First Chapter Lets go 😎😎😎
Note: I changed their names you can check the prologue for that thank you
“Run to the throne room!” yelled a tall man wearing a crown upon his head. His companions followed his order and ran to the throne room, away from what looked like a dining hall, where a tall, slender man surrounded by black smoke stood. The smoke man spoke under his breath in a language that was unrecognizable and with a bang of his staff, he disappeared. Once the king and his three other companions reached the throne room, they started frantically yelling ideas to escape, the man in the crown boomed out
“Silence!” and all of his companions silenced themselves as he ordered.
“Simon, what are we to do?” asked a young woman who was wearing a crown as well, she must have been his queen. She held a small, sleeping baby in her arms, holding him as if to shield him from the evil that has occurred.
The only other man in the group stepped forward and spoke, “Your Highness, do you still have the Luzyoro ring?”
“Certainly,” replied the crown man, who is most likely the king, “I always keep it with me.” He pulled out a thin, gold, chain necklace from under his collar, and hanging from the necklace was a small golden ring.
“Your Highness, I believe that could be our ticket out of here,”
“Yes Your Highness, please, bless us with your idea for escaping me, I would love to hear it” spoke a voice behind the group.
On the throne stood a dark aura, the smoke man, holding his twisted wooden staff with a small orb on top of it that looked like a full moon.
“Stay behind me” whispered the king to him royal advisor, “and slowly move back to the dining hall, once your there, William, I want you to open the portal with the Luzyoro rings. You must make sure that all of you can make it through the one portal. Do you understand me?”
The advisor tried to argue against him but he responded with a stern “Do you understand me?” which silenced the royal advisor, who responded with a quick nod.
William, the royal advisor turned back to inform his wife and the queen of the king’s plan, but the queen rushed over to the king.
“Simon, no, stop we have a child, he needs his father,” the queen said in a flurry and tears in her eyes.
“Olivia, I must protect my kingdom, they are my subjects and I will fight for them, and I will forever try to return to you all,” the king replied looking up at his wife and newborn son. The king bent down slightly to look at the new prince, speaking softly at the sleeping infant.
“My prince, I swear I will come back to you, and you must wear this,” he said taking off his chain containing the Luzyoro ring and hanging it on the baby’s neck. He gently kissed both his son and his wife and looked up at his advisor and his wife, who was also clutching a 2 year old infant in her arms as if too make sure he won’t disappear with the disaster in front of them. The king then watched as his closest friends and love went through the portal that appeared when the his royal advisor recited the spell.
“Goodbye Theo,” the king said under his breath and charged at the smoke man with his large silver sword and everything immediately disappeared into darkness.
Theo immediately shot up, panting and drenched in sweat. Theo looked around confused as to what had just happened, then realized it was just a dream. It felt so real, thought Theo as he got ready to survive the day. It felt as if that had actually happened before, but Theo then he shook his head as if that action could erase his weird thoughts like an Etch-a-sketch toy. He had to get ready for the day, it was just a dream, nothing else about it. Once he got dressed, he headed downstairs and was greeted by his mother, who was making pancakes, Theo’s favorite.
“Whats the occasion?” Theo asked, peeking over his mom’s shoulder.
“What? No ‘Hey Mom!’ or ‘Good morning Mother dearest’ or ‘Did you sleep well oh Mother of mine?’ “ Theo’s mom inquired, pretending to be offended.
“ Hey Mom! Good morning Mother dearest! Did you sleep well oh Mother of mine? Is that better?” Theo defended.
“Yes, much better,” Theo’s mom chuckled, "and to answer your previous question, no special occasion. Just wanted to.”
“Mom,” Theo started “I know you better than anyone one this earth and as your son I must make sure you don’t spill your sadness over my pancakes.”
“How noble,” she said rolling her eyes. “The special occasion was that the pancake box was about to expire and I didn’t want to waste any pancake dough.”
“I’ll accept that for now, but I will investigate once I get home from school,” Theo replied, still suspicious.
“Just sit and eat your pancakes Sherlock Holmes.”
“No arguments here. Thanks,” Theo said as he sat down on the kitchen island stool with pancakes in front of him. He peered at the clock, he still had half an hour until he had to leave, he was fine. It was earlier than he usually woke up, but that’s what weird dreams do he guessed.
As if reading his mind, Theo’s mom asked Theo why he woke up earlier than usual. He recited his dream to his mom, in perfect detail. Most of the time dreams fade out and he forgot them completely after ten minutes, but this one stayed like a memory. After he finished explain his dream to his mom, a mixture of sheer horror and hope crossed her face, but disappeared as quickly as it came. He heard his mom whisper to herself , “Is this a sign?” but straightened up and looked back at Theo. “It was weird mom because you were the queen, Conrad’s parents were the royal advisor couple. The guy who I think was the king just some random person.”
