âDo you mean the words that I know when you speak of knowledge, or are you talking about the extensive limit of it?â He wasnât sure which way to interpret the presented statement. It could easily just be accounting for the words that he knows given that was the extent of the conversations were about, just building his vocabulary.Â
âW-Would it be alright ifâŚif I come to you for questions?â He was still trying to get comfortable with the difference in how Lilith led when compared to Belos. Though his experience with her predecessor was small, Belos made it apparent that Abel was tasked with the elimination of wild witches as was the illusion that was presented. No questions asked.Â
Though Abel did have a question, but never got the chance to ask it, which would turn out to be a blessing in disguise.â
âWell, I suppose knowing both would be nice but, for the time being, I meant the limit of your knowledge of words,â Lilith responded. âIt would be nice to know what will need explaining and what you already know so that we donât rehash things- wouldnât want to waste time.â
Her head tilted at the request but she nodded. âOf course you can. And if I donât have an answer immediately, Iâll get back to you. Do you have a question for me now?âÂ
Abel would nod his head in response to Lilithâs response. âThereâs not much and it mainly came through Belos before he departed.â Though Abelâs use of the term was departing for the Day of Unity. âIâll spend time to get familiar with words so I can better speaking.âÂ
At the mention of any present questions, he would shake his head. âNo, just since you have a high position, didnât know if you would be willing to part with time to answer questions I may have.â Abel might not be the best with speaking, but he could compensate somewhat through visual cues, though sometimes that would be erroneously in and of itself.

Abel would nod his head. âI can try to answer any questions you may have for me.â He wasnât sure how well he would be able to answer, given his biggest problem was his limited vocabulary.Â
He wasnât sure how well he would be received if people found out he was created by Belos, but he was once again acting on an assumption that he was the only person created by Belos for his own aims.Â
âWell, Iâm honestly curious what the limit of your knowledge is,â Lilith replied and her head tilted thoughtfully. âIt might be a good idea to get some books for you to read and learn from in addition to whatever I can teach you. And maybe get you to interact with othersâŚâ
âDo you mean the words that I know when you speak of knowledge, or are you talking about the extensive limit of it?â He wasnât sure which way to interpret the presented statement. There was still much that needed to be done for the reconstruction of the Boiling Isles. Between all that has happened with Belos revealing his true colors and the Collector.Â
The main aspects of the reconstruction was the shift in how the Boiling Isles would be run. The Coven System was still a possibility, but given its ties with Belos, there wasnât much belief that it would stick and that a new established governance would be required. But with the destruction of most if not all the materials surrounding the âSavage Agesâ as Belos called it, there wasnât much else for the residents to go off of.
Thankfully, neither has caused serious damage to town itself. Most damage was limited to the establishment of a makeshift city inside of Hexside School. All the materials that were taken from various areas of Bonesborough. These materials had to be returned to where they were taken from. Given the circumstances surrounding the theft of the items, no one was punished.Â
Luz, Amity, Lilith, Eda, Raine, Hunter, Willow, and Gus took the time to get used to the Boiling Isles, free of the series of strange and at times frightening events. Camila wanted to take the time to get used to the area that her daughter had spent so much time in.Â
âFeels so weird, seeing the Boiling Isles so peaceful for the first time in who knows how long.â Luz admitted, taking greater pleasure and anticipation in seeing the area that held so many memories for her, free of any reckless or malicious schemes that are immediately present.Â
âWill take some time to get used to the scenery. But it is peaceful.â Camila retorted, still trying to get acclimated to some of the residents of the Boiling Isles, but they seemed nice enough that she felt it was only a matter of time to be able to speak with them.Â
âYouâll get used to it Mama.â Luz responded affectionately, knowing that it took a while for her to get used to them herself.Â
âLilith....â A voice calls out behind the group, prompting Lilith to indirectly guide the entire group to turn around, coming across Darius who had a calm yet serious look on his face as his gaze dances across all the members of the group.Â
âYes, Darius?â Lilith inquired, unsure about the reason why she was singled out among the group. The last time that she had been on good terms with Darius was before she left the Emperorâs Coven. Given what had happened during the Day of Unity, Lilith doubted that Darius would even give a passing glance to the concept of following the coven system set up by Belos, but that only made the topic of discussion even more elusive.Â
âThere is no telling how long it will take for the damage Belos had created to be undone, but the Boiling Isles needs some sort of authority figure to ensure that Anarchy doesnât ensue. All the coven heads agreed that you would be best suited for the task, some more openly than others.â Darius stated outright, but several of the coven heads initially believed they were the best choice to rule, but eventually a consensus was reached with Lilith as the chosen ruler.Â
