Β 001 :// Β Β this blog is 20+ only. i do not feel comfortable interacting with anyone younger than that.Β
002 :// Β Β my fc is seth green, but my characterization isn't based on the miniseries... seth was just the richie of my childhood, so that's how i envision him.Β
003 :// Β Β Although this is a book-based interpretation of richie, i've also both incorporated my own headcanons and will not include the racism or sexism from the book; including richie's racist voices. i am portraying richie as gay, although he typically only discovers that in his mid-late 20's. i'm also ignoring That Scene.
Β 004 :// Β Β i am hesitant to write any childhood threads, because i've seen some weirdness in fandoms that include children before. if i do, it needs to be with someone i talk to so i know we're on the same page. i will also not use any icons for those scenes.Β
005 :// Β Β if you have a concern or issue about something i've posted, please contact me personally. if you have the desire to write a vague post, i would prefer that you block me. vague posts cause a great deal of anxiety for me. if you ever suspect i'm vague posting about you, also feel free to contact me, but i promise that i don't vague post; i will speak directly about any issues i have or keep my mouth shut entirely.
Β 006 :// Β Β i use the tag negativity cw on any post i make that is negative about anything including rpc or life in general. please block the tag if negativity brings you down!Β
007 :// Β Β i have a full time job and a neurodivergent brain, so my activity will come and go. please be patient with me, and please do not message me unless we're mutuals.Β

Eddie had almost not noticed when Richie had come over to join them, if only because he was so deep in conversation. It wasn't often that Eddie connected with new people or made new friends, typically keeping to himself and feeling like the friends he did have were more than enough. Best to keep his head down, get through school, and survive another day. He probably wouldn't maintain any of the college friendships anyways, but who also would have thought he'd maintain people he had known since he was like five.
He only snapped out of it upon hearing the nickname, huffing and shooting the smallest little glare that was only half-hearted towards the comedian. "You know I hate when you call me that." He muttered, tucking a curl behind his ear, before smiling and gesturing to the male beside him. "This is Brian. Brian, this is Richie. We've been best friends since like, the dawn of time and then some." He waved his hand in the air as he was talking, always one to talk with big elaborate gestures.
"Brian here was brought to the party by his friend, too. Seems like the outsiders gotta stick together. We were just talking the latest comic books he's read." He smiled, rolling onto the balls of his feet just slightly in a nervous tic. "Are you having fun? Making new friends?" Eddie smiled warmly, his Smirnoff almost empty at this point, which probably also meant he was just the tiniest bit feeling fuzzy because he didn't handle his alcohol well.
Richie certainly hoped that Eddie did not for one minute think that he didn't notice Eddie not noticing him. Not that he was going to say anything about it, because wow way to be pathetic, Tozier.
Still.
He flashed a smile at this Brian guy with a quick nice to meet you. Because he was a polite kind of guy. Sometimes. "You're only an outsider because you hide in the corner, Eds. You gotta get out there. Experience the world."
He hooked an arm around Eddie, leaning in close. "You're a little tipsy, aren't you?" He looked at Brian again. "You can't let him drink, y'know. He's a lightweight. No, he's worse than that. He's a featherweight. Sometimes it's fun, and sometimes he decides he's dying. Isn't that right, Eds?" Was he overusing the nickname just to annoy him? Hm. Hard to tell.

This was the absolutely last place that Eddie Kaspbrak had expected himself to land at in any point of his life, for the obvious reasons. As if the title of Loser's Club hadn't been enough of a give away that he was too much of a loser to belong here, there was also the fact that the amount of people around was starting to give him extreme claustrophobia. In fact, he could feel his head spinning, and he almost wished that he still carried around the fanny pack of his youth and could pop a few Tylenol to fight off the impending headache caused from stress and anxiety.
He shouldn't have been surprised that Richie, to some degree, had gotten popular. Not popular popular, it wasn't like he was a star athlete or anything, but the guy was funny. People liked funny. People did not like people like Eddie, who were consistently on edge, worried about every little thing, and acted like they had a stick up their ass. Not that Eddie would change a thing about himself, because he was going to be the one that didn't end up pregnant before marriage. Wait.
Regardless, it was what led him to standing in the corner at the college party. A frat party, to be precise, which seemed the furthest thing up either of their alleys, but who was Eddie to judge? He had only agreed to come because he was nervous about Richie going alone, and ending up in some serious trouble. Friends had to look out for each other. Only right now there was no looking out, because Richie was nowhere to be seen, and Eddie was standing in the corner milking a Smirnoff Ice as if it was the strongest drink of the planet.
He nearly spilled said bottle as he had been approached, pushing the curls away from his face as he cleared his throat, blushing slightly. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there..." He mumbled, and that had somehow led to this guy leaning against the wall and chatting with him. Him, of all people. Acknowledging Eddie as a person, making the smaller and petite boy laugh and loosen up at this party for the first time all night.
Here's how you survive a party with a bunch of strangers who are exactly the kind of people who would've made your life hell in middle school.
First, you make the rounds. Make yourself known to everybody. People are less likely to stand by while a face they're familiar with gets turned inside out, right? Right. Probably.
Next, you've got to be fun, but not too fun. Too fun is annoying. That was the mistake he made when he was younger. Make jokes that don't go too far. Make sure you aren't the only one laughing.
Then, drink enough to loosen up, but not so much that you lose the important inhibitions. You know the ones. Those inhibitions that keep you from finding the biggest, meanest guy in the room and making fun of his haircut. Yeah, let's keep those ones.
Lastly, don't forget about the friend you came with, because that's the actual friend.
Speaking of which, where the hell was Eddie?
He checked the corners and, sure enough, he found Eddie crammed into one of them. Except, as he got closer, he realized it wasn't just Eddie. It was Eddie and some guy that Richie hadn't seen on his rounds. Kind of a good looking guy. A guy that was making Eddie smile.
Okay... That was. Fine. Good, actually. Because Eddie wasn't miserable at the party, right? He didn't want Eddie to be miserable when he wasn't around, did he?
No. Probably. Maybe...
He edged over to the two of them, not wanting to interrupt (but maybe wanting to interrupt). "Heyyy." He smiled brightly at the two of them. "Who's your friend, Eds?"
