Time for a roundup of all of the main planets! this is only a list of planets with confirmed sapient species as of the Terran year 2175, so there are many more planets and moons with known life (which I may explore in the future). The Sophonts or main sapient species living on each of the planets are as follows:
Earth - Humans
Chpaarr - Kapiir and Paarr
Hydes - Tailouans
Gar-Tuzg - Ut-rign
Lou'bluo - A'ulb
Here is a complete to-scale comparison of the planets (with their local names / endonyms and their Human-given names / exonyms :
As you can see, the majority of them are smaller or equal to earth's size, which isn't the case for real exoplanet distribution (planets outside our solar system are on average bigger than earth). However, a more realistic distribution would be noticeable if you were to list all planets with life rather than just sophont-bearing ones.
Also I'll be sticking to making earth and humans a rather 'average' sophont and planet duo, with an average size (for both) and average temperature, atmosphere, gravity, and axial tilt for earth.
Further information about each individual planet and links to their introductory posts below the cut:
Earth:
The homeplanet of humanity, warmed by 3.8 degrees celsius and with 23 meters higher sea level since Human's industrial age, Earth is a more tropical and somewhat flooded landscape, but life has endured and ever since 2109 most of climate change has been ceased, it now remains the population and economic capital of the solar system. With a total population of roughly 10 billion and the main economic superpowers now being Brazil, India, and Oceania ever since the third world war in 2072 devastated the northern hemisphere with a nuclear winter and massive crop failure until the late 2080's.
Travel from and to earth has been optimized via three skyhooks, giant cables with counterweights at one end and the ability to hoist high-flying reusable spaceplanes into higher orbits with their spinning motion. Larger spacecraft regularly travel back and forth from the moon with cargo and visitors and the moon's two space elevators being constantly used to travel further out.
Hydes:
Hydes is the homeplanet of the Tailouans, A flighted species of Sophont that had one of the fastest development of aircraft, and hence, spacecraft, allowing them to be the first to contact other sophonts, specifically the Kapiir.
The planet exhibits more extreme weather and seasons due to its somewhat extreme axial tilt (48.7° compared to earth's 23.5°) and notable amount of oceanic coverage. Life on Hydes is carbon-based and uses water as it's polar solvent (just like on Earth, Chpaarr, and Lou'bluo) and uses turquoise - bluish purple plant life to take advantage of its star Epsilon Eridani (aka Labyuks) which is a K-type, and hence produces far more red and infrared light that is absorbed by the plants.
Chpaarr:
Chpaarr is the homeplanet of the Paarr and Kapiir, a pair of sophonts which coexist on the somewhat small planet, and together complete two halves of their society, with the Paarr being semi-aquatic and using biotechnology (aka living technology) and the Kapiir living on the edges of their planet's deserts and using more traditional technology like Humans. Chpaarr is currently in an era where its core will soon begin to cool, leading to the magnetosphere shrinking and hence the surface being bombarded with far more cosmic rays than is livable, the Kapiir and Paarr are currently constructing an artificial magnetosphere generator at their L1 point, similar to the one used for terraforming mars.
Chpaar is largely a desert planet with some large regions of livable land near multiple large lakes in the southern hemisphere and around the northern pole, this combined with the relatively mild seasons from a lesser axial tilt (13.4° compared to earth's 23.5°) makes it have a rather less chaotic weather system and more consistent biomes and temperatures. Life on Chpaarr is carbon-based and uses water as it's polar solvent (just like on Earth, Hydes, and Lou'bluo). It receives more blue, purple, and ultraviolet light from its somewhat volatile star F-type Procyon A (aka Rrp) which results in plants that absorb those wavelengths and reflect more red and pink wavelengths, hence their red colouration.
Gar-tuzg:
Gar-tuzg is the homeplanet of the Ut-rign, the only sophont species to not be made of water-using biochemistry, the planet is whats known as a "super-earth" meaning its mass, gravity, and size exceed those of earth, in Gar-tuzg's case it has 1.34 x earths surface gravity and is roughly 1.5 x bigger in diameter. This combined with the somewhat thinner atmosphere than Earth's resulted in Ut-rign being the latest species to get to space, as aircraft was notably difficult to develop. However, thanks to the atmosphere's previously mentioned qualities and some somewhat tall mountain ridges along the equator the Ut-rign managed to develop mass drivers (tubes hundreds of kilometers long that use electromagnetic pulses to continuously speed up a payload until it is launched out an upwards-curving end.) that act as the backbone of their space industry and exploration.