Compared to Belos, Lilith was a clear and welcomed improvement and congratulatory glances went toward Lilith, but Lilith herself was still trying to take in the decision.Â
After several silent moments that slowly escalated in awkwardness, Lilith took a deep breath. She doubted there were many who would want to lead after the bad publicity that accompanied Belosâs rule, the next closest option in her opinion was Hunter, but after everything he had been through, Lilith knew that he has earned some time to live a normal life.Â
âAlright, so who is my council?â Lilith inquired, drawing a confused look from Darius, accentuated with his right eyebrow raised with a mixture of confusion and curiosity.Â
âCouncil?â Darius wasnât sure what a council was going to have with the style of ruling that Lilith has in mind.Â
If it wasnât for accounting how Belos ruled, Lilith wouldâve approached the lack of a council to be a bad sign. Circumstances changed her outlook, so she would just take a deep breath. âPeople with knowledge about various aspects of guiding an area. This is new to everyone, so weâll just start with the coven heads and work our way from there.âÂ
âVery well. For the moment, we are still using the grand hall of Belosâs castle for the meeting area. Better to start somewhere familiar so there isnât much explaining needed to get to the location. We can identify a better location later. No one wants to be in the castle longer than necessary.â Darius retorted before sending a calm friendly wave to the group as he turned around and started on his way to the castle.Â
Letting out an exasperated sigh, Lilith would turn toward the rest of the group. âLooks like I will be having my hands full for a while. Iâll catch up with all of you back at Edaâs house. Relax and enjoy the scenery.â Lilith stated before walking slightly accelerated to catch up to Darius before the two began discussing various matters.Â
âRaine and I need to make an early break for the house to ensure the Collector isnât turning it into his playhouse. Heâs getting better, but there is still room for improvement.â Eda and Raine would turn toward the forest surrounding Bonesburrough and started walking toward the Owl House.
âStill have some ways to go before everything is back to normal.â Hunter inquired, though his concept of normal was still in the works, but now that he was free of his moniker of the Golden Guard he could enjoy his life, or at least the life that shouldâve been Calebâs that Belos stole from him.Â
âWhat do you consider normal?â Amity inquired, turning to look at him while she uses the time to play through the sequence of events. She barely had any real time to think between stopping the Draining Spell, the hasty retreat amidst the Collectorâs initial release, finding a way back to the Boiling Isles and then racing to stop Belos from manipulating the Collector again.Â
Before Hunter could really try and pinpoint what he could consider normal, Amity had finished her playthrough of events. âI need to find my dad. Also, with Belos out of the picture, I donât think my mom.....â Amity explained before a voice cut her off from a distance.Â
âLadies and gentlemen, it is our pleasure at Blight Industries to introduce our newest product.â A familiar yet unwelcomed voice sounded throughout Bonesborough that emanated from the city square.Â
Well, at least that answers that question. Amity thinks to herself before the remainder of the group makes their way to as close as they can get to the city square.Â
To the surprise of no one in the group, but to most if not everyoneâs chagrin, Odalia was up on a platform and beside her was what appeared to be a young man with deep violet almost black skin, adorned in midnight black armor that consisted of a helmet, armor, a pair of gauntlets and a pair of boots. Almost beaming out from within the helmet were a pair of jade green eyes that scanned the crowd, hovering and searching, passing over everyone in the group.Â
âRest assured. We were entirely unaware of Belosâs intentions and were just as horrified when we learned the truth. We wouldnât have offered the abomatons if we were aware of this fact.â Odalia proclaimed, making sure to eliminate as much of the possible unease and suspicion as possible from her part in nearly making the Draining Spell a success.Â
âTo assist in rebuilding, we have come up with a new model abomaton. Far more advanced than any previous model. So advanced that it has a name. Its name is Abel. Rather than just blindly following orders, Abel can receive the orders and execute them by his own thinking and planning. He is also so advanced that he is the only successful model that we have created. We are in the middle of trying to mass produce him, but it will take time. Abel is able to speak, so feel free to talk with him.â Odalia proclaimed before taking her leave. She had better things to do than to see how the product is handled. She had other people to do that, but between the draining spells and the havoc created by the Collector, practically all of them were recovering.Â
Amity wasnât sure if it was a good idea to try and pursue Odalia. The only thing she knew is that if her mother was joyful about something, at this point, it was always going to be something bad for her, Luz, maybe even both of them. That only made her suspicious of Abel.Â
With Abel being surrounded by various residents of the Boiling Isles, so Amity didnât consider him to be much of a threat at the moment.Â
âAmity, letâs head back to the Edaâs house.â Willow prompted gently, though she could tell that Amity was a bundle of nerves following Odaliaâs sales pitch for Abel.Â
