“Oh, shit,” Beatrice said as she pat down their pockets in order to feel around for her card holder. “I would’ve been shit out of luck without that.”

“I think you would’ve been,” Ajax remarked, handing it over to her. 

“It’s scary as hell,” Jamie said, wrapping his arms around himself in an attempt to calm himself down. “I don’t know what to think anymore.”

“Hmm. It’s only scary if you make it scary.” Sienna shrugged. “I don’t either. I’m just not sure there is anything yet that would surprise me.”

“That’s true,” Billie agreed, “But you have more chances of succeeding in a career that has more success rates. That’s just statistics.”

“Well, true. In some jobs, you have to be extremely lucky along with talent. I just think that you have to be prepared for failure.”

“You can love reading without hoarding the books,” Matty pointed out, “I like reading but I do it mostly electronically. There are really cool things they do with used books with recycling them. We’ve had this conversation a million times, though. You know that.”

“I could, but I won’t.” Fleur replied, not feeling bad for it. Reading was both her hobby and potentially her future career. “I know it all, Matty. I just know what I like, I guess. I read a lot of books and it’s what I want to do with my life.”

“I don’t think that’s a bad thing,” Jamie shrugged. “I think we could do with more people with loud personalities.”

“Me either. I wouldn’t change myself for no one.” Rosalia nodded, ‘Not too many, but a few more would be okay.”

“Don’t ask. I just escaped from the dinner party from hell and I deserve this,” Brooks mumbled, gesturing at the several plates of fastfood on the table. The boy slouched down in his seat, emitting a heavy sigh. “But… I’m actually not that hungry anymore, so if you want to grab a bite, you’re welcome to.” 

Sienna pouted. “Tell me, Brooks otherwise I’ll like be pissed off at you.” The redhead shook her head. “No thanks. That’s more carbs than I usually have in like at least a week.”

“Oh, did I? For a second I thought you were offering me something, babe” Brooks grinned, shooting Ajax a wink as he took the packaged condom from the male. “Thanks, you saved me from blue balls and an awkward moment, or perhaps even an std, if I were hammered enough. A true hero.” 

“Not this time mate,” Ajax laughed, smiling at the redhead. “Well, I’m glad that I could be at service. At least you know your chances of kids for today is pretty low. You okay?”

“Yeah, you’ve got a point there, I just can’t relate because because I didn’t have the best experience with my teachers. Mine were all total buzz kills.” Anita replied. “Oh really? That’s awesome. Have you ever thought about publishing your works?”

“Everyone just has so many different kinds of experiences so it’s normal. I think I was just very lucky that my teachers got me.” Fleur shook her head. “Maybe one day. I haven’t done one quite perfect enough yet.’

“that’s for sure. i wish i could be as carefree as you are.” she breathed out.

“You’ll learn one day, sweet friend. I’ll teach you my ways.”

“yeah, i probably would’ve but i would’ve done it in a hurry because i’m sure it was freezing. i probably wouldn’t have done anything to ruin my relationship with my brother.”

“Yes, it for sure. I’m up for a lot of things, but if I had to do something that got me or my brand negatively, it just like wouldn’t have been worth it.”

“why wouldn’t you do both? i’m sure you’ll be able to if that’s really what you want to do.”

“I’m pretty much in practice six days a week at the moment so I don’t have time, but it’s something I’m always curious at.”

“almost a month, i believe but i don’t normally date and mason just seemed like a good guy and i don’t know why i’m rambling.”

“I guess time goes quickly. Oh, I get it. I find you talk a lot like that when it’s about someone you really like.”

“it does, doesn’t it? we probably shouldn’t dwell on how unreal it seems and just enjoy it instead.” he breathed out. “do you wanna dance with me or something?” he suggested.

“Hmm. I don’t often go to things like this anymore. It’s all you can really do.” The brunette shrugged, “Sure. I can’t remember the last time I danced.”

jesse would totally get it if she was busy but he was glad she wasn’t. he relaxed slightly and bit down on his bottom lip, “i can’t either but we had fun, didn’t we?” he smiled at her and led her into his kitchen. “so, you’re off for the day? any requests for lunch or are you good with anything?”

The brunette could tell that he was a little nervous and she would be lying if she said she didn’t feel at least a little bit nervous. She wasn’t too sure how to date, since her last relationship had been long, she didn’t know how people went around it now. “For sure! I feel bad you had to rush off though. They’re lucky an officer was there.” Persephone smiled, nodding her head. “Yep! Doesn’t often happen that often. I’m fine with anything. What were you planning on doing?”

jesse ran his hands over his face and nodded in agreement, “i’ve had a decent amount of coffee myself. it’s been a long week, hasn’t it?” but it hasn’t been just a week. it’s been a long six months. 

“I think I’ve worked at least eight hours of overtime in the past week. It sucks the reason why we’re so busy, but it’s normal.” Bryony smiled faintly at him. “How’s it been for you?”

“i don’t necessarily have a sensitive stomach but i know for sure that i could never deal with that kind of stuff.” he confessed, shaking his head.

“I don’t think that many people would be able to deal with it. Eating gross stuff isn’t for the fainthearted.”

ariella could hold her own. that, she was confident about and she blamed it on the fact she grew up having to look out for herself. so when she heard someone speak behind her, she wasn’t afraid. she eyed the male for a moment and let her eyes shift to her wallet that she dropped. she gave him a short nod and flashed him a smile before grabbing the item she’d dropped. “thank you.”

Ajax was relieved, realising quickly that Ariella was the kind of person he had grown up with. He’d met many different types of people on his walks home, and someone like her was a welcome breath of fresh air. “All good. It’s so easy to misplace things around here.”
