The day is incomplete The thoughts of total defeat I don't know what is happening to me Or if I'll die, 'cause I just never sleep You awoke into my night You could see the madness in my eyes
My conscience begs for time 'Cause you can't fight the clock ticking inside I'm just a bigger baby me Acting smart, oh, what irony I've lost control, please save me from myself I've lost control, please save me from myselfÂ
Calm me down with your caress I'll get off while I watch you undress Maybe the sex will help me to forget A precious, transient, schizophrenic bliss
Oh, my god, you're beautiful Why do you stay with this neurotic fool?
I've lost control, please save me from myself I've lost control, please save me from myself
Backdated: Christmas Self Para Music Muse: Bellevue Carol - Bruce Broughton Location: St. Paulâs Cathedral, London - 25th December 1955. TW: Religious speak, churches, preaching Notes: you do not have to read this if you donât want too, itâs more for me and for my muse <3Â
It was a tradition he had come to love in the past, the gathering of families and friends, lost souls, the weary and the lonely congregating together in a place designed for sanctuary and salvation. He blended in well, havenât had attended a service in a long time, but something about this year- how close everything had gotten, how thin he was grasping onto the life he had drove him out of his house and to itâs snow covered steps.Â
an open starter for anyone interested, set Christmas Eve
The snow floated down to the ground like petals in a breeze, gentle and oh-so silent. It never ceased to amaze Lucrecia at just how quiet the world could be when the clouds settled low over a town or city and silently poured out their freezing tears. It was a peace she could so rarely find, and as the sun had long since set, the streets were largely deserted. It was just Lucrecia, the snow, and the twinkling lights in windows magic and mundane.
It was almost enough to make her wish there was someone to share it with, but not even that melancholy thought was able to destroy the settled weight in her chest her surroundings introduced. There was another figure just ahead. They were bathed in the light of a streetlamp and it seemed to give them a slight halo through the snow. Lucrecia smiled, before calling out, âA very Merry Christmas Eve to you! Can I help you with anything?â
It would be Christmas tomorrow, but not that he felt like it was. Around him snow fell, bells rang, sounds of families inside homes and the twinkling lights in the windows- the air was crisp with expectation, of joy, merriment, wonder- overtaking the feelings of despondency, of worry and general unease of others. It seemed like a general rule of Christmas was, donât be miserable. Or at least donât let others see you miserable. He hadnât even wanted to go home, there were no decorations, no family, just a house full of animals who seemed to almost remove themselves from his presence- as if they too could sense what was inside him.Â
So he stood underneath the lamplight, eyes cast upwards as if looking for a sign. Anything really. Just something to make him think heâd be alright. He didnât even care that flakes of snow had landed and matted in his hair or that their feathery, ghost like touch melted on his eye lids and cheeks. And like a nightingale through the flurry, a voice carried out and made him turn his head to face it. Lucrecia Black. Of all people. He surveyed her for a moment before inclining his head with a small nod. âMerry Christmas Eve to you too.â he greeted, fixing a kind smile as approached. âIâm okay, thank you for offering though.â this was someone he couldnât bring into his troubles, mainly because he didnât want her to consider him a charity case. And also because he couldnât help but still respect every woman he came across, especially the pureblood ones. âWhat brings you out here alone?â

THE MUSKETEERS:Â 40/â
âI am a different person to different people. Annoying to one. Talented to another. Quiet to a few. Unknown to a lot. But who am I, to me?â
â dream-jackson (via claudemonet-art)
besmagdyâ:
Bes frequented many of the shops between Diagon, Knockturn, and Carkritt. Noltie had him running errands often enough, collecting supplies, delivering them. He didnât mind it, it got him out of the shop though he never really complained about being there either. He was meant to be both delivering some new plants to the apothecaryâs shop, and picking up a salve to soothe the rash heâd gotten on his palm from improperly handling his latest assignment. It was his own fault. Heâd been in a rush, distracted, and heâd not thought to wear gloves. It served him right, even if it was infuriating now.Â
The shop was a little busy, but not overly so. He exhaled through his nose, gently setting down the potted plant near the back counter, where he usually did, before he slipped into line behind Winter. It seemed he wasnât the only impatient one. âDonât we all?â He smirked, eyes sweeping over his frame. âYou look like shit, mate. The only place you should be going is home to sleep off whateverâs got you like this.â He commented.
