vulnerability. behind the carefully constructed mask of one's humanity, was the object of their true hearts desire. a non broken soul would show you a version of themselves that didn't exist. in contrast a broken soul would have all their insecurities laid bare, like shattered glass. kenzie is in the business of broken souls of all kinds. some deserved the damnation they got, others just got a shit hand.

one day he had asked his master in passing on what gets a soul into heaven. lucifer had laughed, & snidely told kenzie that good & bad was black & white. if you were good you went to heaven, you committed sin you went to hell. a flawed system when essentially the fiery inferno was home to all the ones the heavenly father didn't want. he wonders what life might have been like if he had been by the lords side from the beginning.

" an astute conclusion, one would think." he answers knowingly. "but let me ask, which one would you favour ? the unbroken mirror that showed you what you wanted to see, or would you prefer the beauty of a shattered but deepest desire?"

hands are pressed against the cold stone surface of the well, a twitch in his spine, barely noticed if you knew him well. but no one did know arkham now did they ? he himself didn't even recognize the reflection in the water below starring back at him. the air around him is cold & damp, very unlike home; the eternal flame that would never burn out.

below him, the water shifts & contorts itself, changing shape in the blink of an eye. kenzie had hoped that the mystical well would serve him answers to escape his fate, but alas. the future, is not yet set, only one of many possibilities. his shoulder's are tense, but he takes a deep breath in before turning to face the speaker. the servant of satan is not pleased to be interrupted, but for sake discussion, he decides to bite.
