this is a few days late my bad but p2 but with nebula!
dazai keeps his promise and never tells ophir or barbatos about the tail incident (though he teases chuuya with it a lot, but he would genuinely never tell, chuuya is his first friend, he wouldn't risk ruining this!)
but when ophir gets pregnant, chuuya genuinely doesn't know if the baby will have a tail or not - the scientists messed with dazai and barbatos, who knows if it was genetic - and he doesn't know the details of how ophir's tail works (he knows a few basics but he isn't an expert)
when nebula is born tailless, he's secretly relieved - finally, someone he can relate to, someone "normal" (because being half alien is normal in their house lol)
that is, until ophir finds baby clothes that resemble animals "and some have matching hats with little ears! and!! and look, barbatos! some have tails that attach back!"
so nebula gets dressed up as different animals, from cats to elephants to horses to dogs to sheep, all with little fabric tails - some are sewn into the clothes design, some snap on and off with magnets and snap fasteners)
when nebula is older, he makes chuuya dress to match him (chuuya pretends to hate it but it secretly makes him happy)
one halloween, when nebula is older, he and chuuya have secret matching costumes - they go as ophir and barbatos, with chuuya having a cardboard tail and a tshirt with a frog on, and nebula with cat ears and a tail and facepaint for cat whiskers