Keeping her eyes in Abelâs direction for a few more seconds to make sure it wasnât trying to follow them, eventually Amity would let out a deep sigh of exasperation and nods her head before turning to face Luz, Willow, Gus, Hunter, and Camila before they all started toward Edaâs house.Â
Several minutes later and part way through the forest, Luz stops and looks around.Â
âSomething the matter Luz?â Willow inquired, though it wasnât long before the unease spread, and everyone looked around the forest trying to find the source.Â
âFeels like someone or something is watching us.â Luz admitted, but being in the forest meant that it could be anywhere. Luz could only hope that it wasnât Belos. He was a crafty and manipulative person, so there was always a chance he had managed to escape and would aim again for revenge.Â
Behind one of the trees, a single hand in a glove draws a green magic circle, hidden among the foliage.Â
Vines would spring up from the ground end ensnare everyoneâs feet, scaring and surprising everyone. âVines? Snapdragon, come out!!â Hunter barked out angrily as Willow shifted her focus to getting everyone free.Â
Emerging from the trees wasnât Terra, it was Abel. Amity would narrow her eyes while everyone else outside of Willow were still confused by why he was here.Â
Abel didnât speak, but instead used a portion of the material that made his body to create a sword in each hand before rushing straight toward Luz.Â
âMija, look out!â Camile shouts before throwing her bat toward Abel.Â
Abel kept his path straight but wasnât oblivious to the incoming projectile. His stance shifted with his right draped over to the left side of his body, across his chest, with his left hand tucked near the back of his body. Once the bat was close enough, Abel slashes straight threw the bat with the sword in his right hand as he flings the blade in his left hand toward Luz as a large stiletto. Shortly afterwards slashing through the bat, the right sword is thrown as a spinning blade toward Luz, not breaking his stride toward her personally.Â
For the moment, just considering Abel to be an upgraded abomaton that wasnât, couldnât, or didnât fire blasts like previous models, there wasnât any consideration to using their palismans to take to the skies especially since someone would have to grab Camila among the fighting.Â
âKnew she was up to something and that you were trouble.â Amity states accusatorily as she steps in front of Luz and uses the proximity to absorb the approaching blades into the mass of abomination goo that she keeps on hand as well as to affect Abel within the expanse of her own magic circle.Â
Once all the weaponized goo was part of her mass, she would break the circle, causing the goo to fall to the ground. Abel would manage to hop away from Amity to keep from following suit, but not without having his right arm collapse into abomination goo also, the right gauntlet falling to the ground.Â
By this point, Willow has managed to get everyone free. âWhy is Abel attacking us?â Gus inquired but wasnât going to let his confusion deter him from defending himself.Â
âProbably my momâs orders and itâs not us itâs after. Itâs Luz.â Amity stated matter of fact as she made her way toward Abel. He was another abomaton, so something she could easily get rid of once she was close enough.Â
Abel used his left hand to form an orange magic circle, which stopped everyone in their tracks for a few moments, surprised that it was able to perform such a feat.Â
Abelâs body would collapse into goo, but the goo was also covering the hole that Abel made a short term escape through.Â
âHow is an abomaton able to use magic?â Willow asked, struggling and also slightly shaking at what that could mean in the future given that Odalia said she was in the process of mass producing abomatons like Abel.
âDoesnât matter, Amity got rid of him, right Amity?â Hunter retorted, since Abel was apparently reduced to goo and she was most proficient with abomination magic.Â
âNo, I didnât get a chance to make the circle. Get your palismans out and get into the air. He canât follow us there without exposing himself.â Amity stated shaking her head as she got Ghost to attach to her staff.Â
Willow, Gus, and Luz brought out Clover, Emmiline, and Stringbean respectively and followed suit.Â
âAmity, let mama hop on the staff with you. If he is aiming for me, I donât want her getting hurt.â Luz stated before heading into the air.
Under the ground, a small portion of abomination goo was still attached to an artificial magic staff and formed another yellow magic circle and shortly afterward would break the circle.
A stone pillar would erupt from the center of the group and shortly afterwards break apart and start falling in various directions, causing them to split up.Â
âI am not going to like this.â Camila complained before joining Amity on Ghostâs staff. Hunter teleported intermittently as he made his way to Willow to join her on Cloverâs staff as Gus looked to make sure that everyone was accounted for before taking off so all four had a good view of the forest, but couldnât see much underneath the canopy since of all the trees.Â
Eventually, the artificial magic staff would emerge and the abomination goo would reform around the staff with the armor pieces in tow, reforming Abelâs body.Â
While lacking some normal aspects associated with bile production and usage of normal witches, Abel could still only utilize a certain amount before he started to succumb to similar effects.Â
Abel had to think of a way to execute the objective. He wasnât going to sacrifice his life when he estimated he can be of more use than just this purpose. Examining the area, he couldnât see anyone and as much as they couldnât see him, he couldnât see them through the canopy.