The map above only shows Gar-tuzg as it appears in two points of its orbit, as its 90° axial tilt makes the ice caps' coverage vary wildly, beneath is a diagram of Gar-tuzg as it appears throughout its orbit:
Gar-tuzg is the coldest planet with sophonts due to its weak M-type star, Gliese 876 (aka Tur-zga) which provides less light and heat than any other sophont homeplanet's stars. This has lead to photosynthesis on Gar-tuzg using very dark purple - black colours for maximizing their absorption of the relatively dim light. As mentioned previously, life on Gar-tuzg doesn't use water as its polar solvent, but instead utilizes Ammonia, which freezes at -77° Celsius and boils from its liquid state at -39° Celsius (in Gar-tuzg's air pressure). This means the entirety of the planet smells like urine and creatures that use blood-like oxygen carriers move and operate incredibly slowly, however evolution on Gar-tuzg has bypassed this by directly flowing electric currents into a natural 'battery' rather than transport energy vie chemical means.
Lou'bluo:
Lou'bluo is the homeplanet of the A'ulb and the only gas dwarf sophont homeplanet, It is what's known as a Mini-Neptune or Warm Neptune, with only a few others of its kind possessing life. The A'ulb are the most technologically advanced of the sophonts, with them attributing it to their quick development of aircraft and spacecraft thanks to the arial, floating nature of Lou'bluo's ecosystems and therefore, the A'ulb's cities.
(A map of the planet would be pointless as nothing lives on the surface and the thick atmosphere constantly moves and shifts.)
Life on Lou'bluo is quite hardy, as lifeforms must absorb water vapor from the atmosphere and float using thin balloon-like sacks of helium (in some cases). The 'plants' of Lou'bluo use yellow-green pigments, as they absorb the abundant red and infrared light from the K-type Star, Groombridge 1618 (aka L'iug) but reflect some of the yellow and green light to protect from the harsher rays in the upper atmosphere.
The A'ulb are the most technologically advanced sophont species known to humans, with their unmatched medical tech, spacefaring capabilities, energy access via multiple dyson swarm rings, and a vocal / physical mix language. The A'ulb are one if the most impressive sophont species, however, the prefer to avoid meddling in the other sophont's business, so they mostly observe via robotic probes and occasional "check up" manned visits. They also are notable for their endurance and long-term flight capabilities, with aircraft being largely unnecessary due to the surprisingly small amount of effort necessary from them to glide over kilometers of distance using bursts of air from a backwards-facing exhaling orifice.
Just wondering what's your favorite planet or creature that you have created or have in mind, would love to hear about them!
Hi!
Sorry for taking so long to answer, but I wanted to have an art piece to show you and I wanted to finish the post about my favorite planet. So i'd say my favorite planet is Lou'bluo, Mostly because it's actually the one that kickstarted my world-building project and was the first planet I ever 'designed', hence it needed the most elaborate rework.
As for my favorite creature, I first have to mention that all the 'creatures' I've posted about so far are sophonts, so they have equal to human intelligence and tech (for the most part) so my favorite creature, or animal/lower intelligence lifeform, is this lil' goober:
It's a wildlife apex predator / opportunistic scavenger of the plains ecosystem on Chpaarr, the homeplanet of the Paarr and Kapiir. And the little guy on his back is a symbiotic parter that acts as a scout for finding prey due to their better vision, with it receiving a share of the kill as payment.
PS. Here are some early drawings of Lou'bluo under the cut, from back when It still had the name Hades II and was more Jupiter - like in appearance.
Welcome to Lou'bluo, one of the only gas planets to have a thriving multicellular ecosystem. It is also notable for Its primary sophonts, the A'ulb, who have attained one of the highest technological levels of any sophont, with a partial dyson swarm around their star and genetically modified vaccum-living farm creatures. The planet itself if a 'warm neptune' with a diameter 3.5 times earth's and a rotation period (day) of only 11 hours.

The Ut-rign are the most recent sophont species to interacted by the rest, with their reasonably equal to human space and energy technology, a visual - vocal mix language (communication sign and sound) and their underground lifestyle set them apart from most other sophonts. The Ut-rign are a hardy species, with high tolerance towards high carbon dioxide levels, the ability to survive quite low temperatures and high levels of pressure. They also notably have two heads, meaning they can see, sense with, and use the appendages of both ends equally, however their singular brain is located in the middle of the body so they remain as a singular individual.
Gar-Tuzg, a large, super earth not so far from sol, Is known for its unique 90° axial tilt that causes wild seasons, and the hardiest sophonts of all, the Ut-rign. The surface of the large planet is bombarded with intense starlight and larger amount of radiation than earth receives due to a weaker atmosphere, and the distance from it's star causes the pole to freeze over when they face away from the star or remain parallel to it.
The planet’s 90° axial tilt causes it to have a quarter of the half split into perpetual night and perpetual day.
The Kapiir are the second sophont species to be discovered by humanity, with their reasonably equal to human space and energy technology, an olfactory language (communication through smells) and the sheer natural hardiness of them as an organism has allowed the Kapiir to become a formidable ally to the Páarr, with whom they share a planet.
