Played Titan Souls and got sucked into the lore with the opening cinimatic and the three lines of text one of the titans says depending on your progress in the game. my take on the lore (Spoilers, duh) The TRUTH creates the First God The First God creates humans; then creates two guardians, Gol-Iath: Guardian of the First gate and Gol-Hevel: Guardian of the second gate, for protection. One human (Elhanan?) decided to challenge God in search of the Truth. He enters the realm of Titans and climbs the tower, defeating Gol-Iath (taking the guardians hearth, eye, and brain) and Gol-Hevel. At the top of the tower the human fights God and wins, becoming the Second God and casting the First God down to become the “First Titan”. After his victory, the Second God creates four guardians for protection: He raises Gol-Iath to stand guard once more and gives life to Gol-Iath’s missing Eye, Hearth, and Brain (Heart of the guardian, Eye of the guardian, and Brain of the guardian) as secondary defenses. Gol-Hevel’s head is separated from its’ body (which is then chained to the floor in the center of a lava pool in the fire area. Visible in game from bridge.), and then its face from its skull, creating both Gol-Hevel(face): the Murdered Guardian of the second gate, and Gol-Quyin(skull): disgraced guardian of the second gate. Then created Gol-Set: Guardian of the eternal gate, as a last means of defense. In his rule more titans were born around the tower. Some grew naturally(Rol-Quyin: Forged creation of Gol-Quyin and Mol-Guyin: Molten Creation of Gol-Guyin. possibly not natural growth but created by Gol-Quyin as a way of "atonement" for being defeated) while others were the souls of the humans that attempted over through “God” and either died fighting against the titans or lacked the conviction to fight and became lost in the tower. (Yeti: old snow beast, Onyxia: serpent of the cold depths, Stratus: child of the earth and sky, Avarice: manifestation of Greed, Vinethsis: Poisonous flower, Obello: Malformed hallucinogenic fungus) Knight Elhanan: legendary titan slayer is either the mortal body of the Second God, which was cast aside in order to take on the form of The Titan Soul, or another human who attempted to fight Second God and got fairly far but eventually failed. Personally I believe the former is more likely than the latter as I’m not sure how word would get back from a limbo-esque realm that people don’t seem to return from. The Hero also seeks Truth, but in order to fight he must pay a toll. His soul is split into 3 pieces, one piece is put into a single arrow, another into a bow, and the last piece is return to the protagonist. This allows the hero to call the arrow back to him as an alternate means of recovery instead of running over to retrieve it (which is useful once he learns to control this power to his advantage). The toll also acts as a test of worth, the hero gets a single arrow to take out the Titans that stand in his way. If he fails he is not worthy of the Truth (as is evident by Elhanan's fight style and the hieroglyphics after the first guardian). He kills all the Titans and faces off against the Second God, believing that upon its defeat that the Truth would be revealed. After he absorbs the Titan Soul he effectively becomes the “Third God”, but the Truth had yet to concede. In order to gain true knowledge and power, the Hero must face off against the Truth itself. When the quest is finally over true knowledge is awarded to the Hero and he can understand the Titain language. And Now he can rule over the universe as the Third God. Note: After the credits roll it is possible to keep playing the game. Personally I believe this is just a way to practice fighting titans until you can beat them in a few seconds due to the games replay value being a speed running test, however it could also be considered lore wise that: The Hero was tricked and in exchange for true knowledge and power he is unable to leave the Titan Realm, trapped in a limbo destined to fight titans forever.
