for a long time i was very mean to dnd because

a. people were really annoying about it when they posted about it. this was true in the era when like there was one joke you saw all the time (when you want to play dnd but that would mean playing dnd (this is a comedic observation on how hard it is to organize a session)) and then the general baldurs gate 3 posting as someone who didnt play it (tbh it was just astarion i dont see the appeal he sounds like stewie griffin)

b. every single Funny White Man With A Podcast dicded they needed to also do a dnd podcast but they exist in this weird limbo where it like wants to be funny but also serious but its almost never funny enough for a non dnd fan (like me) to want to watch it because when its being serious its also not good enough to interest me (as a mbmbam fan at the time (in my college era) i did not get into taz because i didnt gaf about dnd and it was not funny or interesting enough to listen beyond whatever my partner at the time wanted me to listen to with them

but although im still not really interested in playing it i do now recognize i was just being a hater im normal now dnd is prefectly fine you can do interesting cool things with it. theres kind of not a lot to say in specific about this show because it is just so generally good. like you watch it and youre like oh yeah okay i get it. i see why this is a classic. its really interesting but this level of very Classical fantasy anime is almost extinct. like really imagine a fantasy anime coming out today with 1 woman in the party. now imagine theres 2 like middle adged dudes in the party. now imagine there are no jrpg elements no stats no levels no isekai. you cant its not possible to imagine. like the closest you get is like frieren i guess right?

i will avoid spoilers in this review but holy fuck what an awesome game. lets face it yall probably do not need me to tell you the game is good or literally fucking anything i know you see the posts that i see hell you probably see even more of them. you sly dogs dont need me to sell you the game but lets just put that aside for the moment.

was going to hold off on reviewing this until i watched the movie but i dont have any plans to watch it soon so i might as well do it now. i should also clarify because weebs may not like this: i initially started watching the show in chronological order (it was the order my download was in) and did not realize how Bad this was until an episode played and it was clearly the season 1 finale and then after that i watched the rest of season 1 in a mostly random order and then i watched season 2 in broadcast order. this was basically the only fair solution i could think of to remedy the problem because it could have been completely pointless to go back and rewatch it the "right way" immediately after i just saw it.

probably the most interesting thing i can do is drop my endless eight hot take: its fine you guys idk what youre talking about. is it the most riveting things ive ever seen in my life? obviously not but still its prefectly fine. it interesting to see the little details that changed and how its directed differently and shit. and you know the payoff is good. kyon is just that fucking stupid it would take him that many tries to come to the obvious solution

the only other big thing is i dont like the artsyle change from the first season to the second i think i just dont like the kyoani style. in this instance to me haruhi is like an iconic character so to see her get samefaced for a bunch of girls who all look the same in shows ive never seen but see get posted is just a little sad to me. i think theoretically i dont mind the kyoani style in the other shows (although admittedly i havent watched them because of their artstyle) but in this specific instance of something going from not that style into that style was a little sad to me. i will eventually watch another kyoani show and try to just get over it though

apparently i never did one for the game so this is a two in one special ill talk about the anime and the game

i played the game before i started watching the anime just because and while i did have a good time with it its a fun game i liked the characters some of the repetition really gets to you after a while near the end. i get its the whole bit of the game but it does eventually get to the point where its like you just need to do one or two things and you know what you have to do but for its a really obtuse objective that might as well rely on rng because you have to manage to keep multiple characters and yourself from being voted for and killed for multiple rounds which sometimes is just not possible they really like to fuck you with on this. now i think if you were to "play optimally" this could be mostly avoided as i think i played kind of badly in the sense that i didnt realize i was fucking up a choice a bunch of times that was locking me out of progressing and when i finally did realize it because i had run out of other things to do i was basically hitting my head against the wall trying to get the event to pop back up because even though theres a button you can hit to create the conditions for an event you still need to become more likely it doesnt technically grantee anything so sometimes youre loop is basically a waste espically if youre far enough into the game that more stats probably wont benefit you. other than that i mean the nature of the game's structure is such that while they set up events to play in a order that makes sense because its still random sometimes it just kind of fells like you are getting just a Collections of Scenes and the lore and character information will just kind of pile up in a way where like. things that should be more meaningful dont get their full effect because sometimes you will see stuff thats not necessarily redundant but minimized if that makes sense.

