Since childhood, Zero Two had been alone due to her Klaxosaur blood, always being seen as a "monster". The way people treated her as a child made her lose faith in people which is especially seen when she was a child: being very defensive or aggressive when people tried to interact with her. Besides that, Zero Two acted like a wild animal or a feral child, eating with her hands, growling, making other vocal noises instead of speaking and chasing after mice that were near her. However, Zero Two was also shown to a fairly cheerful, curious, and happy girl, and it was during her time with Hiro that shaped much of her personality and quirks in the present, such as her sweet tooth, the way she referred to herself as ("Boku"), and the nickname she had for Hiro, "Darling". Because Hiro treated her as he would anyone else, whereas others didn't treat her as a human for one reason or another, Zero Two developed a deep admiration and liking towards him. Despite having her memories of the darling from her childhood erased, Zero Two retained some fragmented memories which was why she strived to become human no matter what

A hedonist who does not believe in anyone apart from himself. His personal principle is to always decide on his feelings, not about loss or gain, but he becomes an extreme realist during the implementation phase, taking the opportunity to want to profit as well. He thorughly prepares to do fun things, removing the anxiety factor, choose what he can do and calmy implements it. The troublesome type. On top of not being able to predict what they will do, when they take action, they come at you with a plan with no gaps. At one glance, he looks mad, but he's actually not a lunatic. If he was mad he would not be able to take such systemic actions. Rather, he may enjoy being concius that he is mad.

Hiro was born and raised in the Garden with Naomi, Ichigo and Goro, and he later become Naomi's FRANXX partner. He gave himself the name Hiro and later, 015 the name Ichigo. Other children then began asking for names, and started naming each other. Hiro later became a special research subject at the age of 9, and went through experiments by himself in the Lab, receiving candy as a reward. He sees Zero Two being dragged for testing and asks an adult who she is, but they told him to go back to his room. He then tries to sneak out again but is stopped by an adult. He then sees Zero Two and an adult fighting with her book and climbs up a tree to see through her room window. She then gets her book back and the woman walks away.
