delanie has never really had much of a problem when it comes to talking casually to pretty girls, although sometimes she does end up tripping over her words or losing the ability to speak entirely. "really?" she is listening, intently, with bright eyes and a wide smile. she's interested, to say the least, in what vik has to say. "how recent?" head tips to the side, curious and full of wonder. she's taking in everything she can, practically absorbing the information where-ever possible. "that's... really cool."
the fact that delanie's actually listening enough to ask questions throws vikasni off. she blinks, startled and stammers a little bit before she gathers herself. if there's one thing she's good at, it's her work. if there's one thing she's bad at, it's talking to pretty girls. but usually her talking about her work to pretty girls is okay. she can ramble, the pretty girl will realise vikasni's really that much of a nerd and be scared of, and the cycle continues. "about a few years, we think." she shrugs, tugs at the lobe of her year. "at least within the last five years to a decade, which nobody expected because the ruins themselves are from centuries ago."
She won't admit it, but she's got some form of abandonment and trust issues that come from her disillusionment with everything (and her parents' disapproval with her life choices, even if she knows they love her).

sam is beaming from ear to ear. he takes the box of cookies and then steps back, to allow shiv into the run-down apartment. it's not great, it's a bit grungy and there's definitely some mold issues but it was all he could afford on such a low salary. "oh, no way. these're gonna last me at least a week."
"such a good boy." oh, he said that out loud. okay then. shiv's going to pretend he meant to. he turns to face sam, attention on the blond and not on the apartment around them. sam always gets his full focus. "i finished half of mine within about fifteen minutes."

The way he all but moans her name feels like a prayer, like a question. He wants her, desperately and she knows that. She must know that. The way that she speaks, acts, moves - it must be clear to her by this point that he's all but begging for her. He can't remember the last time he felt quite this desperate for someone. But that's just what she does, she turns him into something of a mess every day.
"Yeah?" It's practically permission, head nodding slowly. "Undo them." Although he's sure she might struggle, just a little - with how they've tented from the pressure beneath. The fabric of his work pants twitch, showing just how much he wants her. No, how much he needs her.
Faye doesn't think she's ever felt this wanted before. She's never been the focus of someone's desire like this, someone who knows her and sees her and wants her anyway. It's heady in a way that makes bold. She takes his words as the permission they are, fingers clumsy for the fact that she's only using one hand, the other still in his hair.
And the fact that she's not looking at the buttons. Instead, Faye's alternating between pressing kisses and scraping her teeth against the column of his throat. She can't help herself. More than that, she doesn't want to. It takes her a bit, but she gets it done, button open and zip caught. There's something like a laugh let out against his neck. "Help a girl out, shona."

"attagirl!" and with that, delanie throws a leash towards sam. "grab zeus, i'll get molly." she's decided to be nice and let sam have the much calmer, less obnoxious of the two. "just tell him to sit and he will."
sam catches the leash with one hand, mildly impressed at herself for doing so. does that look cool? she hopes that looks cool. "mhmm, i will - do that." she's known del long enough that she knows the dogs. they recognise her, and zeus does listen and sit while she clips on his leash. when she next speaks, it's to del, but she's scratching behind zeus' ear. "do we have a plan for how long we're taking them out?"
Faye is a polyglot. How many languages she can speak (and/or read and write) depends on the verse, but in all verses, besides English, she is fluent in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi because they're close enough conversationally to Hindi, and semi-passable in both Spanish and French, and knows enough of Latin to sound good.
In TVDU specific verses, she's not just passable in French but extremely fluent, and on a better level of Latin. She also retaught herself whatever Nordic language they were meant to be speaking in her first life and taught herself some Italian.

penelope appreciates the way that he looks at her, it makes her feel like a million dollars and then some. she even goes as far to give him a little twirl, the bottom of her dress spinning around with it. "well, thank you very much, kind sir." she takes a quick step towards him, a bright smile taking over her expression. his tone drops slightly and he sounds a little more intimate than she was expecting which turns her cheeks a much brighter shade of red. "you're not so bad yourself." penelope says with a soft smile, reaching up to press a light kiss to his cheek. "shall we?"
there's an almost painful thump in his chest when she grins, twirls almost girlishly. the brightness of her smile and her eyes and her everything makes will embarrassingly uncool in how he can't stop staring at her. penelope is a vision, but she's also so much more than that, and will's not sure how he got so lucky to be here to accompany her, but he's not looking a gift horse in the mouth. "um," comes out of his mouth as his words fail him when her soft lips press against his cheek. he barely registers her question, but reflexively holds an arm out for her to take. will tries to school his wide eyes into something a little less dumbstruck. he's not so sure he succeeds.

He's already holding out the coffee he's made for her, soft smile on his face. Danny's exhaustion can't be hidden - it's in his eyes for all that there are no eyebags under them. It's even in the way he holds himself, and the fact that his smile is faint rather than the bright one he always has ready for Clara.
"Coulda been worse, I s'pose." He takes a sip of his own coffee and makes a face. He forgot the creamer. He turns to correct that. "Mighta slept better if -" And then he cuts himself off because that's too forward for how new this is.

A smirk plays on Neal's lips, the hand on Emma's waist slipping under the hem of her shirt. He doesn't move it higher, resting it against her back, warm on her skin.
And then he takes a step closer, eyes crinkling at the sides in amusement. "Like what, Em," he murmurs into the space between them. It's barely a couple of inches, and he itches to close it.
He doesn't, if only to see the annoyance play on her features.
With his free hand, he brushes stray strands of hair off her forehead and leans forward, still not kissing her. Neal drops his voice lower. "Like what?"
A bowl clattered onto the kitchen island. Laura stared at her brother, aghast, a mixture of shock and judgment on her features. Mehr stifled a sigh, reaching out for the bowl and ensuring nothing had spilled. To be safe, she pulled away the bowls in front of Keith too.
Neither of them seemed to notice.
βWhat do you mean you got married?β Laura demanded, looking from Keith to Declan. She was met with a guilty wince from her younger brother. She did not wait for another answer, turning instead to Mehr. βDid you know?β
Mehr opened her mouth but was interrupted by Declan. βOf course she knew,β he scoffed, his eyes glinting with the amusement of someone throwing a friend under the bus. βWe needed a witness.β
Betrayal seemed to rob Laura of breath. Mehr narrowed her eyes and pressed her lips together in a tight line but Laura did not notice the warning in her features. βHow long have you been keeping this from me?β
Lips taut, Mehr weighed her options. Declan still seemed very pleased with himself for turning Laura's attention to her while Keith at least was apologetic. Laura, however, held too much offense in her demeanour for the situation. Coming to a decision, she placed her hands on the edge of the island and responded blandly, βAbout as long as I've been keeping your marriage a secret for you.β
Silence fell in the room for a long moment before chaos erupted.

One of the things Faye is so glad she did after her mom died is digitalise as many of the recipes passed down to her parents as she could. Scanned copies to keep, so as sad as she was that she lost almost all the physical evidence of her family with the explosion that killed her dad, she still had the scans (with notes in her family's handwriting).