He bristled at the comment. Surely that would be a valid reason for him being here? Didnât most sick people go to apothecaries? He turned slightly in his position, to look at the other wizard and fought off the idea to roll his eyes. Whatever spark, whatever kindness he normally had was extinguished and he hadnât felt like this for near on a year. No one knew just how cruel he could really get. But something indeed seemed to be holding up the apothecary more than normal and whatever it was, Winter was in no mood to be polite about it.Â
âReally? I thought I looked all rosy and pretty today. Damn.â he muttered, running a hand through his slightly unkempt hair. He stared down at the man with dark, soulless eyes. âIf I could sleep, trust me, Iâd be in my bed but low and behold itâs not coming to me so here I am, getting to enjoy a conversation I had no intention of ever starting.âÂ
He was looking more gaunt than usual, not that he could blame himself. He was still riding the utter failure of his latest catch up with Isabella and the creeping paranoia of more people coming out of the woodwork who knew more about him than he wanted. And the visit from Auror Tolliver had only managed to make him jumpy. He hadnât slept for days, so much even his work was suffering.Â
So it was no wonder he found himself in the apothecary, awaiting on his prescription for heavy sleep potions and anxiety relief. He felt as if everyone was staring at him, like people knew. The moments he had managed to close his eyes only lasted a few minutes before the nightmares began once more and the memories flooded back.Â
âCan you please put a rush on this? I have somewhere I need to be, sorry.â the more time he spent here, the more he felt the weight of stares.Â
isamacmillanâ:
Isa smiled, though there was a hint of playful pity in it at his bruised ego, poor Winter, she hadnât meant to laugh at him, it was just the circumstances. His grin reassured her that he was fine, even with the bruised ego, but she couldnât help but wonder if heâd be so embarrassed had it been another woman, or a man, and not her that heâd nearly fallen in front of. It didnât matter, of course, as she wasnât another woman, but she couldnât help thinking on it anyhow.Â
She turned her focus back to the dogs, appreciating their welcome as she brushed through their fur and pecked their heads, not minding the risk of dog hair clinging to her clothes. âIâve not had the pleasure,â She agreed, though it seemed odd now that she hadnât. She felt like she knew all of Winterâs animals, but then, that could have everything to do with the fact that they spoke nonstop. âOddball is a perfect name,â She giggled, giving her extra pets as she was introduced. She continued with Thea, amused by the explanations of their names, until he got to Dahlia. She paused, hand still on the dogâs back as she looked up at him.Â
âYou named your dog after Dahlia Prewett?â She asked, stunned. There was clearly a story here, and she wanted to know it. She frowned, gently petting the dog, before insisting on it. âWhy would you name your dog after Dahlia?â She asked, not entirely sure sheâd like the answer he gave her. What if they had a past? What if sheâd have to compete with the likes of Dahlia? The Prewett woman was beyond talented and gorgeous, Merlin help her. Jealousy already tickled her nose, making it scrunch as she waited for the explanation. She prayed it was a good one.Â
If there ever was a moment a face palm was needed, it was now. At the time, it was funny and a personal joke, after all he hadnât ever thought heâd get the chance to meet someone who perhaps wouldnât see the reasoning behind it. And even he could notice the slight change in tone and atmosphere around them. He could almost imagine someone like Aberforth or Reuben shaking their heads and wincing at his momentous lack of judgement and thought.Â
âSheâs a friend. Well, used to be close friend- you know back in school and we still talk now- we had a deal and I suppose I never break deals and it just became a thing.â he knew none of that would probably help the situation, but how could he tell her the full truth without showing that he wasnât always a complete gentleman? In a sense, it was degrading, even Dahlia didnât find it so. Because in truth it was correct.Â
He felt like he was just digging and digging and he almost wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole. âIt was just a joke, a personal thing but it doesnât mean anything other than an innocent joke and deal. Because Dahlia has red hair and that Dahlia has red fur and that sheâs- well, uh, because Dahlia is a bitch. And spoiled. The woman and the dog and I know thatâs not a nice term, even if the official term for a female dog is bitch and just- Iâm just going to stop saying bitch.âÂ
âIâm sorry?â god, even that was pathetic and lame.Â

BIO.