the show does not have this problem because its a linearly released show they got to pick what order you see the scenes and learn more about each character and it feels really meaningful and its well done and paced. i think the two things you lose in the adpatation is the artsyle. this is not a oh 3d animation sucks!!! things i actually think the show looks great it really does however it is a shame that some of the style is lost in the changeover. probably the most obvious example i guess is jonas like he just looks uglier in the anime im sorry bro. i thought he looked cool in the game. second is the spiritiually replacement to the repetition of the lategame is how much time they spend explaining how mafia/werewolf works in like the early to mid parts of the first half of the show mostly is when it happens. i understand that the characters havent played among us before but everyone has played among us. we all get it you dont have to breifly explain it every episode and add on a single new strategy tidbit or whatever. like honest fine thats fine just sometimes its like yeah i get it not a really problem just something you might notice sometimes.

good fucking lord. truly the emotional equivalent of that video from the sopranos of that guy getting shot by chrissy and paulie like 9 times. visually beautiful movie like the colors are spectacular, and i could get if you dont like the whole every line is sung thing but i thought it was really good. maybe it works because its in french but to me it adds something to the story that i think wouldnt be there if it was all just spoken word. similar sort of vibe to in the mood for love but this was more interested in exploring the experience of the results of separation rather than the buildup of it i guess if that makes sense or you want to phrase it like that (im sure there is a more eloquent way to put it, but i save my best for the ears of the ladies)

what a show man. this is a very interesting show to talk about because this seems like a very subjective show to talk about. like you i feel like a lot of what you get out of this show or how you end up feeling about it can be colored by what you expect from it and how you hear people talk about it. you have people treating lelouch like hes an awesome sigma marty mode badass and iq powerscaling him and you have people who talk about this show like its trying really hard to be smart but is really stupid and just sounds pretentious or whatever and so on and so forth but personally i went into it with pretty much no expectations at least in the sense of what i wanted to get out of the show and had an open mind and was ready to just see what it was and what i would get out of it

and what i got out of this is clearly this is more interested in an emotional message like its kind of funny lelouch is painted as this like extreme genius logical chess master when a lot of his like smartest moments and and epic feats that prove he could solve the hisenberg case or whatever come from like his emotions. he beats schneizel and charles mostly because he emotionally mogged them and like just in general you can tell watching the show its more interested in using its over the top crazy spectacle to express the importance of people being able to pursue their happiness and all that other shit cc said in the last episode of the first season and also lelouch said in c's world and like pretty much everything from the last 2 episodes and shit and also like everything about cc and like how shes awesome and like the best character ever not even because she has a fat ass thats completely unrelated but what is related is her obsession of pizza hut is awesome its really good i love her shes so peak

possibly the cutest movie ever put on to film. sweet and adorable in absolutely every way. im going somewhere amen is such a good song i was listening to this all the time and didnt even realize it was from this so when they dropped a few cords from it i nearly jumped from my seat. just a very nice movie all around and those with the will to believe will see in their hearts the yuri if they so desire. will it completely blow you away and change your life? well maybe i guess its possible but like probably not but you probably will probably smile big and wide and also maybe shed a little bit of a tear or two (as i did) and will have a hoot and a holler of a time

was writing my thoughts for this the other night but then i fell asleep and lost them so sorry if this ends up being short but i do want to say this is a really good movie and you should watch it just in case i dont do a very good job of selling how good it is. i am in fact writing this again at right about to fall asleep

anyways i think this movie has a little bit of everything. really good action with some great set pieces and fun motion, really good mix of comedy obvious a lot of the like physical stuff you know like three stooges type shit or whatever but also there regular style jokes in here i had a bit of a chuckle at some of the lines. probably not the deepest movie you will ever see but it did definately have something to say about gender roles and what not and had some historical and political criticsm for the stuff going on at the time for those of you who would appreciate that. did a little bit of minor homophobic for the fun of it but hey whats new you know. im not like a filme critique type but i did this this had some pretty nice look shots and what not very nice to look at. it helps that some of the most beautiful people on earth are the majority of the main characters in this movie. bridgette lin as tsao wan is maybe the most beautiful woman i have ever seen in my life. upon seeing her i died and was reborn and thus this statement will be true forevermore as the cycle will repeat anew as it has since time immemorial whever i see a beautiful woman

now let me start of by saying this is full spoiler review im gonna talk about everything pretty much i will say i didnt really play the bonus content im not that interested in the extra story stuff the epilogues or whatever they are i played the 2 bonus joke endings but theres no fucking way im playing revelations mode i hardly doubt they could have done anything to change my opinion on the game by adding in a few extra scenes of internal monologues and thoughts and shit haruaki didnt see before

