also yea they would enjoy being physically affectionate, there's no shame to it because in the end they're both just stupid teenagers and at that age it's normal to do cheesy lovey dovey things when you're in love

one of them will always be absentmindedly touching the other, regulus fiddling with x's labcoat, x fixing up regulus' scarf. other laplace members only tolerate it as long as they don't get too distracted and focus on their tasks, they can do whatever

well i already made a headcanon previously that x crafted a promise ring specifically for regulus, so i think x will craft a better ring for the proposal with cooler features

x is the one to propose first, solely because he wants to show off his inventions to her at the proposal and impress her. if it were up to regulus she'll probably get the two of them into doing something crazy outside before the ring, and x is too physically weak to handle that

he’d spend like weeks beforehand making inventions, dragging the other arcanists into his plans whether they liked it or not. vertin would be tasked with leading regulus to the location under some excuse, while APPLe fine-tuned the machine that played soft, romantic music in the background. sotheby would be in charge of the bouquet, and medicine pocket would be there purely for moral support

well for sure they wouldn't like any of those candle lit dinners, it's too boring for them. i feel like they'll go on any adventure and call it a date. wrecking up the lab? a date, skydiving with x's newest invention? also a date

x prefers dates at home, like getting regulus to help with his projects both private and for lorentz. because he's a little lab rat, doesn't like going outside (because he's physically quite weak from past malnourishment and also just doesn't exercise in general)

meanwhile regulus is the polar opposite, wants to go and explore the world. she's lived her whole life on the run around london, so staying still for too long bores her. also is the one to force x to go outside and get some vitamin d, he can't stay cooped up in the lab forever!!

x tried sabotaging dates outside a few times before but gave up eventually, now he just lets regulus drag him to whatever date she's planning for them

regulus is already canonically enthusiastic to try out x's inventions so it would make sense. other members of laplace finds his inventions stupid and a waste of resources like... a tomato gun? a jet wheelchair? meanwhile regulus is like "hell yeah love your inventions mate!!"

okay now that you mention it, here's what i think their love languages is:

regulus' love language is definitely physical touch, like this mf is always hugging someone in official art.. i feel like with x especially she likes hugging his arm, holding his hand, or even simply leaning against him while he works. she also likes words of affirmation just because when x calls her "my captain" or when he tells her "good job" after another successful experiment it gives her butterflies.

x's love language... his va (hyoie o'grady) actually had answered something about that on reddit! his love language is quality time and acts of service. he said that x would value someone being around him a lot since he probably didn't have many constant figures growing up, and also he likes acts of service because he needs someone to help him set up his machines (which is what regulus already does canonically, funnily enough...)

I don’t see x playing an instrument but ngl I think theremin would be interesting because it’s unique in the way that you don’t physically touch it to play it? and he’s shown to have some sort of telekinetic ability of sorts so I think that’s fitting. that or he invents some weird convoluted invention that plays music horrendously and it explodes five minutes after he gets the patent

well i personally see regulus as the rockstar girlfriend and x is the technician handling things backstage, it would be more realistic me thinks. but i also like the idea of x playing a theremin, i think x would be interested in the physics and circuitry behind it. also in true x fashion, he would wanna tweak/optimize it for better sound. that boy never goes a day without experimenting
