ideally, this takes place directly after utrh. so, jason gave bruce the ultimatum, bruce doesnt take it, and theyre back on bad terms.

id want it to be a little slower than other comics. i want it to be confined to just gotham, and just one villain jason has to deal with. yes, there will be action and all that stuff, but thats going to slowly move away from the spotlight as the comic goes on.

he's focused solely on defeating the black mask (this guy whos in charge of the drug trade/lowk gothams mafia?) and the comic has a lot more detective-y stuff and planning. i definitely want to emphasize that, because theres been this idea that emerged over the years that jasons super impulsive when in reality, every action he takes is planned meticulously. think of it like a long-runnin g game of chess between the two (though black mask is a lot dumber and more impulsive lol.)

and by "focused solely", i mean that. jason has thrown away his entire life-- his hobbies, his health, and his sanity-- in order to operate as red hood (he isnt too different from bruce, in that sense, which is another thing i'll touch on). he is highkey depressed, has ptsd from the joker, and is passively suicidal, but refuses to get any help. his need for vengence is destroying himself, and he takes out his insecurity on other people.

i definitely want to community of gotham to play a big role in this story. gotham is a HUGE part of jasons character. he came from the slums, and is very passionate about protecting its people. i was thinking he could find himself again and heal via interacting with the community.

one idea i had for a character would be an old lady who works at a library. he meets her after taking the first step towards doing something healthy for once (finding a hobby). eventually, he develops a friendship with the woman, and asks her for advice. if she picks up on the fact that he's red hood (which i will keep ambiguous) she doesn't care. i was also thinking he later helps out younger kids, volunteers, and makes friends his own age.

his healing isnt all linear, of course. he loses people, he relapses, and he lashes out when he feels threatened. but he's still getting somewhere, at least.

the batfam doesn't play a major role in the story until the halfway point. obviously his relationship with batman is established, but he doesn't interact with the others much for a while. i was thinking he could start talking to dick first, and then slowly open up to the idea of talking to bruce. yes this is how it went in "nobodys son". you will ignore it.

the final bosses would be him:

a. confronting bruce

b. confronting black mask

i might change my mind on this in the future, but i think it would be good if jason actually fails at stopping black mask. yes, he messed up, but that doesnt define him because he isnt as insecure anymore. he's more than red hood. theres always next time.