How Winter Grew Up?
Winter Macnair wasnât anyone special. The Macnairâs were tolerated within social circles but mostly out of respect of ancestors. Their blood had been tainted for three decades due to an unfortunate marriage to a halfblood. But that didnât stop the Macnairâs from riding the coattails of the sacred 28. Winter was a quiet child, reserved and surveyed the world with an innocence not entirely supported by his parents. Being an only child, he found solace with animals and constantly sneaked wild and stray animals into his room. There was something sweet and pure about having such a precious life in his hands and the companionship sated his need for comfort. His attitude changed though when his time for Hogwarts came around. His parents ordered him to make friends, ensure connections, to better himself and in return, them. Sorted into Slytherin, it opened his mind to the darkness and bitterness which revolved in it. The class system and elitism the house oozed sunk into his skin and the innocence which had made him in his own sense, pure, faded. Desiring to fit in he found himself wrapped up in schemes and plans which would make even his parents shudder.
Whatâs Happened Since?
Since leaving school, for a few years after he kept the remaining connections and vowed to return his family name back into honor. If that meant bowing down to pureblood females and smarming up to pureblood men then so be it. He was involved in a few plans which were violent, degrading and manipulating. It was only after a certain incident, which made him snap out of the charm he had been under. The horror of what heâd done, the sickness made him revile the man he had been turning into and he fled the close knit circle. He shut himself off from them and focused instead on the one thing which had been his safety blanket. Animals. He trained to become a vet, for the muggle and wizarding world and lived his life as a muggle. With saving animals, each one felt like a redemption of sorts for his actions and his compassion and care returned thrice fold. He works officially for a muggle vets, but also freelances in the wizarding world for family pets and creatures.
How Is Winter Connected to Tom Riddle?
Winter tagged along with Tom in school. He was a halfblood with an aim for greatness and a motivation to succeed. Something Winter had been trying to emulate for himself to make his parents proud. He felt wanted and respected being a part of the clique. Even if it meant doing things he at the time, had no real desire to commit. Winter was in deep with Tom and as the years progressed in school, his dedication to him coiled around him like vines, tightening and cutting with every deed. Until that one event, which shook him to the core, which made him finally put a stop to the dangerous path he was on. It went too far, he never thought it would end up the way it did. When Tom disappeared, so did Winter and he mentioned nothing to anyone about what had gone down. But it follows him even until this day. Plaguing his dreams and thoughts. And then Tom came back and Winter began to run once more. He was being better. He couldnât go down that path again. The taste of evil however, would always remain in his mouth.
What Is Their Motivation?
Winter wants to be better. To do better. And to live the quiet life he always truly wanted. His parents arenât in the picture, he cut them out long ago. Heâs painted himself a picture of being the kind Vet with a compassionate heart and all he wants is to save animals and settle down. Tom threatens that and like an addict, Winter knows the strength of the drug Tom releases in his personality. His desire for better is motivating him in making sure Tom stays far away. Even if that means a more permanent way.
WINTER MACNAIR IS PLAYED BY ROSE.