âI got a plan.â Luz states before taking a deep breath and slapping an invisibility glyph on her forehead.Â
Unable to see Luz, the only belief was that she was heading down toward Abel under the effects of the glyph, so Amity, Gus, and Willow headed down with their staffs, taking Camila and Hunter with them.Â
Once they were seen, Abel would just acknowledge their presence, but wouldnât attack them, validating Amityâs idea that he was only after Luz.Â
Unsure about Luzâs plan, all they can do is to try and stall Abel while Luz gets her plan ready.Â
Gus creates four clones and have them rush toward Abel as Willow has vines and roots emerge from the ground and slam down toward Abel as Hunter teleports around at various speeds and angles to disorient Abel while trying to get close to him. With her bat destroyed, Camila had to remain away from the fight to keep from getting hurt, otherwise, she might cause Luz to break out of the invisibility glyphâs effects earlier than desired.Â
Abel would weave around the vines and roots, slashing through them with a pair of new swords formed from the abomination goo of his body when necessary, taking some time to form a violet magic circle and turning a portion of his body into projectile needles and fires them to restrain Gus for a while.Â
âDonât think so.â Amity would get in the way of the needles and return them back at Abel.Â
Abel would destroy the clones and vines that got in his way, but wouldnât attempt to avoid the redirected needles, raising his arm so the needles just got reincorporated to his body.Â
That moment of near stillness was all that Hunter needed to get behind him and use Abelâs armor against him by kicking the armor, taking the staff somewhat sandwiched between the metal with it and Abel would react by shifting his body to stay with the armor and staff.Â
As Hunter began his approach for a second swift attack, Abel draws a pair of violet magic circles and have the abomination goo of his body shoot out in various directions like a life-size pincushion, but with the pins pointed outward. Hunter is able to barely react, though some of his clothes get torn by the sharp ends of the pins and just circles around Abel, looking for an opening to attack.Â
During a pass when Hunter is on the same direction of him as Guz, Amity, and Willow, Abel quickly reforms his body and hops away from the four of them, keeping a cautious and wary eye on them. He was more used to physical combat than magical combat, so he didnât have much bile left and needed to reserve a small portion to keep his body intact.Â
All four of them and Camila would relax and smile. Abel was curious about why they were smiling and began to turn around, but by that time it was too late.Â
âGotcha.â Luz manages to say through slightly ragged breaths from holding her breath for what felt like an eternity, she took the opportunity while Abel had his back toward her as he observed Guz, Amity, Willow, and Hunter to approach Abel from behind and quickly plants and activates an ice glyph on his back, trapping his body from the neck down in ice.Â
âEveryone alright?â Luz inquired concerned given she had went off without much notice.Â
âWeâre fine. Question is, what do we do with Abel?â Willow inquired, looking over at the trapped abomaton.Â
âI have an idea.â Amity stated calmly as she began to draw a violet magic circle again.Â
To everyoneâs surprise, Luz interrupts her. âAmity, stop!â Her voice was soft, yet also rushed, just wanting Amity not to complete the motion.Â
Amity was at a loss and looked over at Luz. âLuz, he is trying to kill you.â Amity remarked in retaliation, but knew where Luz was about to go.Â
âYeah, but so did Hunter technically. Iâll explain once we get back to Eda and Lilith returns from being Empress for the day.â Luz rebuts before shifting her attention to Abel. âAbel, I am going to let you go.â Luz would add on before looking over at Willow.Â
Willow was still personally concerned for what Luz was thinking, but knowing that Luz had the best of intentions, Willow took the cue and had vines erupt and crush the ice until it broke.Â
Free from the ice, Abel looked among all those he had previously fought against. Amity was still apprehensive of him being in the area, Luz was more welcoming, Hunter was cautious, Gus and Willow were mainly just worried about how Abel would react but werenât immediately identified as defensive or combative.Â
Examining his options and his current situation, Abel would turn toward Bonesburough and would run away from the group for a couple dozen feet before stopping and turning toward the group.Â
The only significant differences between his up-close examination and looking over at them from a distance was Camila was with the group, Amity narrowed her eyes further, while Luz only gave a friendly wave.Â
Unable to think why Luz had let him go but knowing that winning the fight was near if not entirely impossible, Abel took his best option to return to Odalia and would turn back toward Bonesburough and restart his run.Â
âHope you donât regret letting him go Luz.â Hunter states cautiously, knowing the feeling of being sought dead, but Luz remains undeterred.Â
âTrust me, Iâll explain later.â Luz states carefree before restarting the trek back to Edaâs house.Â
