TBB Drinking/Drunk Headcanons
-Used to be able to throw back drinks no problem when he was part of the 501st. After what happened on Skako Minor, he no longer has that capacity. He will get drunk off of one drink. Two, and he’s absolutely sloshed.
-Usually the babysitter when the Batch goes out drinking. Will sip at one drink for most of the night to get a consistent, light buzz. He feels responsible for his bros so he tries not to get really drunk unless he’s had a really bad day.
-When he’s got a light buzz, he’s pretty quiet. He just listens and watches everyone else. He likes being around his brothers when they’re out drinking, they make him laugh.
-He’s a loud drunk, which surprises the Batch at first because he’s a pretty quiet guy overall. His sassy attitude is suddenly gone and he’s very expressive. He’s making jokes, hugging people, telling them how much he loves them. He doesn’t usually get drunk enough to reach that point, but it’s always fun when he does.
-He tells stories from his time in the 501st when he’s drinking. When he’s buzzed, he’s a great storyteller. The Batch loves it and always listen to his stories when he starts to tell them.
-He rarely ever goes to bars with the others. He wants to, but it’s too loud and distracting for him. It’ll give him a migraine that kills for days. When his brothers want to go to a bar, he hands the responsibility off to Echo (before he joined it was Tech). He waits at the Marauder until they return. If Echo gets too drunk to direct them all home, he does go and drag them back to the ship (usually with the help of Wrecker).
-That being said, he DOES drink. If the Batch is lucky enough to snatch some alcohol to bring back to the ship, he’ll partake. He and his brothers definitely have some nights where they all get a little buzzed on the ship together. Hunter wont admit it, but those are some of his favorite memories.
-He’s a pretty quiet drunk. His emotions are definitely heightened, but he doesn’t tend to say much when they’re drinking. He just likes to listen and enjoy the moment.
-That being said, if he gets too drunk, he is a MESS. He starts going on about how much he loves his brothers, and cries about how much they’ve grown. He gets self-conscious about how sappy he’s being and apologizes, but then continues the cycle about how much he loves them. Usually it’s Wrecker or Echo that comforts him when he starts becoming inconsolable. Eventually he crashes and they put him to bed.
-He has forbidden anyone from talking about those moments. No one has followed that rule but Echo. Some of the others are better about hiding who they told, though.
-Because of his high metabolism, it takes a LOT for him to get drunk. He needs several drinks to reach that point. But he also tends to match energy even without drinks, so he’s having the time of his life before the buzz even hits him.
-He loves going to bars. He’s the life of the party, are you kidding? He’s a giant man with an abundant personality and giant heart. He’s on the dance floor throwing back some moves with people he’s never met. He’s throwing back shots like it’s nothing because they barely affect him. He’s showing off his strength to an excited drunk audience. He could have people eating out of his hand if he wanted. That being said, he does prefer to just stay near his brothers, even when they go to bars. Especially when Echo is in storytelling mode.
-Wrecker is a loud drunk too. Honestly, being drunk just makes him as abundant as he is naturally x2. He’s laughing and hugging and cuddling and giggling and just being a happy guy. He is hardly ever sad when he’s drunk. He is already a physically affectionate fella, but even more so when he’s drinking. He has to be holding someone (usually one of his brothers) the whole time. Usually the victim is Tech, but he normally doesn’t mind too much.
-Again, because of his high metabolism, he comes down from being drunk quicker than others. He mellows out a bit usually by the time they need to head back to the Marauder. He’s always on carrying-people-back duty. He is very sweet and comforting when he does. He’s usually carrying either Crosshair or Tech. Sometimes Echo, if he accidentally had more drinks than he should have.
-Almost never has hangovers. Somehow he’s up the next day feeling pretty good while everyone else is suffering.
-He would become a full blown alcoholic if he wasn’t smart enough to know how bad that would be. Drinking makes him feel more “normal”. He feels like he can connect with people better when he’s drunk. He is well aware of the consequences of drinking too much, so he is never the one to offer up drinking on the ship or going to the bar. But if anyone ever offers, he will never turn it down. He only ever drinks when others are around.
-He prefers drinking with his brothers on the Marauder, or with a smaller group of people in a quieter space. That being said, he still has a great time at the bar. He will usually stick close to the people he knows, but sometimes if he’s drunk enough he’ll start talking to strangers.