Theo’s mom looked like she was about to respond, but hesitated, and just responded with a small “Ya, thats weird.”
“Well, I read somewhere that people in your dreams are just people you’ve seen in real life. So the king was probably a cashier at Wal-mart or something,” Theo said with a shrug.
His mom chuckled a little, kind of sadly. “Yeah, maybe,” she replied like she wasn’t finished but couldn’t say more. Theo wanted his mom to continue what she was going to say but was interrupted with a “Look at the time, you have to go if you want to make it to school.” She stood up with both of their plates and headed to the sink.
“Mom, thats the worst distraction in the books, what were you- Why are you pointing to the clock?” Theo asked as he trailed his eyes over to the direction where his mom was pointing. His eyes bulged out of his head as he saw that the clock said he had about five minutes to get to the bus.
“Oh shoot, I’m going to be late. Bye mom!’ he said giving his mom a quick kiss on the cheek as he rushed out the door.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?” his mom called out, making sure the boy didn’t forgot one of the most crucial things needed for school, his books.
“Oh ya,” he yelled back with a sheepish smile as he jogged back to his house to get his backpack filled with his supplies.
“Love you! Bye again!” he yelled as he raced out the door to reach the bus. His mom chuckled to herself, clutching a small locket hanging around her neck.
“He’s just like you Simon, just like you,” she whispered to herself.

Theo rushed to the bus stop, praying that he would make it to the bus on time, he did not need another tardy slip. He rushed over to the bus, grateful that it was still there and climbed on. He walked over to the first completely empty seat he could find and sat down, plugged in his headphones, and just got whisked off into the music. He must have dozed off at some point because he felt his arm being shaken. That’s what he gets for waking up early.
“HELLO!!!!” screamed the mysterious figure shaking his arm. Theo shot up from his half awake state speaking non-sense at his awakener.
“I don’t have cash on me! Who’s dying?!” he shouted at a surprisingly empty bus. Well, except for the person who woke him up obviously. He heard a small, light giggle. It was a girl with a high ponytail, covering her mouth to hide the fact she was laughing at him. Great, another moment to add to his already long list of embarrassing situations.
“Hmm I don’t know, your watch says other wise,” she said, pointing to his watch as if she was actually contemplating on robbing him.
“Nope, probably got this at a thrift store for ten dollars,” he said, lifting his watch to show the broken knobs on the side of it..
“Oh yeah. Well one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” she replied back in their unofficial-official bantering match.
“Well that’s insulting to my watch, I don’t think it likes being called trash.” Is it weird that he’s never met her in his life and this seems so, normal? Its not forced, just calm.
“Sorry, dear person-who-I-don’t-know-their-name’s watch.”
“It’s Theo, and my watch says your forgiven.” He gave his name to a stranger, good job. His kindergarten teacher would be highly disappointed with his lack of ‘stranger danger’.
The girl stuck her hand out towards him with a small smile, “Alerria Realma, pleasure to meet you Theo last-name I-don’t-know-either.”
Theo shook the girl, Alerria’s, hand and said, “Nice too meet you.” He gave her a small smile as a wave of familiarity washed over both of them. Like they are connected…
“So two things,” Alerria spoke, interrupting Theo’s ridiculous thoughts, “One, how come I haven’t seen you a lot? Its already halfway through the school year.”
“Two, have I met you before this,” she waved her hands around talking about the bus thing, “I guess I could call this an interaction.”
So she felt it too, Theo thought as Alerria stared at him with big brown eyes. Wow, those were intimidating, Theo thought as she waited for his answer.
“O-Oh right. So I’m basically a ghost here to haunt you in a bus for eternity,” Theo said with a straight face. Where was this coming from?
Alerria started bursting out laughing and her laugh echoed across the whole bus. Theo then joined in, she had those laughs which captured people and made them join in. Or maybe it was just Theo who was captured?
“Well Mr.Ghost dude,” Alerria started, tears of mirth still in her eyes, “Nice to know I was chosen for your haunting.” She winked at the end of this and Theo just stared blankly.
Quick respond! his inner voice yelled.
A giant ringing bursted through the whole school and cut their conversation short.
“Oh shoot!” Theo yelled as he raced to get all his supplies. “I’ve got to go bye talk to you later!” Theo said behind him in one breath as he ran out to get to class.
“Same! Bye!” she said as she jumped off the bus and ran at lightning speed to get to her class. Wow, she’s fast.