While they waited for Lilith, the situation about Abel was informed to the Collector, Raine, Eda, King, Hooty, and Owlbert.Â
A few hours would pass before Lilith arrives at Edaâs house, slightly worn out from the dealings with the coven heads.Â
Some of them still wanted some resemblance to the coven system to maintain some degree of reputation and pedigree to their titles under Belos, but they were eventually convinced that the system needed to be dismantled and replaced. With what was something that was yet to be decided.Â
âSorry about the delay.â Lilith profusely apologized. Though she was acting Empress, she did not want any part of portraying that image. The role was expected to be short-lived and wanted it to diverge from Belosâs selfish displays about his position.Â
âDonât worry about it, Lilith. Do you remember that time we went to the past to meet with Philip and saw that girl summon an abomination? Did you see something when she hugged it?â Luz hoped that she wasnât the only that saw that effect, so she wanted to make sure.Â
âYes, it....smiled.â It took a while for Lilith to remember that event, partially because she didnât want to remember the later events of that excursion, mainly being offered as a sacrifice.Â
Hearing the statement about it smiling shocked and surprised everyone outside of Luz. âSo I wasnât the only one that saw it.â Luz proclaimed happily.Â
âWhat does that have to do with Abel?â Amity inquired still not trying to see how the two are connected.Â
âAbomatons are altered abominations, all the abomaton models before Abel simply followed orders. Abel however is capable of thinking on his own, though it might be somewhat limited due to his exposure with Odalia.â Lilith interjected calmly, earning an enthusiastic nod from Luz.Â
âYeah, before Belos, magic was treated with respect and kindness, under Belos, it was only viewed as a means to an end.â Luz added on.Â
âWhat does Abel able to think have to do with the abominations in the past being able to show emotions?â Amity responded, the explanation only adding to her confusion, rather than diffusing it.Â
âI can explain that one. Thinking and feeling are two sides of the same coin. You cannot have someone capable of thought that doesnât have any feeling and someone with feeling requires them to think. It applies to everyone and everything.â Camila states, somewhat enthusiastic about being able to contribute to a conversation.Â
âSince Abel is able to feel, given the way Odalia is, I am sure that Abel will eventually be able to see that it isnât good to follow her.â Luz proclaims optimistically.Â
âAre you sure youâll be able to convince him Luz?â Hunter inquired, not as positive about the situation, given the uniqueness of it.Â
âWouldnât be the first time I played a part in getting someone to change sides.â Luz responds with a coy grin on her face as she looks over at Hunter, earning a playful laugh at Hunterâs expense.Â
âNot sure why you want to convince him, it wouldâve been easier just to get rid of him.â Amity states, not seeing why it would be worth the extra effort for something that may not be able to work out.Â
âLook at it this way Boots. Pretty sure it will feel better to turn one of her own projects against her than to just destroy it.â Eda interjects calmly with a smug grin on her face.Â
âGiven all that she has done to practically everyone I know, that does seem like a good retribution for her to me. We still need to think about shifting the mentality about magic to how it was before Belos.â Amity states, shifting the conversation now that she was sold on the idea of allowing Abel to live.Â
âI can take care of the proclamation regarding that once we have a good starting point for rebuilding the Boiling Islesâ government. Given all that Luz has done and all the changes that have occurred since her arrival, she would be the best speaker to present it.â Lilith replies, thinking through how to phrase that in a way that would welcome the transition in ways other than as an abject divergence from Belosâs thoughts on magic.Â
Meanwhile, Abel barely had much bile left to shift or maintain his body and limited his use of what bile he had left, so he was stuck in his normal appearance as he made his way to Blight Industry.
Luzâs generosity toward him perplexed him as Abel made his way to Odalia. Odalia sat in her seat, with a smug grin on her face, expecting that Abelâs return meant good news for her and would accept nothing less than that.
âWelcome back Abel. I take it that the job is done. That human girl is out of the way.â Odalia spoke calmly, her grin quickly fading as Abel shook his head.
âSorry Odalia, ran out of bile so I couldnât get the job done. Just need some time to rest and recover then I will head back out.â Abel responded while watching Odalia pulling out a strange remote.
âYou better Abel, but just so you have some additional inspiration to make sure you get the job done this time.â Odalia quipped lightly as her right pointer finger along the edge of the remote. The remote had a black dial with a green button underneath the dial as well as a red button. Her right pointer finger and her right thumb turning a dial with five numbers to the number three before pushing a green button underneath the dial.
