not a stupid question. reposting is saving a gif and uploading it yourself. don’t do that. reblogging is what you want to do. use that reblog button (the two arrows forming a rectangle)! tumblr is the reblog site.

i think new people here have a hard time understanding the difference and and up not reblogging at all.

there is no algorithm on tumblr. reblogging is what circulates content around the site. likes are more like bookmarks and to let others know that you’ve seen their post.

creators want you to reblog their content so it spreads to a wider audience and is seen by others who wouldn’t otherwise. so reblog when you can!