isamacmillanâ:
Isabella absolutely adored the winter holidays. She loved the numerous parties and events to attend and host, the decorations that dotted villages, homes, and shops, the food, and of course the expectation of gift giving. She loved to shop, and she wasnât the least bit ashamed to admit it. After all, giving gifts was among her very most favorite things to do. She loved taking the time to personally select items, find the perfect wrapping paper and accessories, and hand make cards for the occasion. This year was a little different, however, as her thoughts more often wandered to a different Winter.Â
Sheâd been writing back and forth to him nearly four times per week. Each letter seemed to grow longer and longer, and when they had their outings, she found herself smiling so much her cheeks ached. It was easy to be friends with Winter, and easier still to talk to him. This year was also different when it came to where she frequented. Sheâd been in muggle London far more than she ever had before. It was exciting to see muggle Christmas traditions in full bloom. Their stores were decorated too, lights and tinsel hung, hand cut paper crafts, and of course numerous Christmas trees. It delighted her to think of all the care that mustâve gone into each and every decoration. After all, muggles had no assistance in the form of magic. They must do all the steps by hand. She hadnât told anyone yet, but she was determined to decorate her own home by hand this year, to give it a try. It felt somehow even more personal, even if she still intended to use magical decorations too. Sheâd never fail to put out her enchanted Christmas train. She loved watching the little puffs of smoke as the train moved freely around the track of her Christmas village atop her mantel.Â
Still, visiting Hogsmeade was far from a change in plan, though she did love that it had become an option for the annual celebration. She greeted every witch and wizard she passed with the utmost cheer, her hands clutching an entire bag of goods from Honeydukes. She wanted nothing more than to sample all the new festive flavors, but she told herself she had to be patient. âHappy Christmas to you!â She greeted, voice carrying like a songbird as she traversed the paths, peering into shops as she went about her time. She planned to go and visit Aberforth, but wanted to see the rest of the village as well. She felt a bit like a school girl again, if she were honest, but it brought back fond memories.Â
Her eyes widened at the sudden sight of Winter, her hands reaching out instinctively to help steady him as the dogs twisted and tangled their leads. âOh dear, are you alright?â She asked, unable to stop the laughter from bubbling up. It was quite a sight, to see him all tangled and topsy-turvy. She nodded, laughter continuing, âIâm quite alright, Mr. Macnair, thank you.â She insisted, âbetter even, now youâre here. Itâs so good to see you,â She beamed, but she couldnât help herself from crouching down, hands immediately going to pet the dogs that embarrassed him, her affection for them genuine and welcome as her bag of treats slid further up her wrist. âRemind me of their names?â She asked, looking up to him from her crouched position.Â
He couldnât help but laugh, out of embarrassment and relief he hadnât ended up flat on his arse. âIâm okay, slightly bruised ego, but Iâll live.â he assured, still beaming away. He couldnât stop when he was around her, itâs almost as if she instinctively tapped into the side of him that only ever wanted happiness and fulfillment. And on a night like this, where literal magic was in the air and the glorious threat of snow nothing could probably take away his happiness.Â
The dogs sniffed around her and easily gave themselves up for pets and his eyes creased at the sight. If she passed the dogs test, then she certainly was more than okay. He liked to think they were excellent judges of character. âAh, yes, I forget you havenât yet seen them- youâve got Oddball on your right, aptly named because of the odd markings, sheâs the Dachshund, Thea on the left, the Spaniel named after the Greek meaning of Gift from God, because she was the runt of the litter and was a stillborn but I managed to get her breathing again- the owner wasnât entirely interested in having her so I got her and in the middle is Dah--â oh shit, maybe he hadnât thought that through. It had been so long since he mentioned the dogs and he couldnât recall actually saying their names. â-um, the middle one is Dahlia. Sheâs a King Charles Cavalierâ he said with a slight wince, cheeks flushing even more as he cringed internally. It was funny at the time, if not a bit rude for him to name her such, but it had been a very âbe thereâ moment and now he thought how it would come across to Isa. âNamed after Miss Prewett.â there was no point in lying, he couldnât really dig himself out of this one.Â
There's a house we can build Every room inside is filled With things from far away The special things I compile Each one there to make you smile On a rainy day
They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy They can say, they can say we've lost our minds I don't care, I don't care if they call us crazy Runaway to a world that we design