Stop daydreaming, Theo said to himself under his breath, smacking his face to make sure he was 100% awake.
Now time to enter the earthly hell, a.k.a high school.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
“Ah yes,” he heard someone say behind him, “nothing like the good smell of metal to wake one up in the morning.” The person then flung their arm around Theo shoulders, crushing him.
Theo then sniffed the air, “Nope all I smell is your B.O.” He turned around to face his best friend, Conrad Phillips, class president, captain of all sports and popular kid extraordinaire. Basically Mr. Perfect, without the annoying parts.
“You mean my manly cologne? Yes, its called ‘Why Were You Late?’” Conrad asked his friend.
“Oh yeah I saw an ad about that one, the one I use is ‘I Was Talking To Someone On The Bus’.”
“You? Communicating? With humans?”
Never mind, Theo thought, he still is annoying.
“Yes I know it was shocking for me too.”
“The day he becomes social. Never thought it would come.” Conrad said, pretending to wipe a tear from his eye.
“Ok Mr. I’m-part-of-every-social-activity-and-is-Mr.Popular.” Theo replied, rolling his eyes.
“Well that’s what you get for being so social and shocked that I can communicate with human beings.”
“Well who was it? I might know them.”
“You know everyone in an school with 800 people?”
“Why am I not surprised?”
“Because it’s me, genius extraordinaire.”
“Are you denying my intelligence?”
“Your grades say otherwise.”
“Its actually your grades so…”
Conrad gasped. “Me? Never,” he replied, stretching out “never” for emphasis. And to prove the sarcasm.
“Einstein was a genius so you are calling me an intellectual.” Theo remarked, pointing to his head
Conrad’s eyes went wide and started slow clapping, “Wow big words.”
“Ok now you are mocking me.”
“It’s called sarcasm ‘genius’,” Conrad said, putting air quotes around “genius”.
“I know, sarcasm is my first language.”
“I thought it was idiocy.”
“I swear-“ Theo was about to attack his so called best friend but the bell erupted throughout the hall.
“Language!” Theo yelled, slapping his hand over Conrad’s mouth. “Ewww the heck! Did you lick my hand!?” he screeched, yanking his hand away from Conrad as he snickered to Theo’s dismay. “The reason you are popular will forever be a mystery to me.”
Theo was frantically wiping his hand on his jeans before he got slapped in the back of the head.
“Come on!,” Conrad yelled, “Lets go!”
They raced through the, shockingly, empty halls trying to make it to their literature class on time. It was a waste for that was the late bell that had rung.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
“Has anyone heard the story of-“
“I made it!” Theo yelled into the classroom, panting from running.
“No, not that story, but I’m glad you read it. Quite a masterpiece. Begins with my student getting a slip for being tardy to class and SILENTLY moving to his seat,” his teacher remarked, looking at Theo with a tardy slip in his hand.
“Would you like to listen to my story or are we going to argue all class?”
Theo looked back up at his teacher, the situation finally settling in. His class all looking at him, waiting for him to make a move. Some of them hiding their laughter, some looking at him with pity, but it was mostly laughter. His eyes landed on the girl from the bus, Alerria, and his face bursts into flames.
The teacher beamed at him. “Good, now if you please,” he said, pointing to his seat.
Theo walked over to his seat and heard behind him, “You too Mr. Phillips.”
“Da- I mean- Umm- Dang diddle doo?”
The class burst into laughter as Theo mentally face palmed. Out of all the things he could say, he choose “Dang diddle doo”? Popularity will be a mystery for all eternity (the last 2 sentences are thoughts so italicize)
“Just take to slip Mr. Phillips,” spoke our teacher, holding out a tardy slip.
“Necessarily, Mr. Phillips is my- Never mind yes sir.” Conrad said the last part in one breathe while the teacher gave him a death glare.
Conrad walked past his teammates who gave him a slap on the back and high fives as he walked by. One guy hit him so hard he launched him to the back of the classroom. He laughed it off and walked next to Theo to take his seat.
“Ok everyone settle down. Now, has anyone heard The Story of the Four Heroes?” spoke the teacher, continuing his lesson.
“Batman, Superman, Iron Man, and Spiderman,” spoke one of the students, humor all throughout his voice.
“Those aren’t even in the same universe, idiot,” spoke Mr. Perfect wannabe, René Sivilan aka Ren. If the snotty, rich kid cliche took human form and bleached his hair, that would be him. The fact he isn’t in some private such a mystery to Theo, and they some how have been in the same class since kindergarten. Is this karma I have to hold from my ancestors, thought Theo when he realized they are in the same class.
