Q: "Were there any girls?"

I feel like school has blinded nursing students of the employment rate after graduation. We hear it everywhere, "nurses are in demand, there's a shortage of nurses." As I look through job postings, all I see are 3-5 years experience required. How are nurses able to obtain the years of experience without given a chance? I came to realize that there IS a shortage of nurses...but it's a shortage of EXPERIENCED nurses. Not many employers are willing to reach out to nurture and teach new grads. I am truly thankful to be able to find a nursing job a month after obtaining my license. I know the pain and disheartening feeling of not being able to begin your nursing career. I have a friend who has not found any employment for a year. The key is to keep trying and pushing, apply anywhere you can, your opportunity is soon to come. We all worked hard to become a nurse, it's not time to give up.
