Read to me. Anything. Pick up the newspaper and read the hints from the cross word section. I don't mind. Just keep talking to me. Let me close my eyes and wrap myself up in every syllable you speak. Let me soak in your cadence; a rhythm so beautiful even my heartbeat is jealous. As my eyelids flutter, whisper slowly and softly, tell me all about your day. Tell me how your feet hurt. Vocalise all of your joyful moments from start to finish. Tell me everything. Or nothing. Just talk. Let your tongue waltz behind your lips freely. I want to hear you smile. I want to hear your happiness. Fill the spaces in my head with pieces of you, mosaic my mind with fragments that create an imposing picture. One I can never forget. I want to play you on repeat, over and over, incessantly, the most beautifully broken record. Read your shopping list, read it to me twice, tell me you’re out of milk, tell me again. Never stop telling me. I don’t ever want to forget the music you make. I love you.