Every night I lie in bed The brightest colours fill my head A million dreams are keeping me awake I think of what the world could be A vision of the one I see A million dreams is all it's gonna take Oh a million dreams for the world we're gonna make
@isamacmillanâÂ
location: hogsmeade (village path) status: closed @isamacmillanâÂ
It hadnât exactly been planned, more of a passing idea to meet up. Their letters between each other had mentioned their intention to go, Winter hadnât been back to Hogsmeade in many years and it did hold some fond memories. It also gave him a chance to run the dogs, even if they had been a bit woozy from the apparating. But that had swiftly been countered in the Hogs Head. A couple of pints for him, sugar water for the dogs and now they were excitedly bouncing down the village path, Winter hurrying behind them to keep up. He juggled two cups of toffee apple green tea and his wrist held the three leads.Â
With being taller than most of the wix darted about, it made it easy for him to spot Isa a little way further down and he couldn't help but grin to himself at the idea of seeing her once more. It was becoming easier and easier, with each meeting and time spent together to accept the fact that she was indeed just a friend and he treasured the idea she was indeed that. Their spare time between work had mostly been spent with Winter slowly introducing her to more of muggle London and countless trips to museums and galleries to enlighten her mind to muggles and a world so astoundingly new and interesting.Â
âWhoa- hey, whoa- no-!â the dogs sped up, no doubt something had caught their attention and he tried to pull them to a halt as they nearly darted past Isa. With his tugging to stop, he almost slipped on a patch of ice and for a few moments sort of remained slipping and sliding over the patch, amazingly remaining a hold on the cups of tea and the dogs without falling on his arse. His balance came back and he tried to shrug off his almost incident with a charming smile in her direction.Â
âGood evening, maâm.â he greeted, trying to act like nothing had just happened, despite the blush on his cheeks. He would blame it on the cold. Yes, the cold.
OPEN EVENT STARTER || @ HOGS HEAD
âHey, now, hey, now, easy, watch it, would ya?â came the words, but Abe supposed he didnât really know who they were intended for as he weaved through the crowd to make his way back to the bar. âAw, come on, mate, easy on the garland. The ladies worked real hard to make it look nice in here, donât be like that.â He rolled his eyes with a shake of the head, directing his attention, instead, to the face in front of him. âWhat can I get you?â
It was heaving, to the point Winter felt a little more comfortable being out in the open amongst so many other witches and wizards. At least if he saw someone he was avoiding, he had a mass of bodies to sink behind. And it was even less likely in Hogsmeade compared to Diagon. So when Abe had made it towards him, looking slightly more exasperated than normal he fixed his best smile as he leant over the bar. âPint of Black Rat please. And one for yourself, looks like you need it.â he said with a chuckle.

He was staring. Isa wasnât sure if she should clear her throat, or say his name, but the way he smiled at her as he stared had her just as silent as he was. Sheâd never seen him dressed as a muggle, but she found she liked it very much. He looked as intelligent as he was, and the way his clothes hugged his frame made her heart jump. Her own smile grew as he greeted her audibly at last, a pink flush coloring her cheeks as she allowed him to take her hand and kiss her knuckles, that tiny brush of his lips sending her head spinning. âGood morning,â she murmured, eyes creased at the edges, the warmth of them evident as his fingers brushed over the wildflower pin attached to her dress.Â
Isaâs smile grew tenfold as he produced the flowers, noting that the color nearly matched the pale purples and blues of her pin. âOh, Winter.â She breathed, touched that he would bring something for her. It seemed that fate had indeed smiled upon them that morning, as the November sun tried to break through the clouds overhead. âThank you,â She beamed, unable to help herself as she leaned into her toes, pressing herself up higher so that she could press her lips to his cheek. Sheâd just applied her perfume again, the hint of hyacinth bright in contrast to the autumnal smells around them. âI brought you something too,â She added sheepishly as she settled back in her heels.Â
She shifted the gifts in her arms, offering them to him. Each one was wrapped neatly in pleasing pale tones, the largest on bottom, and the smallest on top. In the bottom wrapping he would find a set of parchment with small drawings of magical beasts in the corners. They covered a wide variety of creatures, everything from occamies to bowtruckles to hippogriffs. Sheâd also chosen a brand new quill with a feather of jobberknoll in it, the markings so similar to Calixâs that she couldnât resist. In the second box was a tin of her favorite tea, the caramel tones to it so pleasing that she wanted to share. In the smallest box was a cauldron cake from Sugarplumâs. âYour gift for my birthday was so thoughtful,â She explained as she bit her lip, hoping she hadnât done too much. She didnât want him to think her too much. âI hope that theyâll all be useful to you,â She added, having wanted to pick at least a few things that would last.Â
