alicent you unintentionally fostered the environment in which your son directly yearns for your unspoken affection in a manner that is beyond appropriate behavior. alicent your son longs for the recognition and affirmation that you once yearned for from your own father and dead mother. alicent to manipulate him is to peel back his skin and reveal all of his wounds that also match yours. alicent the apple is rotten right to the core. my queen dowager in christ you made the sandwich without even knowing it

i think people really downplay/ignore the role that viserys played in shaping aemond's oedipal complex because so much of it is tied up not just in a warped desire for his mother's affection, but also in wanting to replace and usurp his father, who failed both him and alicent at every turn. the very first time we see aemond taking on a parentified role in his relationship with alicent during the driftmark confrontation is DIRECTLY a result of viserys's actions, of the way he blatantly doesn't care that aemond has been maimed or that his wife is having a public mental breakdown, of the way he makes it clear to his own younger children that he will always ALWAYS choose rhaenyra over them, that rhaenyra's feelings and status are more important than their wellbeing (yet another reason alicent's enduring affection for rhaenyra rankles aemond so much)

im so sick of unnecessary dinner scenes in movies 😡 every fucking movie they just want to titillate you with some food because they think you’re a dumb animal who just wants to see mashed potatoes bouncing. if its an IMPORTANT dinner scene where they explain lore then whatever i understand. but they shove useless meals into every movie these days and its disgusting