A painful shock forced Abel to the ground as the remote controlled the special chip Odalia installed around the artificial magic staff that allowed Abel to use magic. The goo that formed his body was unaffected by pain, but the staff was effectively his core and that pain was impossible to ignore in any extent.
Watching callously at the display, Odalia got up out of her chair and walked around her desk toward Abel.
âLet me make myself clear Abel. I do not care what you have to do. I just want that human girl gone. If you have to sacrifice yourself to do it, then so be it. I have tolerated enough failures between the twins failing to live up to the family image, Amity turning against me despite all the things I have done for her, and even Alador choosing to abandon the business we spent so much time building up to where it is today. I will not tolerate you failing me. Since you are not a person, I can treat you anyway that is necessary for you to do your job. You are nothing more than an abomaton, no one will care if you are gone. Do I make myself clear?â Odalia stated scowling down at Abel.
âYes.â Abel stated through his pain, while the pain was wracking his body on the inside, he lacked the vocal cords to be affected by the pain.
âGood.â Odalia stated simply as she went back to her seat and sat down. âGet your pitiful face out of my office. Get your rest and get the job done this time. Be thankful I went easy on you with your punishment this time. Next time, I will not be so generous.â Odalia would turn off the electrical shock and return the remote to the drawer it was in.
Abel would pick himself up off the floor and nod before leaving the office.
Odalia would simply sigh to herself before turning to face the window of her office. âDoesnât matter how advanced he becomes, Abel is still a failure.â She would stand back up and walk around her desk.Â
âItâs criminal that someone as important as me has to do dirty work, but if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Even without Alador, there is still plenty of people that can find a way to make use of this.â Odalia states calmly as she pulls out a vial from her pocket containing a dark green almost black liquid.Â
âJust need to get the workers to make a large number of copies of this sample so that we can use it without losing all of it.â Odalia would add on before tucking the vial back in her pocket and walking out of her office.Â
Abel was still unsure if he could really be trusted since he was created by Belos. The least that he could is at least reciprocate her trust with his cooperation and assistance.Â
âIâll do my best to help and be a friend.â Seeing the outstretched hand, Abel was confused, mainly about if he should accept the hand up. Words were one thing, but actions and expressions were another. Though he couldnât understand the basis of the gesture, he could still tell the warmth that emanated from the gesture and that was what he based his reaction of off.
âGood, good. Now then, thereâs lots to learn. Iâll get you started on learning more words and what they mean. Then weâll move onto common courtesy and being able to function in societyâŚâ
It was a lot but it would be necessary, especially if she wanted Abel to feel integrated, rather than outcast. Having him feel like part of their side would hopefully prevent any feelings of resentment that might lead to straying towards what Belos mightâve designed him for.
@sad-boy-coven for Hunter. (Canât tag rulerzreach--f4n)
Abel didnât require any rest, food, or water. It made it easy for him to maintain a current watch and examination for his target. Odalia wasnât going to leave any openings. She had put up with enough deviation from her plans for her family. Once Luz had entered the picture, all her plans were completely ruined.
The intent was that just as much influence that Luz has with her presence, that removing her would effectively undo the âdamageâ that she had caused. At the least, it would prevent the situation from deteriorating any further.Â
Though designed for Belosâs aims, which were now under heavy scrutiny and harsh suspicion. Odalia kept the only successful creation from the Reaper project and used the guise of rebuilding the Isles to present Abel with his directive.Â
His ebony black armor protected the violet abomination goo that formed his body. Neon green eyes looked over the area to find his target.Â
Though as his eyes scanned across the crowds, he came across a pair of eyes starting back at him. â....Yes?âÂ
âThe confrontation lasted only a few seconds with you injured and me unharmed. You may know how to fight, but you donât have even the slightest clue about combat.â Abelâs words were blunt and to the point.Â
âUntil you can demonstrate the capabilities that are expected of someone bearing such a title, then the title is meaningless and will be at risked of being ridiculed.â

Abel kept his glance at the floor up until he heard her speak, at which his gaze turned toward Lilith. âOkay.â His voice was wounded by his grief. It was less that he didnât trust the empress, it was more that he didnât trust himself. If Belos was bad and made him, then as far as Abel could figure at the moment, that means he was made to be bad.Â
Hearing Lilithâs follow up words, a small smile would appear on his face. âIâŚ.can?âÂ
ââŚâŚfor interrupting.â He couldnât say the word âsorryâ at the moment as Belos wasnât the type to apologize for his actions.Â
âIf I can help, I want to help.â With his body being abomination goo, he could easily manipulate it doing the magic circles inside his body as long as the impact of the magic circle was on his own body. Otherwise, he would still have to perform the circles externally.Â
âYes, you can,â she responded with a small smile. âYou get to decide whether youâre good or bad.â
She held her hand out to him, open and palm facing up in a welcoming gesture. âI think you can help. I think youâre a friend.â It was the most simplistic way of putting it but she was sure that once he was more educated, itâd be easier to communicate.