As she waited, she brought the bouquet to her nose, inhaling gently, her features softening as she held them, wanting nothing more than to ensure they made it home safely, so that she could decorate the dining table with them in a vase, or perhaps sheâd put them on her dresser, so that sheâd see them in the morning when she woke up. Heâd really done well in picking out the flowers, not only did she find them beautiful and they matched her pin, but they seemed to suit him somehow as well.Â
For a not-date date, it felt entire too much like one. Which Winter knew was silly to have the notion of. This was friends, friends greeted each other with courtesy all the time. And exchanging gifts was just a nice thing to do for each other. It was going to be difficult not to overstep the line, especially when she looked so good and looked at him just. like. that.Â
The flowers seemed to go over well, so well that when she reached to her tiptoes and lips pressed against his cheek, he felt empowered that he was doing an okay thing. The waft of her perfume made his nose tingle and it was almost as if heâd smelt it strongly somewhere before. In a shop or Apothecary. Or in a potion. It was nice and so completely her. And his cheek bloomed against the crisp, yet mellow November air. âYou did?â he asked, not that he hadnât clocked the packages under her arm before. But heâd assumed sheâd just done a touch of light shopping. He hadnât been expecting anything, that wasnât customary at all. But then, it was reminding himself that this was not a date. âOh wow, uh-â he was caught off guard as the boxes were placed in his hands and for a moment he was distracted looking at them in wonder.Â
âYou really didnât have to do this. Your gift was your gift for a purpose. A birthday. This- this is too much-â he was protesting, more out of worry that this was more than he had given her. But of course, this was Isabella in all her greatness. He was more than a little eager in opening them, despite them being on the street but he made it work, each one making the smile widen further and further and the care she had put into them? So personal and practical at the same time? God, he had it bad. This was going to be a long day.Â
âThese are- well, these are perfect. Thank you.â he complimented, especially loving the quill and parchment set. Why did he feel awkward? Was it because a man never really received items? Or that to him, this was a language he spoke in. Little gifts, from notes to handmade items or those of purpose. He would have to charm them down, smaller than a pin to go into his pockets but they could do that before venturing off and ensuring her flowers made it as well.Â
As his focus came off the gifts and back towards her, his eyes clocked something he had overlooked before and maybe he was reading too much into it, but the snowflake nestled against her neck, so reminiscent of colder months, of snow, of winter. He felt the breath hitch in his throat. For such a small item, it felt huge in his mind. âI like your pendant.â he noted, cheeks in almost full blush and he was thankful for the autumnal air around them to pass it off.Â
@x-winterashes-xâ
Isa was excited. Despite the unexpected emotions that had bubbled up in front of Winter, she couldnât help but be positively thrilled by the promise of adventure the day held. Sheâd taken note of his advice and instructions, careful to choose clothes that were both beautiful and would blend in with the attire of muggle Londoners. Isa had woken early, had gone to the terrace with her tea, and had allowed the crisp November air to wake her senses. It wasnât until she had drained her cup that she realized she had subconsciously chosen the same exact tea that Winter had offered her a few days before. The thought bright a smile to her lips, her eyes bright at the thought of him.Â
No matter how complicated things had felt in the moment, she knew today would be a wonderful day. Winter had given her time, it was a precious gift that she wouldnât soon forsake. She needed more of it still, to fully process all her thoughts, but her heart had settled a fair bit in just the short amount sheâd had thus far. Sheâd talk to Achilles about it too, or perhaps Aberforth. All would be well, she was certain of it.Â
She stopped well before reaching the magical side of the Leaky Cauldron, slipping instead into Rosa Leeâs. Her morning tea had given her an idea, and sheâd made her purchases quickly, requesting they be neatly wrapped in light green parchment and tied with twine. Next, she stepped into Sugarplumâs, and finally Scribulusâ. When all was accounted for, she had three neatly wrapped gifts, stacked and tied together, with wildflowers to decorate them. Only then did she make her way to the Leaky Cauldron, still dreadfully early. Beyond the muggle side of the Leaky Cauldron, she had absolutely no idea where she would be going. She had thought about trying to figure it out ahead of time, but she couldnât bring herself to spoil the surprise.Â