The Tailouans are a semi-arboreal sophont from the planet Hydes, They have achieved extremely high levels of interplanetary technology and many interstellar flights. They originally evolved as a flighted arboreal species, with their transition to semi-arboreal habitats leading to them now being restricted to minor gliding and short 90 - 200 meter flights depending on the terrain. Their dual vocal cords allow them to act as highly efficient xenolinguists, with them being capable of reproducing all human sounds and a majority of Páarr, kapiir, and A'ulb Sounds.
(The image is of a Tailouan father with his son, a later post will explain their sexual dimorphism)
(I'm using air quotes for plants bc they aren't from earth so technically their completely unrelated to actual plants.)
Plant equivalents on the planet Chpaarr take many forms, but a few things remain nearly universal across all clades:
Their silica based pseudo-skeleton
The use of a red-pink pigment for photosynthesis
The leaf-like plates covering the majority of their surface areas
These traits have allowed these sessile photosynthesizers on Chpaarr to fill an insane variety of niches and biomes, with the hard plates they are covered with leading to all herbivores on Chpaarr either using incredibly acidic saliva to dissolve their food or harsh scraping radula-like mouthparts to crush their food into a fine paste.

The Páarr are a semi-aquatic sophont from the planet Chpaarr, They have achieved high levels of interplanetary technology and a couple interstellar flights. They originally evolved in shallow water areas around swamplands and beaches, leading to them being capable of remaining on land as long as their gills are moist. Their technological development further allowed the to travel inland though drysuits and terrestrial vehicles.
Ah, Mars, a small, cold planet terraformed by humanity, it serves as a commercial hub and gateway to the outer solar system, while also bearing the burden of becoming humanity's second home. With a population of roughly 5.1 Billion Humans, it is truly deserving of its title: Earth's Red Brother.
you can expect to see a post about how phobos and deimos (mars's moons) are doing soon.
This group is searching for one of their own that seems to have gotten a little lost in these fields of wind plants. While they plan out a safe way to go about their search, big wind plants spin their leafs with force periodically, dispersing their spores into the air, which the combined gust of many spinning plants pushes on to new places.
The base of their snail-like "foot" is very flexible and prehensile, kinda like a big prehensile lip or a tentacle, together with the stickyness, they can form a little cup shape that's strong enough to hold tools and interact the world with
Chpaarr, a small, arid planet in the perseus arm of the Milky Way Is known for its wide array of unique alien life and the only known sophont to solely use biotech, the paarr. The surface of the relatively small planet is bombarded with intense starlight and larger amount of uv radiation than earth receives.
The planet’s relatively low axial tilt causes a near total lack of seasons and fairly consistent temperatures across the planet.

A (late) general post of Hades II’s plants! They primarily take advantage of the Hades system’s star, Hades, being a K type, and therefore producing more ultraviolet light, causing blue to be an optimal colour for photosynthesis with teal shades being more common in tropical regions and more purple colours dominating the colder tundra regions. The three primary clades of plants are known as Tube-plants, Fan-plants, and Spread-plants.
Clade Info below the cut!
Tube-plants
Tube-plants are the smallest and least diverse of the three clades, with their generally shorter plant bodies causing the to be terrible at dealing with competition for sunlight, therefore only being abundant in more open places. Most of them tend to close up during the night as to minimise surface area to avoid heat loss.Â
Fan-plants
Fan-plants are a considerably larger and more diverse clade than the Tube-plants, taking full advantage of their height to dominate many landscapes, they vary in size greatly with the smallest filling the niche of tall grasses while the largest tend to grow to heights rivalling even Terran Redwoods. This incredible feat of diversity has been partially caused by their effective pollination system, which involves each individual raising up a tall stalk with both pairs of gonads at the end which proceeds to sway in the wind. Bumping into its neighbour’s stalks and therefore pollinating both plants at once.Â
Spread-Plants
Spread-Plants are the most earth-like plants on Hades II, primarily thanks to their individual leaves and somewhat branch-like protrusions that mostly serve the same purpose as normal branches. The Spread-plants are also the most common and widespread clade of plants on Hades II, primarily due to their hardy exteriors and short growing times.
Hydes, a planet in the norma arm of the Milky Way Is known for not just housing life, but an intelligent species known as the Tailouans (Or Swallow-hawks in Martian English) whose technology is accepted as on par if not above that of humanities and were the first sophonts humans encountered.
The planet’s high axial tilt causes extreme variation of temperature at the poles, causing the majority of life to reside closer to the equator. The plants of hades two range in colour from teals to bluish - purple, taking advantage of the higher UV rays produces by its star, Labyuks.
A follow-up post about Hydes's plants is coming soon.