Though as his eyes scanned across the crowds, he came across a pair of eyes starting back at him. ââŚ.Yes?âÂ
âI donât see any reason not to be nice to you. Simple as that.â Abelâs voice actually had bits of sorrow. It didnât make sense why Hunter was acting the way he is. Abel was trying to help him.Â
âThere is no reason for more casualties from my mission other than my intended target.âÂ
âIf you approach everyone as an enemy, you limit your options in the future as no one will want to help you. You in fact run a greater risk of them acting against you.âÂ
Abel stated plainly, examining the situation through slightly more of a logical standpoint than an emotional, though his logical was born the combination of the two aspects.Â
âBelos, bad.â Though the statement was abbreviated, it was Abelâs way of incorporating the response, though once a connection was made, the abomatonâs expression became significantly sullener and depressed.Â
Still unable to think well enough with his feelings and was currently more reliant on logic. Associative property made a very poor connection. âBelos made me. I am bad.â Abelâs composition shifted so he was practically the same pile of abomination goo that he was when Lilith first found. It was the closest he could manage to be hugging his legs.Â
âI no want to hurt people. I want to help people.â He felt it was apparent that he was bound to hurt people only made him think that it was better if he had been exterminated. Why did she want to help him?
Lilith watched in horror as Abelâs form shifted. It was heartbreaking, really; since she could tell from the tone of his voice, it was obvious that he was upset. She knelt to his height and murmured, âNo, you are not bad.â
It was hard to put into words but she was going to do her best. Her heart sank a bit at the implication because that would mean Hunter was bad and, well, that couldnât be further from the truth. âBelos was bad. You are you. You can help. You can be a friend.âÂ
Hearing Lilithâs follow up words, a small smile would appear on his face. âI....can?âÂ
â......for interrupting.â He couldnât say the word âsorryâ at the moment as Belos wasnât the type to apologize for his actions.Â

With his ability to think for execution of his tasks, it was bound to emerge into facets of his capacity that didnât involve work.Â
A small smile graces his face as he nods his head. âIâŚâŚit. âŚâŚyou.â With his gradually increasing ability to think was as much of a capacity to feel. âI want to help.â There were many connotations that could be derived from such a simple statement, though he simply sought to help. It was in that desire, that he could be sent on numerous paths of his life, based on what was described to him as helping.Â
âBelos, friend?â Whether or not the question was expected would not keep the question from being presented. Without the knowledge about Belosâs true intentions as well as how people could be deceptive or duplicitous, Abel would tend to apply words rather freely to people.
Despite the almost immediate urge to snap, Lilithâs expression simply shifted. Her smile fell and she shook her head, responding, âNo. Belos is not a friend. Belos hurt people.âÂ
She sighed softly. âBelos was bad. Very bad.âÂ

Abel tended to learn more from actions from words, though this can tend to make incorrect associations as he is relatively aware of deceptive measures that people can use to achieve their own ends.Â
âFriends help learn?â Abel would try to connect all the words he had gotten. Words such as learn, help, and friends were not something Belos had any intention of bringing to his knowledge and with the intention of the draining spell, all remaining witches would mainly be isolated and trying to survive, even at the cost of any remaining relationships.Â
âLilith friend.â Saying the word friend enough times helped him to relax more to whatever fate may befall him. âFriends help friends?â He would present a supplemental question to ensure that he could understand the concept of friends.
As he spoke, Lilith could tell he was trying to make connections between the words. But she smiled and nodded. âYes. Lilith is a friend. And friends help friends.âÂ
She added slowly, âI want toâŚteach you. How to read. And speak. And be a friend.âÂ

âKnow enough to separate the two. Inside defeat lies growth. Victory comes with stagnation if frequent enough. Stagnation can lead to ruin, the same as death.â
âIf you want to stay injured, you will have to fight your way away from me. In your weakened state, your escape will be short-lived and as your body recovers, it will be able to travel further, but is still limited.âÂ
1) After rewatching Elsewhere and Elsewhen, I remembered that abominations are capable of expressing emotions. Between Belosâs idealization of magic as a means to an end in combination with Odaliaâs view of Abominations as tools without any capacity for feeling or thinking.Â
Abomatons have been stripped of the ability to think so they just follow the orders that are given to them.Â
Abelâs capacity for thinking also leads him to feel, though he doesnât know how to describe it.Â
2) Thinking about doing a drabble sequence that will act as a sequel to the finale. Cause I doubt that Odalia will get her comeuppance for all that she has done to her family.Â
If anyone is interested, feel free to like this and I will mention you in each section of the drabble. Thinking that it might contain 5 parts by the end.