Instead, Isa settled at an empty table and pulled the book from her bag. Sheâd not read very much yet, though sheâd read his words over and over, but she was fascinated. Heâd been telling the truth when he suggested she had much to learn. Her fingers absently lifted to the necklace sheâd chosen. It was small, hardly a statement piece. The chain was simple, but the charm was an elegant snowflake, with hints of blue to the silver tone. It went well with her muted gown, and the dusting of blue and purple from her flower pin gave her the pop of color she desired. That, and her hat which stayed blessedly in place with a simple enchantment. She knew heâd said to dress carefully, to blend in, but no muggle would be able to know her hat was enchanted, would they?Â
Despite arriving early, she nearly lost track of time altogether, too focused on the book heâd gifted her for her birthday. Heâd remembered, it had made her heart swell to see it. She closed it carefully before packing it away, and collected her gifts for him before slipping out of the pub, through the muggle side door. Sheâd been on this street before, but it felt different today. Today, sheâd venture farther into muggle London, and Winter would be with her. She hugged the books to her chest, heart rabbiting as she waited. She hoped sheâd chosen right, that heâd approve of her dress, and of the gifts sheâd purchased. She wanted to show him that being patient didnât have to be awful. She wanted to earn his smile, if nothing else today.Â
His mind had been occupied nonstop, with plans, ideas, thoughts, and dreams- all centered around one person in particular. Where she lived in his head, despite the confusion and hesitation he now felt around her. After all, not many men would still stick around after being turned down. But he still needed to please her and to have her in his life. And if that meant just being a friend and companion, he knew in time it would settle in his heart and acceptance would run through him.Â
But for now, he still had a slight chance. If it was minimal, but it was there and even if this did nothing but solidified their friendship, at least he could look back and say he tried. Clothing had been an issue, not that he didnât have any but more so what would Isa look for, all she had seen him in was his wizarding wardrobe and work clothes. He also had three places to cover, where each had a different code and he would never admit he spent six hours one evening pulling every item out of his wardrobe, floor covered and heâd even ended up placing items in front of Thea and Oddball. Not that they were much use, Oddball ended up licking a shirt, which Winter took as a sign. However, Mabel and Abel had simply shot him looks of disgust from their perch. As if mentally telling him he was pathetic. But, he had got there and that was decided.Â
Getting ready had been a bit of a rush. He knew theyâd be gone most of the day, so ensuring his animals were tended to and their foods were readily available, and then of course came the numerous kisses and cuddles he had to give out. Especially to Oddball who had grabbed his lead excitedly. Heâd run a mental checklist of everything, apart from one thing. Even if this wasnât a date as he had originally intended, he still had to bring something. A token and he knew he didnât have much time. But it was Tipsy, who had hopped in from the garden and towards him, with a mouthful of daisies in her mouth that the idea twigged. Who said rabbits were stupid. âGenius, Tips.â heâd crooned, heading into the garden to pick a bunch.Â
So it was no surprise he was running somewhat late. But he was ready, at least as much as he could be. And he made his way to the Leaky Cauldron as planned. His palms felt a little damp, no doubt nervous and he quickly checked down at his appearance. Cream trousers, a white Oxford shirt, striped tie, and navy blazer gave him the look of a middle-class muggle and was perfect for what was planned. And it was then, as a group of businessmen moved out of his line of sight that he saw her and he felt for a second, gravity shifting as his lips stretched into a contented, happy smile.Â
She was beautiful. His smile remained, despite his heart racing like the clappers as he approached her. Heâd never seen her like this and it was mesmerising. So much that he realised he must have stood there silent for a moment. Fantastic. Already off to a great start. âGood morning.â he greeted, and he held out his hand, taking hers and pressing a quick kiss to the back of her knuckles. It was brief, polite and he straightened back up, other hand still tucked behind his back clenching the small bouquet nervously.
âYou look wonderful.â he added, fingers coming up to brush against the pin and he brought the flowers around to the front. Was it funny that the flowers he had picked, pale purples and almost whites nearly matched her pin. At least he had that going for him. âThese are for you.âÂ