-Bro does not shut the fuck up when he’s drunk. You think he’s a yapper normally? Boy oh boy is it different when he’s had a few drinks. And he also is suddenly much more expressive. He’s laughing, he’s shouting, his sass is 50% more sassy, and he starts using a lot of body language while he talks. It’s why he likes being drunk. He feels like people understand him better that way because he expresses thoughts and emotions more like a “normal person”.
-Because of that, he usually does tend to get a bit too drunk, especially at a bar. Wrecker is usually the one to drag or carry him out, even if Echo is there. It works out, because when Wrecker becomes clingy, Tech is his grounding point. He likes it, because it’s one of the few times he can get just as “enthusiastic” as his big brother.
-Has the WORST hangovers. Even if he didn’t drink as much as the others, his hangovers are awful. The bros know not to expect him to fix anything that day. Not only because he literally will not be able to, but he will also throw something at them for asking.
-He loves to drink. He will do it anywhere. Hell, he does it alone after a mission sometimes. He sneaks off to drink a bit of rum or whiskey when he gets the chance. Does he have a problem? Yes. Does he really care? No. His brothers do the best to make sure he doesn’t fall into bad habits, but he’s good at sneaking off.
-If he’s at a bar, he very often is a shit starter or a gossiper. He’ll go about and start some mild fights or ask around for some juicy details on others. He doesn’t care if he doesn’t know them; he wants to know everything. And somehow he’s so good at smooth talking his way into convos, most strangers don’t even care.
-Crosshair is also a BRAGGER when he’s drinking. He’ll brag about himself, yes. But he also won’t shut up about how cool his older brothers are. He says things about them that he would never say sober. He talks about how much he admires them. Hunter’s leadership, Wrecker’s enthusiasm, Echo’s clear head, Tech’s wisdom and sass. If anyone dares insult his brothers, he is IMMEDIATELY throwing hands until they apologize to their faces.
-He is an emotional drunk. If he’s happy while drinking, he’s having a great time. If something changes up his mood, it’s very big and noticeable. He’ll get really angry really fast, or suddenly start tearing up about something that seems so small. Because of this, it’s very often that he gets into fights with people for almost no reason. His brothers (usually Wrecker or Echo) tend to keep an eye on him and rein him in if he’s doing too much.
-NEVER talks about what he said or did when he was drunk. Once sober, he acts like nothing happened. If anyone brings it up, he either ignores them or genuinely acts like he has no idea what they’re talking about. (Partly because sometimes he blacks out and actually does not remember.)
-He does eventually get better. After a while on Pabu, he becomes completely sober. He stays away from bars or night outs with drinks for a long time. Eventually he feels comfortable enough to be around people even when they’re drunk. He doesn’t feel the desire to drink anymore, because he knows how bad it is for him.
-Oh she definitely does some shit in her teenage years. She was raised by five older brothers, there’s no way she isn’t drinking and rebelling when she gets older. She sneaks out sometimes to go drinking with her friends, but the Batch always knows about it. Unless she’s putting herself in danger, they don’t do anything. They want her to experience it, in ways they never could.
-That being said, they do make sure she knows that if she does drink, to be CAREFUL. Crosshair especially makes sure she is aware of the consequences of drinking too much. Omega knows of his alcoholism, and did witness some of his lowest lows before he became sober. She, like Tech, is well aware how bad it could be for her so she never goes overboard.
-When she’s an adult, she goes out drinking with her brothers sometimes (all but Crosshair). They’re both nervous and excited to share that side of themselves with her. Wrecker is the most excited, because he has a good idea that she will be a lot like him when drunk. Turns out he’s right, she is also the life of the party when she’s a bit tipsy.
-Omega tends to get a bit clingy when she gets fully drunk, and only wants to be around people she loves. She’ll huddle up by Hunter or Echo, or later Crosshair when he joins them just to hang out. She goes on and on about how much she loves them and how they saved her and made her the best version of herself. It makes them all tear up every time.
-After joining the Rebellion, she hardly ever drinks. It reminds her too much of when she went out to drink with her brothers. That thought makes her sad, and she does not want to become a sad drunk. Occasionally she’ll join some of her friends for a drink, if they manage to get some. She always goes a little light and is sure not to let herself get fully drunk, just a little buzzed. She saves drinking for when she visits home, or sometimes when she calls them.