(Going to have some dark themes, plus itâs a bit long, so will be under a read more.)
Abel had no bile left to shift the abomination goo that formed his body, so he was stuck in his normal appearance as he made his way to Blight Industry.Â
Luzâs words resonated with him as he made his way over to Odalia.Â
âYou say you want to help, but if you are assisting Odalia, then the only person you are helping is here.â The words repeated endlessly like a broken record through his head.
Thatâs not the case. Odalia said I was created to help the people of the Boiling Isles. Abel thought to himself as Odalia sat in her seat, with a smug grin on her face, expecting that Abelâs return meant good news for her and would accept nothing less than that.Â
âWelcome back Abel. I take it that the job is done. That human girl is out of the way.â Odalia spoke calmly, her grin quickly fading as Abel shook his head.Â
âSorry Odalia, ran out of bile so I couldnât get the job done. Just need some time to rest and recover then I will head back out.â Abel responded while watching Odalia pulling out a strange remote.Â
âYou better Abel, but just so you have some additional inspiration to make sure you get the job done this time.â Odalia quipped lightly as her right pointer finger along the edge of the remote. Her right pointer finger and her right thumb turning a dial with five numbers to the number three before pushing a green button underneath the dial.Â
A painful shock forced Abel to the ground as the remote controlled the special chip Odalia installed around the artificial magic staff that allowed Abel to use magic. The goo that formed his body was unaffected by pain, but the staff was effectively his core and that pain was impossible to ignore in any extent.
Watching callously at the display, Odalia got up out of her chair and walked around her desk toward Abel.Â
âLet me make myself clear Abel. Do I make myself clear?â Odalia stated scowling down and Abel.Â
âYes.â Abel stated through his pain, while the pain was wracking his body on the inside, he lacked the vocal cords to be affected by the pain.Â
âGood.â Odalia stated simply as she went back to her seat and sat down. âGet your pitiful face out of my office. Get your rest and get the job done this time. Be thankful I went easy on you with your punishment this time. Next time, I will not be so generous.â Odalia would turn off the electrical shock and return the remote to the drawer it was in.Â
Abel would pick himself up off the floor and nod his before leaving the office.Â
Abel kept still and nodded in acknowledgement of the request that was given by Lilith. Unable to really identify what Lilith was actually saying, Abel would just nod his head in agreement. If he was going to meet his end, he must not have been suitable for the task that Lilith had for him.Â
Otherwise, it would probably be something that would help him with the potential future tasks for him.Â
Once the empress started moving, Abel would start moving, his pace slightly faster than Lilithâs, only to get a few feet from her before slowing down to match her pace as much as possible.
Abel had a bit of time between his creation and Lilithâs arrival where he had paced back and forth, waiting for his directive to be given to him. Eventually, he decided that it wasnât working and decided to go to the spot where he was discovered at when Lilith arrived.Â
Lilith led him back up to the main part of the castle and paused near a window, looking outside. âI am Lilith. IâŚâ she paused. How could she word this if he didnât fully understand her? It was quite a conundrum. âI wantâŚto help you. Learn.âÂ

Abel would just ignore every remark made about stopping the use of his healing magic. âYou were never an enemy. An opponent, yes, but not an enemy.â Abel stated plainly as the magic circles broke down as he ran out of bile for the moment.Â
Though he lacked the main fallbacks of bile sacs around his heart, he still suffered from temporary powerlessness as he couldnât even perform magic to shift the composition of his own body for combat in his current state.Â
âBesides, if you are giving up this easily, besting the Golden Guard doesnât sound like an accomplishment to proclaim.â He stated plainly as he stands up.Â
âThereâs not much more I can do for your injuries at the moment. Healed you up as much as I can, but will take you somewhere to cover the rest.â The breakdown of the otherâs sentence made it possible that the words wouldnât reach them, but that wasnât going to stop the Abomaton from speaking them.Â
Afterwards, Abel would pick Hunter up and carry him to the closest place to get the rest of his injuries healed.Â
âYou arenât getting pity, you are getting patched up.â Abelâs words would be blunt and to the point, choosing to simply disregard any remark about being an enemy or a criminal as he was neither in his mind, or what would be the closest he has to a mind.Â
âDefeat doesnât equal death.â There was never any idea when an opponent could become an ally in the future, and as long as his directive didnât direct him toward eliminating the Golden Guard, he would ensure that they were taken care as much as possible.Â