lets get it out of the way the ending is just not that good. what the game does well is basically mostly the meat of the feast sections where things are happening and the atmosphere it at its highest and most mysterious. the ending basically decided to throw all that out to do an absolute shit ton of exposition and loredumping at you and you might be thinking well okay yeah this is a visual novel whats so wrong with that? this is normal! and to that i say slow down there bucko. you actually barely learn anything particularly useful from this section. theres a long section with kiyoshi where sure you get a lot of lore information about the world and stuff but really unless you havent been paying any attention most of it either isnt new or doesnt feel like it is because its basically an extension of what you already know. like they do even more of the rearranging kanji thing they did like 2 or 3 other times and technically you gain new information but also itd be kind of like if the whole game nobody had a name for the bad faction in the feast but it was still really obvious they were suppose to be wearwolves and then near the end you found out actually were in fact werewolves. like yeah no i get it i know theyre doing human sacrifice in the village you dont need to rearrange the kanji to prove it. i will say i do get that actually the other main point of a lot of those sections right before the very end is to get just a little bit more character development from some of them but just in general its kind of a mess ad the only part of it i liked weas the section with chiemi where haruaki fucks around like a jackass and ends up driving her so crazy he slimes her out like 60 times.

that said its a good time to mention for me basically they were the best and only relatively consistently good parts of the game (other than when he flirts with haru. he does that too much and i dont like it otherwise when he flirts i dont really care that much to be honest) i can understand if you dont like him but i really like him because i pretty much immediately realized there was something seriously wrong with him because he pretty much at no point entered the default visual novel protag mode of being confused and angry about why people were dying and being killed and monsters and shit like he basically just wants to be nosey and hes like ohhh whats all this then and is pretty much down for whatever happens and when you realize than like 2 hours into the game he just become incredibly entertaining he is acting like none if matters before he fully even gets into the mindset of "i can just loop this all back itll be fine" like the way he was talking in the first route i thought this guy was on some yoshikaga kira type wavelength. but like he spends the whole first route ragebaiting a village of religious fanatics who are killing each other and also hate his guts just out of curiosity. i get it if you either didnt notice it so by the time it got really out of hand per say or you just thought it was a little much and you dont like him but personally i love it hes awesome and his dynamic with cheimi as basically a match to his freak was great

now, for me where the ending really loses it is with rikako. to be honest i knew there was absolutely no hope after the first time "bedroom womanservant" was brought up. there was just no way they were gonna pull that one of. which is sad because for a minute in the 2nd route they actually did it pretty well . granted its because haruaki is insane and couldnt care less but the idea of her character was a least done a little bit respectfully but then you get to the end and pretty much out of nowhere theres a big fucking monster destroying the city and you immediatly can tell after like 4 other hints at this point anyways that they decided to take the character who was Forced to do That Kind Of Thing at a Young Age was actually evil all along. she was the main bad guy the entire time and her motivation might as well have been because im a spider and im evil. just incredibly disappointing writing to have a character who was for at least most of the game to me kind of funny like her bit of her being kind of stupid and clumsy and horny, much like many of you, im sure, was endearing but i fell the way they handled her was in incredibly poor taste

no real need to mention any other characters from the game, to be honest most of them are perfectly fine. good archetypes to have for the setting and whatnot you might have a couple you like more than the others here or there but to be honest none of them are all that interesting. pretty whatever.

also i dont really know if this is good or bad but clearly i feel like the ending just didnt really know where it wanted things to stand. like the whole game is like oh man are the werewolves real is this god stuff real are these powers real and to be honest they basically do nothing to actually give you any real evidence to work with. like they go with the idea that actually they basically live under constant and extreme surveillance, some how none of these cameras are ever found and every trick and be explained by natrual causes. like dont get me wrong im not surprised in every route the wolves literally like need guns and knives and weapons to defend themselves and get their victims . but oh every door has an electronic lock on it. there is no real evidence to support this but it has to be the case because its done by humans. they have the ability to knock anyone out with gas from basically any location because they have to be able to do that. this is all true information HOWEVER the gods are actually real and rikako actually legitimately has powers and can heal pretty much anything i guess we don't really see her limits but it might as well be anything within reason. and harus god is also real and she can read haruakis mind but also she cant and she just guess but also the story makes literally no sense unless the mujina is real and basically the whole ending goes on like there theres a bunch of stuff that just feels like maybe they wanted it to be a bit ambiguous but they werent smart enough to do that so it just kind of comes out as either nonsense or just plain boring.

also they just drop the fucking spider out of nowehere they immediately take care of it and the final confrontation with rikako is basically just haruaki breaking up with her and she doesnt actually do anything cool spiderly. in the joke ending you see her spider form and it is almost comical how fucking stupid it is that she does not use that in the true ending. and then you move on to have a face off with a guy who is not named but who could be related to chiemi but we dont actually know because they only have like 8 lines in the entire game and haruaki just bullshits at them for a little bit and they leave. i just dont know what they were thinking with this one to be honest.

