Before the Calamity:

Alongside central Hyrule, the Zora, Gorons, Rito and Gerudo, Hyrule Kingdom also encompasses the Land of Red Roses in southwest Akkala, Sunset Valley, the Southern Oasis, and the independent court of nocturnal faeries. 

Hundreds of years before the Calamity, the Land of Red Roses was under Hyrule's royal family, and around the same time, the Southern Oasis was turned into a settlement for trade and to be a place to stay for the male family and of Gerudo citizens. Over time, its population grew beyond that, though those factors are still relevant to this day.

Sunset Valley has been allied with Hyrule since ancient times. 

In the time of legend, it's said a Sheikah family fell into the Depths before they were sealed off, but survived. Over hundreds of thousands of years, every now and again someone would somehow fall into the Depths and would sometimes choose to stay, and so the family line grew resistant to the gloom in the environment. But, that's all unknown to everyone except a few Sheikah scholars and elders.

It's unknown when, but certainly before the last Calamity 10,000 years ago and maybe as far back as the founding era, the Thyphlo area was sealed off in an impenetrable wall of thorns. While the nocturnal fae that call the Briar Village their hometown are free to come and go, they rarely interact with other Hylians, although some created an ancient settlement deep in Faron.

After the Calamity:

With the collapse of Hyrule's royal family, both the Land of Red Roses and its primary settlement, Scarlet Pass, and the line of royalty-assigned hunters and assassins found themselves independent. Over the 100 years, the family stepped into mystery, while the Land of Red Roses achieved self-suffcience.
