Had to had to haaaaad to. I started writing the day her stuff disappeared because my choices were either 1) mourn my favorite fic healthily or 2) spite write.

this dynamic is why i find them so appealing from a dom/sub perspective as well. that's not a Requirement for me to enjoy a ship but it definitely helps :)

Firstly, everything you said. The whole thing.

Secondly, it just hits all my favorites. Tiny exhausted office worker meets profoundly messy, record-breakingly repressed nihilist and says "actually, fuck you, stuff matters" so hard that she calls out their self-image and gnaws on their leg? Confident and not worried about being cool meets trying way too hard to keep up an image? Small butch dom, tall femme sub? (Subject to interpretation ehehe) I'm there, I'm in the room, I'm sat.

I think what really rules about their dynamic in canon is that they're each other's catalysts for change in a world that engenders stagnancy. They're each the unstoppable force to the other's immovable object, and that's the kind of character-driven narrative writing I could just stick a straw in and slurp up. I loved Pomni from the beginning, and sat there feeling pretty neutral towards Jax for the first few episodes thinking, "okay, you're trying so hard to seem flat and one-note, when does the shoe drop?"

Episode 6 changed the game for me completely. When they're working together, they're so much fun to watch, and when they're butting heads, it brings out the coolest parts of each character. I distinctly remember going from episode 5 thinking "Oh, their dynamic is really growing on me. I like it platonically, but I see why people ship it." And then episode 6 dropped and I was surfing the funnybunny tag aaall night.

That being said, if I came for the canon, I stayed for the fanon. I got really attached to the ship because I fell in love with the way people connected with Jax's potential for vulnerability. There's also stuff that appeals to my personal lil preference--a ship that's F/M (well, so we thought :) ) where everyone almost unanimously reads the woman as not only the dom, but also masc and often unserious is just my flavor.

From a D/s or even romance perspective, it is that "deliberate choice" of it all that you mention that really made them something I want to write about. Jax isn't soft with Pomni because he's just "like that," he GETS to choose to be soft because she makes that softness feel safe, even if it takes a shitton of work. Pomni isn't patient with Jax out of obligation, she GETS to be patient because he decides to put in the work to receive patience and prove to her that her efforts will pay off. It just goes back to "fuck you, stuff matters." Intimacy in any shape requires work. The powerful force of choosing to let the bonds you hold dearly shape you and prove to you that something matters is the most compelling question TADC asks, in my opinion.

I dunno, man. They're just neat. Pomni's a flavor of emotionally mature that I feel leading women don't often get to be. Jax is so unapologetically messy in a way I have been LONGING to see in queer art especially. The depth and humanity of these two just kicks ass and I love gettin' to pick 'em up and make 'em kiss or bully each other do kinky shit or whatever. Yeehaw toxic yuri.

My nothingburger answer is "hot damn, what doesn't appeal to me?"

My genuine answer is that the hypno-flavored opportunities for vulnerability and intimacy are like nothing else. There are a lot of other ways to give up control in a D/s setting, but with hypnosis, that's the brain! Like, where the person and identity and free will all live?

There's an absoluteness to it that feels kinda unparalleled. Someone tied up? Hell yeah. Someone completely unbound, but convinced they can't move because their brain was told real nice to lie to them? Damn. There's no choice behind it, because those choices were already made when that somebody made the singular choice to put their thoughts in somebody else's hands.

On top of that, hypnosis doubles as a what I like to call a kink condiment. You can put that shit on anything--service submission, petplay, regular plain ol' sex--and it's immediately 100% zestier!

As for what I plan to explore in the story, I'll be a bit vague for spoiler's sake, but;

- that "choice to give up choosing" moment is shaping up to be a big one. Jax struggling with his desire to submit honestly writes itself. It terrifies the shit out of him, but he's jonesing for it something fierce. There's so much fun potential in "whoops, he lost to the side of him that really wants it!" and "uh-oh, post-hypnotic suggestion that makes it impossible for him to deny what happened!"

- the way that intimate relationship of tist and subject can have so much more depth with a long-term partner, especially someone you love. Decision Fatigue is, among other things, a love story :)

- and because plot and character development are my REAL kink, I really want to explore the slippery slope of developing unhealthy relationships with hypnosis. We're dealing with someone so repressed they'd rather play the role of blameless cartoon rabbit or "the funny one" than grapple with their personhood for a single second. This bitch hates agency. And now somebody he trusts can just take that all away? Surely he will have only mature and normal takeaways from this.

I ain't gonna be here for long and I'm gonna be on anon since I don't wanna dox my main, but I'm also from St. Louis and I appreciate you spreading the propaganda!

The moment I found out that every character in The Amazing Digital Circus likely CANONICALLY knows the taste of a gooey butter cake, I NEEDED more people to write about this. I could talk about getting some toasted ravs on The Hill, literally all of them would know what I am talking about and that is INSANE to me. And I need more St. Louis citizens to acknowledge this and act accordingly. If I wasn't a coward about doxxing myself (and also actively writing other projects right now with people who I would prefer not to dox myself to, not that I don't trust them, it's just not information I want everyone to know), I would do the same.

I missed the post-finale hype train, but I'm still coming at ya with not one, but TWO whole chapters (which were not originally just one chapter I could not condense even at gunpoint). Big big tag update as I incorporate some direction I'd like to take after episode 9. This is officially about to be a broader fix-it fic, with chapter 5 already well on its way. God willing it will not be another month for the next update.