this is only the second satoshi kon movie ive seen and its been like maybe 8 years since i saw perfect blue but i loved this movie that one was a little too scary for me im not a huge horror/suspense or whatever fan but this was right up my alley in a crazy way. the level of like directing and style and stuff that you would expect from him but in lens of a story about chasing love and hope and dreams over nearly 100 years ohhh my goodness its absolutely peak this is just an absolute audio visual treat brimming with style and emotion with every scene its just beautiful and there are simply no words that do it justice. inject this movie into my fucking veins dude i cried at multiple points in during this movie and especially at the end. wow what a movie

I LOVE FREYJA WION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there were actually portions of this movie where i just wasnt sure if i saw this vision. i didnt really like that it was more of a sequel to passionate walkure than it was the tv show for how doing that kind of set it back from the relationships the characters had in the show but i didnt mind them basically redoing the same thing they did in the show but with the Main Plot stuff still having had happen just truncated like in the movie because at the end of the day i like the bond hayate and freyja have so while it was a little disappoint to see near the beginning of the movie where theres like a weird disconnect between the show and the movie i think you just get used to and over it and its fine. and in many ways the second half of this movie is basically just the ending of delta Again but punched up for a movie with all the callbacks and shit and all the returning stuff and basically as soon as that happened combined with the peak that is hayate and freyjas love for each other and how cool Evil Walkure is my ability to be rational and orjective or whatever other stupid shit goes out the fucking the window. this movie is badass its peak fictions its kino its whatever you wanna call it. and you know what? the big fucking musical ending thats in every macross thing ever? this is like my least favorite until they sing the wind song or whatever at least in terms of like. what i would listen to in my free time. i would listen to any song from sdf/dyrl, 7, frontier any time any day for any reason but delta is like half Whatever to me half really fucking good. the half thats really fucking good i love but some of it is kind of mid to me. its pretty like normal idol music. like the start when they do their own version of snow halation thats like fine. its fine i never need to hear that again but its fine. i like the song where the members are like you dumb fuck. women are awesome and those are the lyrics i like that song. i liked all the songs that were pretty obviously like. guys this is just like freyja and hayate. also i think even though she is way less important in this still a really good showing for mikumo my other favorite character. i loved the scene she had with freyja in towards the beginning of the end of the movie i thought that was really sweet im glad she got that scene. also happy mirage was back to being a character in this one

also wow yet again. makina boobs were bouncing they were out and about they were doing jumpin jacks they were doing tricks on it boy they had lot to say.

watched the show a couple of months ago and watch the movie a few days ago in preparation for zettai live. there was basically no reason to do this i have realized after watching it because i still remember basically the entire plot and theres maybe like. one new song? maybe? and basically nothing else is new and most of the Changes are less we changed it and more we cut it for time like i heard how passionate walkure cuts the mirage aspect of the love triangle but realistically its less that cut it and more that there was just literally no way they could have kept it in the movie because mirage is in like 4 scenes or something. granted i wasnt exactly locked in so maybe im just not being fair but also this is less "passionate walkure is not good" and more "if you literally just watched the show at a pace of an episode a day maybe 3 months ago its like speedrunning the show" passionate walkure is prefectly fine i think definateily not as good as the show due to how much it has to cute but probably still a good watch for someoneone who has not seen the show or has not seen the show in a while.

that being said i think the show is absolutely wonderful i really like frejya and mimuko, reina and makina are a cute duo, hayate and mirage are cool, and kaname and messer are there. i really do like frejya as a protagonist she is so cute and awesome and her and hayate are maybe the best couple in the entire macross series? i feel like this is a seriously low bar if you measure it by overall success and how healthy the relationship is. im a bnig mikumo fan i wish we got more of her, dont get wrong i love her being mysterious and kind of unhinged but i just think its unfortunate that she doesnt get to have her character moments until towards the end of the show and also her backstory is explained by Exposition Guy, Who Only Shows Up To Give Exposition instead of like it being a conversation between mikumo and the other members of walkure and delta flight or whatever. none of the individual elements in the show are my favorite in the macross series so this might technically be my "least favorite" macross (NOTE: THIS DOES COUNT LOVERS AGAIN BUT NOT ZERO) but i still really like it and it comes together to make a great show. overall not my favorite soundtrack either but they do have some banger and mikumo sings her ass off. if you have only seen the movie please watch the show you're missing out on a lot of good stuff especially if you are a fan of. literally any of the characters pretty much