“No one asked,” Theo mumbled under his breath.
“What did you say, dumb-” Ren barked back, before being interrupted by the teacher.
“Ok, ok now, let’s not go there. Let’s keep this a family friendly class, ok?” spoke Mr. Novellica, the class literature teacher.
“Yes sir,” mumbled the two enemies.
“Great, now onto the lesson, The Four Heroes, yes, quite a creative book name,” Mr. Novellica continued, wearing a small laugh from the class. Though it couldn’t be heard over Ren’s fake laughter as if he was told the funniest thing on earth.
“That was hilarious Mr. N, quite the jokester!” Ren added in between laughs.
Mr. Novellica rolled his eyes and sighed, “Ren, please refrain from calling me Mr. N and just call me Mr. Novellica.”
“Good one Mr. Novellica!” yelled Conrad from his spot in the classroom.
“Please stop yelling Mr. Phillips and thank you for the compliment,” remarked the teacher, causing more laughs and giggles to erupt thought the class.
Ren huffed in his seat and mumbled curses toward the class.
“Ok can we finally work on the work at hand,” yelled the teacher, with students responding with a small words of approval.
“Great! Now, The Four Heroes. Has anyone heard of this story?”
Three hands shot up between the whole class. These hand belonged to Conrad, Alerria, and an girl named Luna. She had light olive skin and was wearing gold, thin bracelets. She was also Conrad’s competitor for top student, but that was besides the point.
Amongst the class another kid knew the story as well, Theo, and he truly loved this story. Though he didn’t know who wrote it, it was just told to him from Mr. Phillips and his mom, as the two families have been close ever since Theo can remember. His mother told him the story more often though, telling him it was a true story as a kid. He grew out of believing that, knowing a world with wizards and knights and a royal advisor with the IQ of Einstein times ten didn’t exist. Suddenly he was drawn out of his thoughts when he felt someone grab his arm, shooting it up into the sky.
“Conrad!” Theo whisper-hissed at the culprit. He only gave him a smug smile and kept his grip on his arm.
“We both know you have this story memorized word for word,” Conrad whispered back, his smug smile still on his face.
“Fine! Fine! Just. Let. Go,” Theo continued to hiss through clenched teeth, shooting daggers at his friend. He struggled to release himself from his grip. Curse his friends stupid strength.
“Ok, but you have to keep your arm up or I will-
“Fine! Geez, just let go!” Theo whispered, relieving himself, finally, from his friends grasp.
“Theo, would you like to tell me what you know of this story!” his teacher chirped, actually chirped, at his quietest student begrudgingly kept his arm raised.
“Umm-S-sure. It is about these four heroes-“
“No, really?” interrupted Ren, mocking interest. “Do tell me- Owww who threw that?!” Ren screeched, whipping his head to face who threw the crumpled up paper at his head.
Conrad threw his hands up, as if he got caught red-handed. “Wasn’t me! I swear. I would never give up my perfect behavior for you, sorry Theo.”
How loyal, Theo thought as he rolled his eyes at Conrad.
Little did they know a girl with dirty blonde hair tied up in a high ponytail with perfect aim hiding her hand with another crumpled up piece of paper under her desk, covering her mouth with her other hand to hide her giggles.
“Whatever, doesn’t matter, Theo continue please,” Mr. Novellica prompted.
“Um, yes sir,” Theo responds as he continues the tale. On and on he could go on this story and remembers it as if he lived it himself. As if a part of him is truly connected to the tale he is telling, even though it is just a story.
When he finishes talking, the whole class stares at him, which is uncomfortable to say the least. Mr. Novellica just smiles his teacher smile, the one where they see a student get something right, and then tells Theo to sit down.
“Well, Theo you could have given us a spoiler alert,” he says with a chuckle like he said the wittiest comment ever. “Well, as a preview into this lesson, I’m giving everyone a project.” Cue the students groaning.
“Come on guys, it won’t be too hard, and it’s a group assignment.” Cue more groaning.
“I don’t care about the groaning, it will be fine. To give you a break, I will choose the groups- No groaning!” Mr. Novellica says before anyone can start. “Wonderful, the group list will be posted on the board after class so you can exchange numbers and what not. The project will be on creating presentation on how the story will go based on the information you are given, think of this as a science fair project format. I will give you the beginning, an excerpt in the middle and you will have to predict the ending using literary devices. Simple!”
Before anyone can protest, the bell rang and mr. Novellica wins a list of names to the board.
Conrad and I walk up to the board and as we get there Luna and Alerria arrive as well. And under the title “Group 2”, we see all our names listed right under.
