The strange pressure of being on time
I always find it strange how quickly people decide what someone else's life means.
How easily they look at someone and think:
"What a shame."
"They have to start over."
"They're behind."
Sometimes we treat unexpected chapters like delays.
Or worse, like failures.
The person who finds themselves single at 30.
The man who goes back to school at 40.
The woman who gets divorced at 50.
The person who leaves a career they've spent years building at 60.
Different circumstances.
But somehow they all get treated the same way.
As if something went wrong.
As if they're moving backwards.
As if life somehow missed its deadline.
Why are we so uncomfortable with lives that don't unfold the way we expected?
Maybe because we like stories.
Beginnings.
Middles.
Endings.
We like to believe that if we make the right choices, life will follow a certain shape.
That's the part we get wrong.
We mistake unexpected for unsuccessful.
Different for delayed.
A new chapter for proof that the old one failed.
That never really made sense to me.
Because changing direction in life doesn't mean everything before was wasted.
It means that person grew.
They still carry everything with them.
The lessons.
The mistakes.
The heartbreak.
The things they learned the hard way.
That's what we forget.
Life was never about arriving at the right time.
It was always happening while we were busy checking the clock.
And maybe the hardest thing to accept is that we were never standing at the end of the story.
We're standing in the middle of it.
Just on a page we never expected to read.
I think real love eventually feels simple. Not perfect. Not effortless. Just honest.

Maybe that's what I'm still learning. That being a burden and being cared for aren't the same thing.
-MY
And I think that's what I'm leaving behind. Not the idea of love itself. But the need to decode it. The need to turn confusion into meaning.

Instead of sharing it, I make it smaller.
Until eventually, the thing I'm carrying becomes invisible to everyone except me.

The art of overthinking ✨️
I think my brain has a strange habit.
It keeps replaying moments.
A conversation that felt slightly different.
A sentence that could have meant something else.
A moment that lasted only a few seconds, but somehow stayed with me for much longer.
Not because I enjoy suffering.
Believe me, I don't.
Sometimes I replay them because I’m trying to understand.
What changed?
What did I miss?
Was there something I didn’t notice?
I think that’s the strange thing about overthinking.
It’s not always about expecting the worst.
Sometimes it’s about wanting the full picture.
Wanting to understand situations.
Wanting to understand people.
Wanting to know that I didn’t accidentally hurt someone without realizing it.
But I think there is another side to it.
Sometimes I replay things because they were beautiful.
A conversation that made me feel understood.
A moment where someone showed kindness without knowing how much I needed it.
A memory that felt ordinary to everyone else, but somehow stayed with me.
I think my mind collects those moments too.
Not because I want to live in the past.
But because some moments feel too meaningful to simply let disappear.
Maybe that is the art of overthinking.
Not just searching for answers.
But searching for meaning.
Trying to understand why something stayed with me.
Why a certain moment mattered.
Why a certain person left an impression.
Maybe my mind isn't always trying to solve something.
Sometimes it is just trying to understand why some moments leave us different than they found us.
Everyone is carrying something. They deserve grace. But I am teaching myself that I deserve that too.

But sometimes I forget to ask: What if someone can be doing their best... and their best can still hurt me?

There were people I tried to understand. People I replayed in my mind like unfinished sentences. Not because they were the right story. But because they were unclear enough to keep me reading.

Maybe being the main character of your own life has nothing to do with being the center of everyone else’s.

The strange vulnerability of caring deeply
I used to think caring deeply was a gift.
And in a way, it is.
But I don't think I understood how much of yourself comes with it.
Because when I care about people, I don't just care about the version of them standing in front of me.
I start wondering what they're carrying.
What they're not saying.
What they're trying their best to handle.
I don't do it on purpose.
My mind just goes there.
Maybe that's why I've always found it difficult to stay angry.
Because the moment someone I care about hurts me, another part of me immediately starts looking for the reason why.
Maybe they're struggling.
Maybe they're overwhelmed.
Maybe they never meant it that way.
Maybe they were simply doing the best they could with the tools they had at that moment.
And the strange thing is that I often believe it.
Not because I'm naive.
Maybe because I know how much I would want someone to look at me and remember that I am more than my worst moments too.
I think that's why it becomes complicated.
Because I believe circumstances shape people.
I believe most people are trying to navigate life with whatever they have learned and whatever they are carrying.
But sometimes I forget to ask:
What if someone can be doing their best... and their best can still hurt me?
I think that's the part I'm still learning.
Not how to care less.
I don't want to care less.
Not how to become harder.
I don't want that either.
Just how to make room for two truths at the same time.
Most people are trying.
They are carrying something.
They deserve grace.
But I am teaching myself that I deserve that too.
I don't think the answer is becoming someone who stops giving grace.
I think the answer is learning that grace was never meant to only go in one direction.

Nobody is actually reading from a script. We’re all just improvising, hoping it holds.

On love, as I'm learning to understand it.
I used to think love arrived clearly.
Like something certain.
Recognisable.
Undeniable.
But I guess that isn't always the case.
Sometimes it's softer.
Creeping in slowly.
Confusing.
Moments that felt like meaning but never became direction.
Connections that felt close but never chose form.
Silences that almost spoke but never did.
And maybe that's the hardest kind of attachment.
Not the kind that hurts because it ended.
The kind that stays because it never fully became anything.
The confusion between attention and intention.
Warmth and direction.
I thought if something felt deep enough, it must be leading somewhere.
But I'm learning that not everything that touches you is meant to stay.
Some things are only meant to show you how you love.
There were people I tried to understand.
People I replayed in my mind like unfinished sentences.
Not because they were the right story.
But because they were unclear enough to keep me reading.
And I think that's what I'm leaving behind.
Not the idea of love itself.
But the need to decode it.
The need to turn confusion into meaning.
Because I don't think love is supposed to make you question your own perception of it for too long.
I think real love eventually feels simple.
Not perfect.
Not effortless.
Just honest.
So I'm no longer looking for what feels intense without direction.
I'm looking for what stays without confusion.
What is clear without effort.
What doesn't ask me to ignore my own intuition.
So not how to be chosen.
But how to stop choosing uncertainty over myself.
