Ingmar Bergman, Summer with Monika, 1953

The images have been made over the past decade or so. Mostly I’ve taken to walking or driving around the neighborhoods of South West London at the quieter times of the day - early in the morning or late at the evening. I wanted to show a different side of the capital away from the well covered and fashionable central areas that get so much attention. Many of the images were made at times that fitted in with my working and family life - so dropping kids at school, going to the supermarket and quiet Sunday walks. Although many of the areas of South West London have changed a little and gained more prominence over the period since I have shot this series, underneath they are all still semi-suburban neighbourhoods that are largely overlooked.
