Recently saw the trailer for a romcom with a premise I keep thinking of as "the purge but for sex" where single people are only legally allowed to fuck once a year (but our two hets are looking for Real Love, of course) and I'm just not straight enough to suspend my disbelief for this at all. First of all this is set in a christofascist dystopia and I don't think they know. Secondly I cannot imagine a world where this would actually stop literally anyone. They're gonna reinvent cruising culture but for straight people

It's like they desperately want to write Mating Cycles/In Heat but they're too afraid to get that weird with it. Also the guy is really really really ugly but I'm a lesbian so this is just my sacred duty to think that. I digress.
