   “Oh, my god– are you okay?” Riley once broke her arm in result of a flawed routine in cheer practice. It wasn’t fun cheering on the sidelines with a full on cast, listening to her mother scold her about if she had just ate more greens and not sneak off on second hour to get taco bell she wouldn’t have been so unstable. Pffft. Right. “Do you need anything? Ice cream usually makes me feel better… seriously, they should salt the sidewalks. Ice can be dangerous.” 

“Yeah! I’ve had plenty of broken bones before. ‘S just so silly an’ it makes life a lil’ harder which is not fun.” Billy giggled. “I mean ice cream sounds great. I could trip on air so ‘m not sure the salt would matter much.”

“Ho–How did you mangage to do that Billy?”

“Well you know how clumsy I am. My foot went out from under me an’ I tried to catch myself.”

D E S P I T E knowing there was someone else in the room, hearing their voice still made cassie jump in surprise since she hadn’t been paying attention.  she nodded to herself, steadying her grip on the chair and then turning around.  “i’m totally careful.  for someone super clumsy, i’m careful.”  she explained, jumping off of the chair and balancing back on her feet as she looked at the woman in the kitchen.  

Billy was about to say more when she suddenly cocked her head. “Cassie?” She asked in surprise, feeling like she recognized her cousin despite only having seen her in pictures for a long time. 

“Oh golly, Charlotte, Susie, Rose, Eve, Nora, and Afrodita.”

Susie was dressed in a cami and a pajama bottoms. It was clear that she’d been sleeping when she heard the knock on her door. Rubbing her eyes, she opened it to see a very familiar face. Confusion slowly bubbled to the surface. “Uh, Abi– Billy? Is everything, alright? You look kind of– not happy?”

Billy instinctively wrapped her arms around herself, looking down at her shoes. “So I had to hear from the internet that you had a crush on me.” She frowned. “Which I guess is okay, ’s your choice. But you told Eve that you wouldn’t date me ‘cause I have kids.” She sighed. “An’ you keep kissin’ me! It feels like you’re usin’ me.”

“What?” Delta asked, shocked at the denial that came from the other – genuine denial it seemed. “But you’re totally gorgeous! You should come through my closet some time! I have some way cute outfits that will show you how sexy you are.” A kid naming the dog seemed like solid reasoning. “Ducky’s cute.” She decided. “How old’s your daughter?” Delta waited for the other to come back out, smiling when she did and checking her out again. “Yepp – way sexy. And you’re totally blushing. It’s cute. I’m so taking an instagram photo of you later. I’ll post it and you’ll see just how totally gorgeous people think you are. Ready to find Ducky?”

Billy couldn’t help but blink a few times, looking at the girl in confusion. She seemed genuine but she was being so complimentary. None of it felt true for Billy anyways. “You’re kind.” She settled with because she was a polite person. “She’s eight.” That was still a crazy thing to realize. “Um golly, okay.” She didn’t know how she felt about a picture and sexy was not something she got very often. “Let’s go see where she ran off too.” 

Billy chewed her lip, knocking on Susie’s door. She had wanted to talk to her about a few things she’d heard and been told. It was a little upsetting that Susie wasn’t being honest with her or giving her a clear idea of what was going on.

”Your dog did…” It was more of a statement than a clarification. “ And you forgot that you weren’t wearing the dress you were gonna wear?” That was cute, the girl was cute, and while it sounded like something a dog would do, it was the irony of the situation that had Felicity smiling. “ Well I can’t catch your dog for you, but I can offer you something to pull over yourself just in cause this meet-cute gets any more cliche and you end up  locked out of your rule practically naked.” She chuckled.

Billy offered a sheepish look, knowing most people didn’t just forget their clothes. She was a bit spacey though about things. “Oh golly, I don’t think ’s locked? That’s very kind of you though.” She smiled shyly. “’M Billy.”

With a heavy sigh, Felicity lugged her heaviest suitcase behind her as she tried to find her room. It was hard to believe she actually signed up for this, but since she has resigned to try new things, Felicity was doing her best to dive in head first and enjoy it. How hard would it be to be around a bunch of other queer women? Well, that’s what she hoped, but since arrive she had yet to see anyone around. Pushing the worry back, she cursed at herself for bringing too many things before hearing a noise that made her look up in time to see a practically naked woman running down the hall. Of course Felicity froze. The bare flesh came as a shock, bu t after a moment she looked away respectfully. “ God, um…I’m sorry.” She flushed a bit. “ I just wasn’t expecting this place to be so…um, free spirited…” Free spirited? was that really the best she could come up with.

“Oh, no!” Billy squeaked turning as red as one human could get. This was just getting worse and worse. “‘M sorry, my dog ran off with my dress an’ I didn’t realize I was undressed.” She sputtered. 

Julia smiled as she turned back to look at the other, her gaze falling to the dog for a moment. “Sounds like your little friend is being a bit of a trouble maker. No need to apologise, you have nothing to say sorry for.” She chuckled lightly at the blush on the other’s face. “You’re very red, like a cute little tomato.”

Billy smiled a little weakly, obviously embarrassed. “She usually well trained but she has a lot of personality.” She admitted. “’M not very cute all bright red like this.” She eyed Ducky, motioning for her to come back with the dress. 

“I’d hopefully train them to be able to work with me. It’d be nice to have them around all the time. Okay–well cats are fine, they’re fluffy monsters but at least they don’t hate you instantly.”

“I think you could do it an’ if you need any help ‘m pretty good with animals. A lot of people weren’t ever taught a lot of animal tells that can be really important. Cats are great pets if you understand them. Sometimes people forget they’re not dogs.”

“Did you not hear me?” she asked her brow furrowing. “You are pretty–and of course you can’t easily name the good about yourself, most people can’t but that doesn’t mean there ain’ good shit. You gotta be confident that you can land the girl you like–be confident that you’re hot shit. How do you think I landed my girlfriend?” she asked with a chuckle now. “I do quite like romance and mystery…”

Billy chewed on her lip, a little scared of trying to argue with Nora. “’M not sure I know how to be confident. I have no doubt you got your girlfriend through it though. That an’ just bein’ pretty awesome.” She admitted. “Well you will find those in my books!”
