in English on Jewish monsters and magic. Here are the books I come back to over and over again.
Embroidered towel for the mikveh
Late 19th-early 20th century
Jews, we need to update Lilith. She’s the demoness of maternal mortality and SIDS, right? But modern medicine has sharply reduced mother and newborn fatality/illness rates. Lilith needs to expand her repertoire to cover modern threats to maternal health. From here on out, Lilith is the demoness of pro-forced birthers. She’s the patron of protesters screaming outside of abortion clinics, the sponsor of legislation that snatches decisions from the hands of mothers and doctors, the secret menace hacking away at funding for family planning and pre- and postpartum healthcare. She’s the girlie behind all the crackpot influencers telling you to give birth alone in your home and never vaccinate your kids. And she is very specifically the demonness of women who lead the charge on these topics. You know who I’m talking about. Phyllis Schlafly, Lilith is Phyllis Schlafly.
this is the only "modernise lilith!" take i will accept
